Are there any CNS out there?
TraumaRus, Thank you for your participation. Would you be able to clarify the role of an APN/CNS in your state? Some states place limitations on the role of a CNS. What limitations do you think CNS face nationwide, if not applicable to you. What long term and short term goals do you have as a CNS ? ( if u dont mind me asking) Do you plan on returning to school to further your education?

Are there any CNS out there?
Psychcns Thank you for your participation. Many nurses, including myself, have returned back to school to purse a Masters degree to be more marketable. A masters degree opens of a variety of career opportunities. The limitation of being able prescribe medication in only certain states is an issues that faces many cns. What do u think we can do as nurses or CNS to have that banned? Do you plan to go back to school to further your career? What are some of your long and short term goals? (if you dont mind me asking)

Are there any CNS out there?
Here are some starter questions. Thank you for your participation. 1. How many years of nursing experience did you have prior to becoming a CNS? 2. What made you want to return to school to obtain your msn as a CNS? What specialty or area do you practice as a CNS? 3. What state do you practice in and what is your job description? 4. Are there any limitations in your practice based on the state that you live in as oppose to other CNS in other states? 5. What issues do you face while working as a CNS or general issues that CNS face in their practice? Thank all for allowing me to interview you.

Suny Downstate RN to BSN Program
Hello All, I was wondering if any one will be attending the RN to BSN Program in Fall 2009. Has anyone received an acceptance letter or a letter stating that you were placed on the waiting list? I am in the process of completing 2 pre-requisites, anthropology and intro to computers and I was placed on a waiting list for the fall semester. I am a bit nervous because I have never been placed on a waiting list before and I have no idea what my chances of getting in are. If anyone is in the same situation or have already recieved an acceptance letter your feedback is appreciated. Thanks a bunch, Cherry

nclex rn result from NY
Hello, Have you checked the Pearson Vue website? My results were available after 48hours and I had to pay a fee of 9$. The test center that I went to also gave me a paper with a phone number on it where I could call an 800# to receive my results after 48 hours, if i did not have access to a computer. There is a fee for that service as well. Good Luck, Cherry

What is the average age of people entering nursing?
Hello All, I entered nursing school when I was 19 and now I am 22 and just landed a job in a busy Emergency Department. Ever since I was in elementary school I knew that I wanted to become a nurse. So after I graduated high school I went straight into nursing school. In my program there was a large variety of ages. I feel if nursing is what you truly want to do then there isn't any age that is considered too young or too old. :) Good Luck, Cherry

Letters of recommendation?
In my school, I requested letters of recommendation in late April early May because I graduated in June. The letters were handed to me(not in a sealed envelope) and I made photo copies of each and submitted them with my resume and cover letter to employers. I would suggest that you get at least 3 letters. Most places usually ask for 2. Good Luck, Cherry

Which Do You Prefer???
Thank You everyone for being so helpful. I had my eye on a Ultrascope as a present to myself :) but after reading all the replies I think I will save my money and get an extra pair of shoes. I bought a pair in June that I wore to pinning, hopefully my feet wont fail me after my first few 7p-7a shifts... Cherry

Interview
Let me first start by saying CONGRATS twice :) I'm a new grad and went on 3 interviews and received offers from ALL 3 hospitals. In two of the hospitals senior nurses were also being considered for the position. I would say the most important thing to emphasize is: Although I may lack experience over the other nurses I am ready and eager to learn. Also, it is easier to mold a new grad because of the lack of experience than to hire an experience nurse that may have their own way of doing things which do not go along with the hospitals policy.. Now of course this is not what i said word for word but something similar.. Good Luck on the interview and with your little ones :redpinkhe Cherry

Which Do You Prefer???
hello all, i am a new grad starting orientation in 2 weeks in a busy (90,000 visits) er. i have been using a prestige double tube stethoscope for 2 years during nursing school. i am aware that many medical professionals use littmann stethoscopes. although they are pricy, i have no problem purchasing one if necessary. do you think that i should invest in a littmann or is the prestige sufficient enough for the er? also, which do you prefer to use as an er nurse, single tube or double tube stethoscope? any advice is appreciated!!!! thank you in advance, cherry

Can't get a job!!!!
Although you are applying, are you also making follow up phone calls to Nursing Recruitment? I have found that hospitals are "too busy" to call back new grads. After submitting my resume, I made follow up phone calls every week to the point where the Nurse Recruiter knew my name and voice. I guess it worked because I received 3 interviews. Don't give up!! Most importantly be persistent :) Good Luck, Cherry
