OBs doing unnecessary C-Sections and inductions
ok if i remember correctly cdc.gov has some info, on c sections rates. so would nih(national institute of health) march of dimes has info on gestational ages of infants and per state, oh and the big one medicaid and medicare services...and your local department of human services website in oklahoma ours is OKDHS.org im sure your state would be like this... CDC is very good for this one because on delivery of babies moms are asked questions for vital statistics the info goes to cdc and nih.. good luck... c/s rate when up to a high i remember 2 years ago 36% for the country at the time im 100% sure because of inductions... do me a favor and prove...

Do you feel like you do enough?
Delegate, Delegate, Delagate, if you have the time for rubbing lotion do it, but if you know that you have 6 pt's all with nine o'clock meds you need help! this is an example when to have for help... I love pt care but there will never be enough time for me to do everything i always want to do to help. good thing i have a great team of people around to help,, when people help trust me you are not staying to late in charting... if you have trouble delegating practice asking little things first. .... ask for the car. last... scary how easy it is for me now... just remember if the person you ask for help needs alittle help and you have time... it doesn't hurt to help them too. aide, tech, lpn, rn ... it pays at the end.

need help to choose a maternity project ttile!
i say do preterm labor, just because tons of research google the March of dimes website, they have statistics and stuff for each state, cdc.gov, also stats preterm rates i think by race and age group. Also in college my schoolmate and i did ptl and pro's and cons of infant demise of 22 wkers. ethics of whether or not to rescusitate she did pros and i did cons ... hope this helps all the topics are great if you are doing your clinicals on an ob floor. ask one of the nurses about some info they give to pts. about ptl or the the nurse educator . they should have plenty of hand outs..

Do birth plans grate on your nerves?
- OU's NP or Frontier School in Kentucky
OK, peeps, I am currently trying to decide on where to go for np.... HELLLLP,, not the sydrome, seriously anyone know anything about OU family nurse practitioner track puleaze... let me know.....- Do birth plans grate on your nerves?
Birth plans aren't so bad if people research things out a little more, i mean our hospital hasn't given a routine enema for a labor pt in like thirty years why are people still writing that crap (literally) down still Please talk to your dr, hosptial... It will save time when pts write out the 4 page birth plan,, it they would be aware of current practice..- How to get L&D experience
Many hospitals have nursing apprentices or nurse interns, in various units.. This is for nursing students that have finished 2 or so semesters in nursing school.. Try calling some of the hospitals you are interested working.. Call their Nurse Recruiter.. It might get your foot in the door, also you could find out if you really want to work there after graduation- The Business of Being Born: Documentary
I thought this would trash us nurses, but it is an awesome movie...kuddos:twocents:- fundal checks
Only, one time i remember we had a c/s patient whose bladder was nic during deliver ..... but we were ordered not 2 do fundal checks because of her abdominal aortic aneurysm( sp?).....- for Labor and Delivery Nurse
No matter what field in nursing you go into these type of situations happen. I found that I could be really strong for my patients when they needed me to be. And if they are crying, it is ok to hold their hand, hug them, and cry with them... Some people shy away when they know their is a fetal demise on the floor, you don't always need to know what to say.. just take the best care you can and mean it..... always the best of luck 2 ya- Where do you work?
hello, I work @saint anthony l&d fulltime for 5 years, now prn. I also work ou med endoscopy fulltime....- RNC-OB exam today!
Congrats, I took the test in January Im so happy u did the math on the pit question. I started to think i was crazy during the test.... - OU's NP or Frontier School in Kentucky
