  1. Some schools do not base acceptance only on grades. While they do play a big part some take other things into consideration, the application essay, for example, in our school plays a big part among other things. There are people in our program that got a C in one or two classes and are doing really well now. If it is something that you really want to do then all you can do is try, and if you are not accepted the first time keep applying until you do. Good luck!!
  2. I agree I would probably pick A and then not help them again or at least not show them any of my previous work. If it does come that the teacher finds out. Your power point presentation should have a file date that shows when you created it. Just make sure to keep it handy.
  3. I am really new to nursing dx but I think you may be on the right track by switching the r/t with the AEB's. Would it not be Disturbed body image rt presence of trach tube and the AEB would be the signs and symptoms of disturbed body image like those in the NANDA? Like I said I am really new so hopefully Daytonite will come on and help you. Sorry I know I am not much help.
  4. Congratulations!! I am just finishing my first quarter and I can't wait to be where you are now!! It is always so inspiring to hear about someone that made it through school and is ready to head out into the world of nursing. Good luck on the NCLEX I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
  5. Congratulations!!!! Mine is not until the end of the week but, I am taking a break from studying for a few to check out the boards. Hope you have a good break over the holiday. Get some well deserved sleep!!
  6. Maybe it is an intimacy issue. I know your thinking we bathe the patients, dress them, provide peri care, change their bed linen etc, how much more intimate could that be? But for some back rubs are a different kind of intimacy something that is shared between two people that are very close personally. I could be wrong on this but there was someone in our class that when this was brought up those were her reasons. She has since gotten over this but it was tough for her for awhile. She realized how this relaxed the patients and made it easier for them to get some rest and also realized that the 10 minutes or so spent doing this also cut down on the amount of time she made call light runs for restless patients.
  7. I am glad you got a good chuckle out of my answer, but seriously Daytonite is right. You may get those questions for awhile and then hopefully they will start asking how school is going and be truly interested. I got the same questions and remarks when I was accepted. I won't lie to you school has been a lot of work but I am also having a blast finally doing something that I really enjoy. I have also met a great group of people in my class and you will too. Keep your head up and you will do fine! Congratulations!!!!
  8. Don't let it get you down you should be proud of what you accomplished and look forward to whats to come. Maybe they feel you might leave them behind, or they feel bad that you are moving up in the world and they are not. Keep your head up and if you really want to have some fun answer the questions with off the wall answers like these (make sure you say them with a strait face. "Oh! How in the World are you going to manage?" With an iron fist! "Are you sure you want to do this?" It sounded like a good idea at the time and it looks like so fun on ER. "I don't know how in the world they accepted you!" I slept with the head of admissions. Guess it work!
  9. I did it for 2 years while taking my pre-recs. It was not fun some days. I just had to make sure to watch the weather reports for snow and get up and leave earlier if it did to allow for the extra driving time. I worked at the school part-time and in town part-time so I guess you could say I worked full-time. There is a girl in my class who lives a little over an hour away now and travels everyday to class and works around 30 hours a week. I guess you just have to remember how important this is to you and realize it is only for a couple of years. Hope this helped.
  10. Congratulations!! :yeah:We have our foley checkoffs next week. Hope I do as well as you.
  11. Congratulations on your test score!!!!:yeah:And yes I too get that little voice and a breakfast ritual. I only eat oatmeal on test day and I have what I call my Darth Vader voice. The force is strong in you young Skywalker. So far it has worked for me! Hope the rest of your term goes as well, go do the happy dance and may the force be with you!!!
  12. What about Acute Pain r/t inflammatory changes in tissues from infection and Impaired Skin Integrity r/t inflammatory process damaging skin? I am kinda new at this too but it you look up cellulitis in the NANDA those are the two ND it gives you. Hope this helps.
  13. Have you checked into WIA in your state? Our is through the unemployment office. They cover tuition, books, and supplies for most of the people at our school. Hope that helps.
  14. Thank you guys so much for all the information. I hope to be able to keep you updated.
