  2. The format did not come out right at all when I copied and pasted it. Sorry.

  4. You guys really do rock!! I only wish I knew each one of you personally and we could be each others support system :) Now back to hitting the books I go...my mom has my 9 month old ALL weekend...my mom rocks too!
  5. I hope so...hubby and I are definitely separating, he finally came home at 4am last night...so I am done. My mom watched both kids for 10 hours yesterday while I worked. She wanted him to get a break from the kids, have time to apply for jobs and straighten up the house....what does he do go out all day and night...comes home at 4am. I am done. If I can make it through emotionally right now I hope I can finish school. He keeps telling me over and over that I told him I was doing this...he had no choice. He did, and he agreed to this. Of course if he would get off his lazy ass I would not be killing my self working and going to school all these years. Argh. Ok everyone I am done venting...thank you sooooo much for all your kind words of advice.
  6. Thank you!!! Its getting better...I did my crying last night, lol. Today was LONG as my daughter woke up at 430 but I lived through it and thats all that matters :) And if my relationship remains on the rocks than it makes it all worthwhile knowing that I REALLY need to finish this for my kids.
  7. Carmela I am also a neat freak, lol....That has been sooo hard for me! How far are you into your program?
  8. Thank you Mindy for all your words, I really needed to hear that. I went in the bathroom, balled my eyes out, made some tea and have been studying again :) Its going to be SOO hard but I have to for my children...have to. I hope your able to get some peace and quiet yourself :)
  9. I need some serious help as I am about to give up and be in ALOT of student loan debt. I started an LPN 10 month accelerated program this week and I am sooo overwhelmed. I have a special needs (on the spectrum) 4 year old and a 9 month old....and a 40 year old child (hubby). I try to study in my room and my 4 year old just bangs on my door non stop...he is SOOO needy...he asks me for something every 2 minutes. If he is finally calm doing something then my daughter needs something...its non stop until everyone is finally sleeping by 900-930. By this time I have been up since 530am, school 8-3...including a commute of an hour each way. Then I come home clean after the disaster that occurs during the day because my husband stays home with them (he sits in a chair on facebook and playstation alllll day-but somehow manages to keep the kids alive), cook dinner and then I am done. I am so stressed and can't focus on anything. I still worry about the bills, finances, grocery shopping, car maint, on and on....and no I cannot talk to my husband because if I do he just says he is going to leave. I can't imagine trying to do this while being separated on top of it. Although I know in my heart it is going to happen one day. I could go on and on...but I just need some advice. How do you single mothers do it??? I basically am putting myself in the mindset of being a single mother. Granted yes he does stay home with them everyday all day...and I know its HARD...I do....but he doesn't do all the typical house maintaining that should go along with being a SAH dad...no doctor appts...nothing. Should I quit or try to make it work? Its day 3 and I am in tears already. Please note I am a tough cookie...I got my AS in Biology while pregnant and working one full time and one part time job, so I know I can....I just need someone to give me an honest opinion. Thank you for listening.
  10. DO you have kids too? Its so hard right now...I have 2 little ones.
  11. Thank you I guess my medical terminology is pretty good since I figured it out lol.
  12. I envy you!! I start monday and I have a 4 year old and a 9 month old! I also plan to work 12 hours/week....argh I am soooooo scared. My 4 year old is special needs and is like having 10 kids...I also have to keep telling myself its for our future!! Maybe I should get off here and go read my book, even before school starts :)
  13. Oh lord I start my LPN program on monday and haven't a clue what an oximiter is! Should I?? Is it the thing you put on the finger to measure O2?
  14. I am not on Long Island, I am about an hour north of NYC in Dutchess County. I am going the same route (I start Boces on Monday). I ended up getting an AS in Libealr Arts because I was waiting for clinicals for sooo long at DCC. I then went to Westchester Community and well it was worse there. I needed to score near perfect on the TEAS and well that was just not happening. DCC had a lottery type...which is just not fair IMO. SOOOO long story short I am doing LPN and hope to bridge right to BSN at Mt St. Mary's in Newburgh (Orange County). I think there are only 2 schools that offer LPN to BSN in NY, I am lucky its 20 minutes from my house :) So good luck...with whatever you choose. I went the LPN route because I am 32 and I just don't have another 5 years to wait. I know 2 girls that did Excelsior completely online for their RN right after Boces...so its all very possible without waiting forever :)
  15. Hey how are you? I start in a few days and I keep trying to chicken out, lol. Are you in full time? How old are your kids? I am sorry I am asking a million questions..I am so anxious! Also where are the clinicals located? I hope they are not too far! How is the program layed out...is there lecture certain days, clinical other days, or is the day split up? Just curious. Basically tell me everything...thanks..hee hee :)
  16. I start a 10 month accelerated program on the 23rd! I am scared poopless, lol. I have a 9 month old and a special needs 4 year old...still trying to figure out how I am going to manage this!
