I have to take and OB and a Peds Hesi, but not until the end of the semester. Are they just basically like nursing exams (NCLEX type questions)? It makes me kind of nervous since it counts for part of our grade in class. Thanks. Oh, AmyB - sorry, but GO CARDS!!
  2. Sometimes I wish I had that problem, but mine is the opposite! I have trouble finding pants that go up high enough. I hate the feeling that I'm going to look like the plumber (I know,a stereotype, but you know what I'm getting at) everytime I bend over or squat down.
  3. I would ask the supervisor/director/charge nurse if I could make copies of the forms they use when the computers are down. Or you could just take the time some day and write down the areas you need to assess and chart on and type that up and take it with you room to room.
  4. Mine is the traditional 10 point scale. 90-100 = A 80-89 = B 70-79 = C Anything below a C is failing. But we do round up. So a 69.5 is passing.
  5. We just finished up a unit on GI disorders and we were taught to palpate at McBurney's point in the right lower quadrant. That's also how we were taught in assessment. :uhoh21: Kinda scares me if we've been taught the wrong way.
  6. We have a SNA at our school. I paid my $15 last semester and have been to one meeting. All of the officers are from the same semester, so they schedule meeting times when it is convenient for them. As it turns out, the majority of the people have class at that time. We have done absolutely nothing since August. We haven't done anything fun, haven't raised money, etc. We get e-mails which basically tell us that we need to attend the meeting. Let me think, go to the SNA meeting, or go to clinical? Tough choice. Anyway, sorry to rant. It's been a long couple of weeks.
  7. At my school, they use item analysis to see if the majority of the class missed a particular question. If they did, the question is usually thrown out (everyone gets the points, so its extra if you got it right). Their reasoning for this is that if the majority of the class missed it, it either wasn't taught very well or the question was worded funny. This seems to be pretty fair, and if you happen to get it right, you just got an extra point.
  8. My mom's boss swears by Zykam. It's like a gel you spray in your nose. It worked for my mom last year too. She used it for like 2 days and felt (and sounded) better. From what I know, it just reduces your symptoms or something like that. Not really sure. Hope you feel better!
  9. In A&P I learned the On Old Olympus one. For sensory, motor, or both, I leared Some Say Marry Money But My Brother Says Big Butts Matter Most.
  10. I'm in my first semester of nursing classes and we did VS last week. I had so much trouble hearing, especially since I had practiced using my own steth and we had to use the double ones for test out. Like someone else said, once you hear it, you know what it sounds like, and it will be hard to miss later. One thing I realized was if I use the other ear pieces (the ones that are kind of flat on one side - kind of disc shaped) I can hear much better. Good luck to you. I'm sure once you hear it, you'll wonder how you could have missed it. (I know I did!)
