I thought I was going to die.
Sometimes you have to let your ego/pride get a little bruised there are people out there who will make your life a living hell, just because you tried to prove them wrong. I was like you for a long time, if I was right I wanted the other person to know they were wrong! But a lot of the time its more beneficial to just let it go. However to cover your own butt, make sure you document in someway that were infact not late on this assignment.

Do Any Of Your Schools Have A Student Nursing Club

What you did at clinical you will not do again
When burping Colostomy bags, Vick's Vapor rub is your friend. Learn to touch people Never turn your back on any patient (learned that one the hard way-Elderly man attacked me, Alzheimers)

I thought I was going to die.
Not sure if you want to pursue this in any way, but if you do get failed (i just read this first paragraph btw) the syllabus is considered a legal binding document. A professor can change dates around; students have to be notified and a reason given, but i am sure that moving them forward isn't done that often. But you will also have to consider the repercussions of pursuing it further because some people hold a grudge. Im not sure that helps, but I hope it does.

Nursing education
Diplomas are usually given when you are taught nursing in a working environment, like apprentice to journeyman type of thing. These are really not done anymore. Most of the time you go to school for an Associates of nursing to become an LPN, and the full BSN is a 4 year program. To start out the pay is usually the same, however in the long run the BSN will give you more oportunities.
-
When did you start clinicals?
I wonder how far into BSN clinicals usually start

When did you start clinicals?
Just curious at what point did you start clinicals in school?

Should I go for the interview??
hmm tough call, if it was me given the information you have provided I would not take this new job because of the commute time and another associated costs.
-
Should I go for the interview??
in your post you said 24 hours, 9am-9pm, did you mean 9am to 9am? Also how did they advertise that kind of pay? ultimately it is up to you, you also have to factor in drive time, and if you get a hotel room you can kiss 50-150 bucks from your pay each week, 200-600 a month. Now if they have certain overtime laws there like in alaska any time worked over 8 in a day is overtime. So if it was 24 hour shift in alaska that would actually be triple time for the last 8 hours. Im just throwing a lot of info at you. Hope it helps

How to apply
well, good thing for you there are still nursing shortages all over the US, another good thing you said was that you liked rural areas. But my suggestion would be look for a state or city you want to move too, then look at some online job sites, also find a place then look for local hospitals and look at their job site. As for hiring new grads from out of state? Of course they will!

RN Earnings and Work Environment
http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Registered_Nurse_(RN)/Hourly_Rate tons of information you can gather from google search. One of the great things about nursing is it is so varied. However after reading your last line about having a bad back and unable to stand for long periods at a time, if you work in a hospital understand that the norm is 12 hour shifts. If you are really serious about getting info contact a nursing adviser in your area or try and set up a shadow of a nurse in your area [edit] adding a few things to answer your post. one thing to consider for pay is differentials, you usually get paid more for working evenings and nights, this can be just a dollar an hour to 10 or more in some areas. And your pay in hospitals versus docs office are as varied as there are people on earth. Is there a cap? well I suppose in a sense there is a cap. Pay is usually limited by your degree(associates vs bsn vs msn vs crna vs np) and experience.

Surgery Observation tomorrow.....
Yea, I suppose the only cool thing about that is the colostomy is considered non sterile, so they usually let you in a bit closer and are a bit more chatty about whats going on. Also there are a ton of different kinds of hernias so thats pretty open as to what it could be. Have fun, and dont worry about anything.

Are we allowed to gloat here?
Nothing wrong with giving yourself a pat on the back, sometimes you are the only one who will do it. So go to town with congratulating yourself, I know I do when I deserve it.

Heart Sounds and Stethoscope
Sometimes they unscrew, and if you have narrow ears the smaller peices might get them farther in, and thus making it louder. Another thing, some people just have louder hearts.... lub dup am I right?

Just Started A&P...Need Advice and Or Help! A little long...
Read the material first. then go to lecture. It helps a lot trust me. Also if you want record the lectures so you dont miss anything. I usually recorded lectures so I could listen to them live and then I would take notes from the recording.

Made a Mistake
Me personally I don't discuss anything I don't feel comfortable discussing. Grades is something I really have no problem discussing, like you I do very well. In my experience people get the grades they earn, if I study 10+ hours for an exam I expect myself to get an A. And like you I have offered to help people on exams and they accepted, but what they dont know is that helping/teaching/tutoring them makes you learn the material better. Because you have to know the material in order to teach it. But back to the main subject, if they are being negative towards you because you are succeeding and they are not, so what. Smartness is not a fault no matter what some ridiculous societal norms tell us.... Be prideful you are doing well you earned it! Josh

Nights or Days? What say you?
I was talking with a few people about this and it got me wondering, what do you as a nurse prefer to work and why? Me, I love working nights. Usually a lot more autonomy(depending on your unit) Not nearly as many distractions and I'm just a night owl. Only thing I do not like working nights is having to call the on call doc sometimes(you know they love it)

U of Michigan Flint - Second Degree Program/CRNA
Im assuming Nursing is your current or last major. 60 credits is usually the last 2 years of school. They do this for a couple reason first they want to see how you do in nursing courses in general, they want to see what your previous credit load was(CRNA is intense) to make sure you can handle it, another thing they are looking for is trends in your acedemic career whether its good or not so good. If thats not what you mean feel free to clarify a bit. Josh

U of Michigan Flint - Second Degree Program/CRNA
They look at your cumulative GPA. So all of your credits, but they pay special attention to your last 60 credits usually. May I direct you to https://allnurses.com/forums/f16/ Use the pre-crna forum the student and the CRNA forum. and just a heads up anything you post will not be posted immediately it has to be approved first so dont worry

RNs...What are the CNA's duty in the hospital you work ?
Lets see, you will chart, toilet, change linens(sometimes) get water, transport patients if need be(I did a lot of xray runs). Sometimes you will only have one patient because they have special needs(usually a very boring day), chart, get bp, O2 sat, pulse resperations, did i mention you will chart?:typing. Your days are usually long and hard. Most of the time understaffed. I only remember 2 times in 2 years where we had low census and I was sent home on PTO(paid time off-not something you want, takes away from vacation time). Sometimes you will get blood glucose levels. I helped an RN with a code once(scary). Sometimes you will have to do Post Mordem care. You might have to feed people who can not feed them selves. There is actually quite a lot you do. But I would much rather have something to do then be bored out of my mind on a 12 hour shift. Hope that gives you some insights. Josh
