  1. Hi everyone, I haven't been very active for some time, but I always come here when I need advice. I was wanting some feedback/advice/criticism about a cardiac ICU RN considering L&D. Would you recommend it? What are some things that I should know before applying? I don't know anyone in L&D so I don't have anyone to ask. I don't have much experience in L&D, except for when I had my own, so that is kind of a limiting factor. Thanks for any and all replies!
  2. I currently work in two places: A large academic CVICU. Charge is (pretty much) always free, and is there to rotate through and help out with the sick patients that we can take. The other place I work is a smaller unit and I am the charge nurse. When I started I never had to take patients. I did at times like if we got a rapid and I settled it and passed it off to another nurse. Now we are counted in the numbers, and I have to take patients. That means that some of my other responsibilities get pushed to the wayside (scheduling, PI for the unit etc). I am actually leaving that job and going to the academic center job part time. I do not currently do charge there.
  3. I am looking at this weekends weather the same way. I'm not sure yet what to do. I might need to get a hotel room. I'm hoping they down shift the expectations of snow. We are supposed to get 12-24 inches.
  4. I would also review your vasopressors and inotropes. Most people will come out on a dose of something-commonly epi. I would review those! Good luck!
  5. Thank you! It is still in the early planning stages. I am from California originally, and my husband fell in love with the area. I am just putting feelers out to see what the job situation looks like! Hope you get there soon!
  6. Thank you so much for your reply! I feel better about my chances!
  7. Hi Everyone! I am asking for help. I am thinking of relocating with my family to the Half Moon Bay area. ( San Mateo, San Jose areas). I am a BSN, CCRN, nurse with heart experience, ECMO's, etc. Can anyone tell me if I will have difficulty getting a job at a decent facility? I usedto work for the Dignity Health system. Thank you very much for any feedback!
  8. You can't leave us hanging...what's the "Catholic dose"?
  9. I have ordered from them multiple times without a problem.
  10. I graduated when I was 22 and started working right away. I don't think 23 is too old.
  11. I took mine in December but I had a around 10-15 questions on swans and hemodynamics
  12. Thinking good thoughts and well wishes for you, Esme!
  13. I have been following this story from the beginning, and I hope we get more information about what really happened. But I also noted that she claims "hospital employees" approached her about organ donation. I haven't worked at many places, but is this not the complete responsibility of the OPO? Just a thought.
  14. I'm shamelessly piggy backing on your status but I wanted to let everyone know I passed too! CCRN certified, baby! ☺️
  15. Thank you for this. I take my test in a few days! I used the pass CCRN and listened to the gasparis CDs. What do you mean when you say "you had to work for it"? Can you remember anything from your test you wish you had known? Congratulations!!!! Thank you again!
  16. I actually graduated from CGCC in 2010 and I had a great experience there. Pm me if you want specific information. But I would highly recommend it.
  17. I have been interviewing for acute care nursing jobs lately and I have worn nice black dress pants, black flats and a royal blue blouse. I have one job locked in already. Just my 2 cents!
  18. Thank you very much for your response. I have had my interview and was accepted for the position, but I need to graduate with my BSN (December 13) before I can take my spot. I was very impressed with the unit and the hospital. I hope I can still have a position there in December! Thank you again!
  19. Hi there, I know I have posted in the Pennsylvania forums before, but I need help with something else, if you lovely ladies/gentlemen would be so kind. I have a interview with Penn Presby soon, but my mother (who lived in Philadelphia in the 70-80's) became upset because it is in a bad neighborhood. I am just wondering if anyone who has worked there likes or dislikes it, and what his/her experience was. Feel free to PM me for privacy concerns. Thank you very much for your time!
  20. Thank you for your response. I have applied to St. Mary's and Abington. I hope to hear from them soon, just stressful waiting!
  21. Hi there, I am a ICU experienced RN from Arizona. I have just moved to the Southampton, PA area and I need a job. I am 1 class away from getting my BSN (as in, I am enrolled in the class, and it finishes this December.) I feel like that is holding me back. I REALLY can't afford to be jobless until December. I have been applying for all the hospitals in the area. Any advice or does any PA RN know of any hospitals that would open to hiring someone like me. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance! :)
  22. Hi there! I am a RN with about a year of ICU under my belt. I work for CHW/now Dignity Health. I have worked at St. Joes and CRMC in the ICU and it is a great place to work. I know the parking is tight at St. Joes, but not bad at all, and the parking at Chandler is tight because we are building a new tower with new ICU beds. I would recommend St. Joe's for someone with your experience. It was my favorite place to work, but I lived over an hour away. Good luck with your job search, you can PM me if you have more questions.
  23. Thanks for your response. Job search is on the way!
  24. Thank you for your reply; that is very helpful. I am moving from Phoenix,AZ.
  25. Hello all, I'm looking for some help. I am moving to Southampton PA this summer. I have 3 years experience, 1 year in ICU and I will be finishing up my BSN this fall. Does anyone have any advice/suggestions for my job search? I did get my nursing license transferred already, so that's taken care of. I'm looking at hospitals in the area, especially St. Mary's medical center in Langhorne, PA. Has anyone worked there or have any advice? Any thoughts or suggestions would be SO appreciated!
