  1. I am starting on my own tomorrow, three days in a row...I would rather do 3 in a row. I am nervous about everything- we are a small unit (not an ICU but an intense step down unit) most of the nurses are brand new grads like me....I really need help with time management and such....can anyone give me any advise/words of encouragement?!?!
  2. I didn't get math either...just passed last Friday with 75 questions. good luck!!!!=)
  3. congrats, just found out myself as well that I passed!!!! what a wonderful feeling!!!!

  7. loved hurst review!! thought her way of presenting the material was very good! great idea to refresh material learned in the nursing program and gave you advice on answering questions too! hope to have my results today...took nclex Friday 6/11/10
  8. great advice..i did the same thing when it came to any drug or disease i didn't know...best of luck to you...also cut off at 75 and got the good pop up. not knowing anything about a particular drug on this exam sucked!!!!! i thought it was awful!! but i did what you did regarding the answers!
  9. I am in the same boat as you...took my NCLEX Friday and soooo anxious for the results...got the good pop up is it 48 hours ater you test?!?! keep me posted when you get yours best of luck!
  10. you will do GREAT- you know what to expect now- good luck to you- keep your head up, take it again...dont let it get you down (I know easier said than done)
  11. what a positive attitude you have :yeah:you CAN do this- you know what to expect next time and you'll do great keep your head up!
  12. I got the good pop up...granted I only took my exam about 3 hours ago...but I am crossing my fingers with this trick...I was cut off at 75 questions.
  13. good luck to you...I tried the pearson vue trick and got the good pop up..::crossing my fingers:: how did you feel about your exam?
  14. Just got home from taking my exam...75 questions...I must say it was A LOT like the HESI exams we had to take in school...I had a handful of SATA and drugs I have never heard about as well as several priority questions....the waiting now is the hard part...some of my anxiety has gone away (seeing there is nothing I can change now) but the wait is going to be torture!
  15. good luck=)
  16. i am a new graduate nurse starting out... the hospital has me as full time making around 20.00 i am going to request to change my status to prn (planning to work 3 days per week) for more $$ since i do not need benefits, sick time, vacation time etc basically full time without benefits....do you think this is a good idea? do you think that my manager would even approve something like this? isn't it cheaper for them to have me as prn vs full time without benefits??? i'd like to know the pros and cons to this and if it's even a good idea...i think this will cost the hospital less to have me on staff seeing they only pay me while i am there... please help!
  17. I interviewed with a rotation program a while back...in my opinion it kinda sucked!! I felt thrilled to be called in for an interview since my application was chosen...it was something I really wanted to do. I worked at another local hospital as a tech had MORE experience than a TGH tech since they are only allowed to do simple things (ie no blood draws or foleys) I had wonderful letters of recommendation that no other student had (teachers and co workers and prior employers straight up telling them how great I would do in the position blah blah blah) and wonderful interview...got great grades in school...and who did they end up hiring?!??! internally....they picked a couple of students from my own class that were as far as skills and nuring thinking below average...I was totally shocked about this....I question a hospital that hires their own vs. people that are better suited to do well in the program. I ended up staying at the hospital I was at (since I already was offered a job) but I wanted to let you know my story with TGH...I love where I am and feel like it was a great decision for me I ended up going to the CCU and have been there since I have had job offers at TGH since and have turned them down just for the quality of employees they were looking for at the time...it really was scary and I know it hasn't changed. Just be aware that they do this and I wish you good luck let me know how it goes...
  18. YES take the job any experience is great!!!! you'll get your feet wet and then try looking for a hospital position if thats what you want to do- you may just love working in a Dr office...BTW how did you land a Dr office position?
  19. I think thats great that you know what you want to do and where you want to go...In my opinion since you are pretty specific, I would sit down with a nursing advisor at your school or contact a future potential employer and tell them your "goal" what you want to do and see what they say...sorry I am not much help however I think this is the best route to go to get you where you want to be- good luck and congrats!!
  20. I have a little dilemma here...I currently work PRN as a tech...the first two weeks we had off I worked 3 12 hour shifts...last week I worked two and this week I worked two. I really think and feel I need time to rest after this nursing program!!! I already have a job lined up and I think i DESERVE a little break- even if you consider working 2 days per week a break...( I do I think ) however my husband asks why I am not working full time and acts like my preceptorship is not going to be full time (it's 3 12 hour shifts per week) and wonders why I am not working during preceptorship too....how can I explan to this guy that I am working full time with out losing it? money is not a factor here....I was very upset yesterday because he just doenst get me at all right now when it comes to work...and I have a job at home too ( I do ALL the cooking cleaning and laundry ) my 3 days at the hospital total 36+ hours no matter if I work 3 days or 5 I am freakin working FULL time he then goes on to say that plenty of nurses work 4 12 hour shifts in a week...I personally think this is CRAZY I am exhausted after 3....and was indirectly saying that he expects me to work this upon graduation- another reason I got sooooo upset....thats like 48+ hours and the household to take care of:uhoh3: Sorry, I need to vent and a way to explain this to him (he is VERY stubborn and hard headed)
  21. ahh yes... just purchased a new Corvette Convertible (weekend car) and Cadillac CTS-V (daily driver) great feeling to have funds again=):)
  22. try to work as a tech at a hospital before graduation they are all looking for experience before graduation and with all the new nurses they can be choosy- any experience is good experience!!
  23. I am having a hard time coming up with a 30 word appreciation note to be displayed at graduation. I really want to thank my family and friends for their love and support though out this journey aka nursing school but am having a hard time thinking of something cleaver...could be because I only have one day to do this? and the exit exam is on the same day...I'd appreciate any suggestions! thanks
  24. does anyone have time to review my resume? I have a question regarding mine....it has to do with a summer program I joined with an area health center over the past summer and I want to make sure my resume is in the right format. thank you
