I have a son who does this with blood draws, injections and just talking about IVs makes him nauseated... I wouldn't have believed it had I not witnessed it several times...

I agree with the previous posts. Ask questions when the nurse is able to answer, or show you. Most of all I wish students would understand that we can learn from each other. And please let the staff know or have the instructor inform staff abput what students can & can not do... And nurses need to remember that we were all students at one time....

I luv the UFC, working so much haven't had time to watch... I bet he is able to get all his frustrations out and not get in trouble. hahaha Somebody needs to post when he's fighting on TV so we can watch/TiVo...

I work in a facility where the nurses really do wear white. I am amazed at how much I like it.. I always swore I would never work at a place that tells me what to wear and bla bla bla. So I can honestly say that I had a change of heart. Nurses here look like nurses not like the other depts, and in a crisis situation I can glance up and know who can get drugs and call drs ect... Our pts comment all the time about the nurses wearing white and how much they like it. I do not think wearing white makes me a better nurse, and neither does our adm. or the docs. But we all can a nurse immediately. Our techs and the other depts are color coded, and yes the pts get that info on a pamplet. If a pt has a complaint they can identify the dept a person is in easily and not just assume it was a nurse. And yes our facility bought 2 sets of very nice scrubs for each of us. I know 2 is never enough to get through a week, but hey I never wonder what to wear to work anymore...

I am very open to suggestions for cholesterol reducing alternatives...My husband is scheduled for GI dr next week, and probably having a scope. I know it's the zocor, not a GI bleed. Although at 53 if he is willing have the colonoscopy, I am not objecting... I am so convienced it's the zocor I willl not shut up about it.... The more I read the more certain I am he has been having symptoms. Thanx for the reply

Thanx for the info... I have been doing some serious reading about the side effects of statins.. I am wondering about the anemia being a part of this syndrom.. I am sure I read that somewhere. As for the scopes, well as always the Dr wants to do top and bottom. I am so convienced his symptoms are statin related that I told our PCP we wanted to see the lab work before seeing a GI guy. I thought our Dr would be impressed with my putting this all together. We like him and up till now I have had such a great relationship with him and the nurses. I am so disappointed in him.

I am wondering if any one has experienced the side effects from zocor. My husband started zocor about 3 weeks ago. Last week he started having dyspnea nd chest pain, and horrible muscle spasms in his abd, looked like contractions during labor... He was admited and heart cath clean. labs showed elevated ck and anemia, serum ferritin was 5, rock bottom. He eats healthy and no active bleeding. I mentioned these side effects being from the zocor and Dr said that syndrom from a statin are so rare and about 1 in a million. Well all my nursing sense tells me these are signs of a reaction to the zocor... and my husband is one in a million........ any one have any adverse effects from the statins.. and today on the news I heard that statins are being recomended for more patients... thanx..

has anyone heard of the medication for "shift work sleep disorder" I believe it's called provigil. I have worked nights for almost 30 years and pretty much live on a night schedule. I am curious about this medication, it's also used for sleep apnea pts who have trouble staying awake.. I just heard about this from a pt with sleep apnea. any comments???

Ken, I was in Fort Worth downtown Kindred. I was very impressed with the wound care. I was very disappointed in the supervisory staff. The CNO was a great person, lacking in the ability to control her supervisors. I actually loved the patients, asnd most of the staff. Being a seasoned RN I have come to realize it was just one of those bad situations.. The money was great though.

Just hearing the word Kindred makes me wanna cry. It was the most awful experience of my 27 years being a nurse. It was not the palce or the patients, it was one supervisor. She made my life miserable. Without a doubt she was out to make me upset everyday and nobody but me. All the staf knew it and no one could figure out what her deal was. So that's my story ...

Power naps 30-40 minutes and I feel so much better. Now that I found this web site I don't have that issue any more.. I am too busy reading & responding to fall asleep...

Pt admited with neutropenia in my ICU. we put him in a isolation room, is his family supposed to wear masks, they have been around him in the ED and at home. HELP... I am wearing a mask...

I can tell you from experience, smoking pot is not worth the pain and anguish caused by that inevitable positive uds. I have been dealing with this since Oct. of 2002 and still fighting like a mad woman to retain my licence. Not to mention my dignity... I will retire one day, and I look forward to smoking pot again. I just wish as many nurses that have responded to this would go before congress and lobby for the legalazation of pot, espically for hospice patients ect..

sounds as if your co workers have too much time on their hands.. it takes alot of time & energy to be conspiring and gossi[ing all the time. the type of behavior you described creates such a negative environment to work in. i have experienced violence (by mouth) in the workplace. best thing you can do is pull up your big girl panties, and smile, tell everyone how you are happy to be there, and avoid idle chatting with coworkers. spend more time with the residents. anything to occupy yourself away from the gossiping ones. i recently lost a job i seriously loved because of one girls saying something about me.. i wish our profession was the way we were taught in school with write up and peer reviews required to terminate a nurse. i was simply told we have relieved you of your position. i am thinking wrongful termination. oh well if all else fails go get another position.. i did... take care poopsy
