  1. I too am a new working rehab. It keeps you busy and you have to be on your toes. Sometimes you don't know if a pt.s swelling is coming from them sitting for a long period of time for the first time in months or if their is something more. In a rehab hospital you have a lot of teamwork and you will have patients go down on you. You get a lil bit of everything in rehab except maternity. ANd if you are one of the few RNs in your facility you will be doing lots of assessments cause LPNs can't do the initial assessment. Have fun and get to learn about your patients, we have that advantage in rehab.
  2. You won't be able to move up in your current area? I just finished nursing at Southwest in Dec. I put in all the usual then I put in non typical ones and thats where I got my job from at Healthsouth but they wanted me to get my license first. I suggest just keep updating ur profile on their website everytime something happens. Most recruiters want the date u r gonna take boards. Always try the Va but u may want to wait until u have a set date with them. Wells wishes and congrats. Hope I helped.
  3. Southwest Tennessee Community College- Memphis, TN. We had to have a 950 or >.
  4. Hi I just got a RN position at HS and wanted to know if anyone had any opinions about the place. I'm a new grad and I have heard good things so far. I start Orientation in April and just wanted to know more 'inside scoop' I guess. Thanks and how does the holiday thing work? Thanks again!
  5. Since you're willing to travel why not travel nursing. U have experience under your belt and maybe u will get to go to all the those states and see which one's you like. BUt I also heard that there were a lot positions in TX.
  6. Thanks. I really hope I did I got all 265 questions!
  7. Our records indicate that you already exist in our system. Help!!!
  8. Congrats on getting in I am in the last semester in the program in the night program. My advice to you is keep up with all of ur paperwork that u have to turn in. Make lots of copies! And don't drag all those books to class either u only need the main one. Have fun and good luck to the others applying I didn't have the best of scores but I got in.
  9. If you get to pick your own pt then pick one with either a lot of problems(Lots of paperwork) or someone that seems to have nothing at all wrong with them. During my Med-Surg rotation the pts I can't forget is are: 1) had HIV/AIDS w/ Anal Cancer that was some work there and he got all types of meds that needed to be hung and he want his pain meds q2hrs and u betta not b late with them either. He kept me busy great pt though. 20) This lady came in for abd pain that's it and she had HBP. When I got there they had just done a CT and found out that she had an abdominal aneurysm(excuse my spelling) and I was like what I haven't gotten to that chapter in the book yet. But I was able to go on the web and look things up for her. She and I both were nervous. But it was exciting, My instructor said I was too much trouble at the end of my rotation cause I got the most unusual pt. I didn't do it on purpose. And if you don't get to pick your own pt and ur pt is not a needy one volunteer to help ur classmates and stand in the halls cause some nurses love students and will grab u to do different things. So don't hide out in the lounge. Good Luck. I'm goin into Med-Surg 2 and I am nervous as heck.
  10. I am going into my last semester for my RN I will taking: Adult Health II w/ Clinical Nursing Management Yeah!
  11. Hi, I just started Southwest's nursing program last month. It is a lot of work and you have to be very organized. The program is fast paced. You will be going into the hospital about the fourth week into classes. But the other students are great and everyone kind of supports one another. If you can email I will try to send you book lists so that you can start to purchase them now because it's a lot of books and you have to buy your uniform amongst other things. You may want to start investing in a good stethscope now also. One is included in the bag you purchase but some people having problems hearing. Besides that all I can say is breath. My name is Stefanie and you can ask me as many questions as you like. I wish I knew about this before I started so that I could have had someone to help guide me a little.