  17. I start on the 23rd too! I am sooooo scared as I have 2 kids 4 and under and a hubby who is probably more scared than I am, lol. I am also (well was) the only working person in the house, so we now have no income coming in...so talk about PRESSURE! I can do this, I can do this. I am 32 so I HAVE to do this. Good Luck everyone!!
  18. I was really hoping to find soemone else on here who was starting?? I decided to dive in last minute for the full time, which starts on the 23rd....I am so scared. I have 2 small kids under 4 and I am (were) the only working parent right now. We have no savings and barely make it now, so this is sooooo scary. There is no turning back now. I am taking my CPR the same night class starts (they said it was ok) and I am waiting to get my bloodwork done and all medical paperwork completed. Should I wear the scrub top on first day/orientation? Do I need a stethoscope yet, or should I wait? Should I bring my books first day? Its just orientation right? I am not bright, I would say average...I need to study ALOT to get good grades. With 2 kids and an unsupportive husband...this is going to be hard.. Tell me it can be done!!
  19. Where did you take your CPR class??? I called Dutchess but they don't have a class until the 23rd and that is when school starts!!
  20. When the site changed (was down) somehow my post disapeared so this may be similar to some who may have responded. I will try to wrap it up as best I can: I am 32 with an AS in Liberal Arts. I have 2 CC within 2 hours that I have attended in the past. The one I received my AS from has a ADN program but I was waiting years for clinicals, so I went elsewhere. There was even worse where you needed to score above 95% on the TEAS, so I went into Respiratory Therapy instead. I got accepted into the program alot sooner than anticipated, WHEN...a few weeks after I had my daughter-FIGURES! I also have a 4 year Developmentally Disabled (SPD)PDD little man. So I declined. So here I am a year later ready to make my moves again. My hubby has been out of work for years...long story and besides keeping my kids alive while I work a low paying 40 hour a week job, he is unsupportive of my nursing career, which I NEED to do. We barely make it every month..and I am SICK of it. I was accepted into a LPN program...full time (I wanted part time but its full and I score high enough to place into full time). Its accelerated 10 month program. 8-330 mon-friday. I would need to take out the max loan they offer of $9500, which half would go to tuition and books, etc. I would only get about $3K back for living expenses. I already have $28K in student loans that lovely Sallie Mae took over from Citibank last month. (the original amount was only 17K...so yes over 10K they racked on!!). I need time to study and do cleaning and cooking. I am NOT one of those people who can just put off cleaning until "later". I need alot of study time too. Also my son needs alot of attention. What would your advice be? Just dive in and reep the benefits sooner? There are LPN jobs in my area that pay about $20/hour. I have the opportunity 2 bridge to either RN or BSN immediately as well. But I would have to live off loans and figure something out meantime. Work maybe 2 days a week and do alot of praying, lol? I could get my CNA certification and make a few bucks more an hour as a PCT in the local hospital. OR wait about another 3 or more years just to get into the clinicals for RN which maybe I would be done in 4-5 years. The only positive I see this route is very little loan debt, I can still work (barely making ends meet)...and when clinicals do start both kids will be in school. Maybe by that time my husband will either be gone (hee hee) or working. I would really appreciate any advice!!
  21. Anyone mind me asking the new grad salary at Vassar? Where did you guys go to school DCC or the mount?
  22. Dutchess or Ulster Boces :)
  23. Palewhite are you still attending the program? I don't see the facebook page anymore either.
  24. I am 98% sure I am attening in the fall full time. I have 2 small kids and a hubby out of work. I am the only one working to support us. So the thought of quitting my job to do this and live off of loans is our only option. Hubby does not want me to do this, but I can't continue to barely make due every month...have no retirement, no savings EVER and basically no future for my kids. I am awaiting to find out what my final financial aid package is and hope to find some scholarships to help me. Anyone else find out how much their grant was??
  25. Does anyone know what the bridge program entails? Do we just do nursing courses or will we be responsible for taking more A&P or Microbiology? I got accepted into jan2012 at Boces, but was thinking of waiting until Sept for family reasons. I would like to do any classes at Dutchess meanwhile if I will need any for the bridge. Thanks.
