I agree with the first poster. It was gotten easier in that you should be in the groove of clinicals and classes but it def. got alot harder content wise. They expect you to build on what you have learned and use info from previous classes to answer test questions and in clinical.

Questions like this come up all the time. The point of them is to get you to think about the fact that not everyone believes the same way you do about things. We took a whole class that was only about these kinds of topics.

I posted this on the community health nursing board but have not received any respond so I thought that I would ask you guys over here also. I am currently taking a Community health class in NS and was given the assignment of interviewing a Community/Public health nurse. If anyone would answer the questions(there are only a few) it would be awesome and greatly appreciated. Thanks! How long have you worked in your present position? What activities do you undertake in the position? What is a "typical" day like? How were you prepared for the position? Any special education or training? How do you focus on the "community as client" rather than an individual? Do you consider health promotion and disease prevention activities important in your position? Why or why not? How satisfied are you with your role?

For me it is like comparing kindergarten to high school. I would love for nursing school to be as easy as prereqs were.

You mad that your teacher did not give you anything to do over Spring Break b/c you feel like you are wasting your time.

For my program you had to receive a B in both A&P I and II. They wouldn't even consider you if you had not receive the proper grade.

About 4 or 5. As far as prioritizing it goes NS first then everything else.

First take a deep breath....ok now. I just had my first clinical this past weekend and only had one patient. We were there from 8-3 and i actually ran out of time. You will be doing assessments and such and in between while your patient is resting ect. you will most likely be looking at his chart or something to gather nursing information. Believe me one patient is enough.

When I started I was told that about 200 apply and 75 get in. Once you get in they start weeding out the people that truly are going to cut it very quickly. They kept telling us that only 50% of the people we started with will continue, but I think that is a stat that goes with alot of nursing schools.

Good luck telling your professor you want to op out. If I said that they would most likely tell me that I need to reconsider my career choice. Part of nursing is being uncomfortable, it isn't easy!

You are just lucky that you get the option to chose a professor in the first place. We are stuck with whoever they give us and there is not another class to switch to.

I think that the reasoning behind doing it is to get practice and like it was said before it lets you feel how it feels to be on the other end of the treatments. How would you feel if a nursing student came in to do some procedure on you are it was completely obvious that it was the first time they had done it. You would be uncomfortable. The only way to be efficient in something is to practice. When dealing with patients in a clinical setting you have to keep in mind that they are people to not something for you to learn on. You cannot go in there and feel that you can "learn" on a patient that just wants to receive adequate care.
