  1. Dropping in real quick. I am black and every DaJuana I have ever met has been as well. Turns out the VP of my department has that name and is white as white can be. Blew my mind! How is that for stereotyping?
  2. 1. what is your degree in? bs biology/ba american literature, working on an lvn, then on to an accelerated bsn/msn 2. what state do you live in? southern california, specifically antelope valley 3. what is your job title? clinical ops specialist 4. how much do you make an hour? 32.00 5. how much do you make a year? multiply by 2080 6. what do you like about your job? working from home while in school 7. what don't you like about your job? not being done with my certificate program for lvn allows me no respect from the physicians i audit. it is a double edged sword, but at least i don't have to see them everyday ;.)
  3. I am a current LVN student at AVC and sadly the LVN to RN bridge program depends on the school's funding. It is not a priority. You may well wait up to 3 semesters. Some of the professors are not so nice, 2 I can think of in particular. Others are fantastic. It is a rigorous program and you do have to be accountable for yourself. I would suggest if you have thin skin to look elsewhere. As a VN student, we are treated much differently than the RN students, and for that very reason, I would'nt attend AVC's RN program if you paid me to go. HTH.
  4. Hello, I will be starting the LVN program at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, CA. It is a year long program ending in early August 2011. I am excited and intimidated by hopeful...
  5. I start on the 23rd as well, good luck!
  6. [color=#ffa500]1* what's the overall cost of your program? about 1550.00 2* if u qualify for financial aid than what's the remaining amount that u have to pay overall? i make too much to qualify 3* what school r-u-goin' to? antelope valley college 4* where's your school located? lancaster, ca (known as the high desert)
  7. I will be attended Antelope Valley College LVN program, I would suggest you go that route, it is much cheaper
  8. Do you mind me asking what school and in what area do you attend?
  9. Call AV College and speak to the nursing department. The CNA program there is excellent but since the town is so small you will have to go and sign up for the class at the crack of dawn and stand in a long line. But if you show your dedication you are certain to get in. Good luck!
  10. The actual demand I cannot speak of. But I can say the jobs that pay more are the inpatient abstracting coding jobs. Get your inpatient certification and training, it will benefit you more as you are already an RN and you are more likely to be able to work from home.
  11. Goodness. Thank you for all the info. I am thinking I will do well and hopefully get in, if not back to the drawing board. I also applied for AV College LVN program which is around the corner from my house. Wish me luck, I will post again, after I have actually applied.:redpinkhe
  12. Good luck, I know I am late on the response. I am trying to go to West Valley or North Valley, now I am hearing they only accept 15 students each year. DANG!
  13. JEEZ no I sure didnt know they only accept 15 people~ DANG! I cant believe they cancelled your class. I am so sorry, but at least you get to finish. Have you found the classes to be challenging so far? I am going to apply in January as was suggested and hope for the best. I am done with my engligh pre-req's and I am taking algebra for my spring semester, so I should be set for the assesments.
  14. I know this post if old, but can you tell me if it was difficult for your friend to get into the program here? I am looking to apply in Jan 09 for a September 09 start date.
