  1. Hi OP, be persistent! Get back in front of their face. Show them and tell them you want the position still. Good luck!
  2. yes, 1100 people applied for 20 positions. They were only interviewing 85. So we have 1 in 4 chance of getting hired after this first interview. They stressed that the positions would be on a variety of med-surg floors, nights, 5 eight hour shifts per week, half will be benefited and half will not (at least it is paid, I heard Stanford new residency programs were unpaid for a year, 40 hours per week!), $50/hr. WH wants a 2 year commitment. The training will be class time and then floor time, and class time and floor time, then class time, then we will be released. 2-3 months of training. I was surprised I got an interview. This was the first interview I have had-- I have been applying for jobs since March. So it was nice to finally get some recognition after filling out electronic application after application and not hearing any word. If we get invited to the second interview next week, they could let us know less than 24 hours in advance.
  3. did you get hired? I was wondering how you like it and how the interviews went!
  4. any tips on the interview? I have an initial interview coming up.
  5. Good Luck Everyone :redpinkhe:redpinkhe:w00t::w00t:
  6. Hello everyone! I found an MD who runs a med-spa near the Delaware and Maryland border who offers hands on training for botox and dermal fillers. She charges, but from what I have heard from everyone, hands on training is better than a paper certification. Nurses in Maryland will soon be able to do injectables, in Delaware they already allow it. But you have to work in the same office as an MD.
  7. i tried the credit card trick to reschedule, but it wouldnt let me, so I felt a little happy that i might have passed. i paid $8 on pearson vue on Saturday Morning, I took the NCLEX on Thursday.... and I passed! I used a little bit of the questions on a Saunders disc...i do not recommend that, they were so basic....i used ATI/CARP it is a program my school uses, and it was almost exactly like the NCLEX if a little harder. good luck!!
  8. I channeled Florence Nightingale to help me ;0)
  9. I just took the NCLEX today, it shut off after 75 questions. I got in the top 1% on the HESI, and 70% on the practice exams....sooooo I am taking this as a good sign. I also tried the "pop up" trick, and I was not able to put in my credit card info. I can't wait to get my credentials behind my name....still a little nervous, no champagne for me yet!!!!!!
  10. Cool! Well good luck! Childrens or Swedish post new jobs on twitter they said. And I know a natural health practitioner if you are interested in part time work. Research functional medicine.
  11. Hi itri4vt, Have you already endorsed your license? I decided I wouldn't waste my time anymore by applying to places without that, and while I lived out of state. I talked to various recruiters and hospitals and they encouraged me to that. I actually have been entertaining going back to my hometown in CA where I have friends, family and a part time health care job waiting for me.....so I take the Maryland NCLEX tomorrow, then once I get to CA at the end of the month (with MD license in hand) I will go straight to Sacramento to apply for the temp license...it costs an extra $50...totaling $200. Then I will apply to jobs once everything is all set up. Good luck to you!!!! :redbeathe
  12. I just spoke with the board of nursing in Maryland and Delaware...Maryland has legislation that is approved but is waiting to be signed by the new Secretary to take effect that would allow RNs to do botox and dermal fillers with a physician present. Delaware already allows RNs to do those injections, but again, with a physician present. I am contacting a few doctors I know that do plastics and have a medispa to see if they will train me.
  13. A nurse should start a business training others how to inject! woo!
  14. What is the scoop now in California for an RN to do dermal filler and botox?
  15. bumppp, I am also interested in training!
  16. @Benessie did you move to WA yet? Hows the job situation? Did you get one before moving once you had your WA license? I am in MD, I will take the NCLEX Feb 3, then I want to endorse right away.
  17. Hi KFoss! Have you spoken with the school to let them know where you are at with the prereqs? I got accepted even though school started in a few months and I was still finishing up the last prereq...they just wanted it done by the first day of school, luckily, it was online, self pace, so I powered through. But admissions may be able to give you some advice if you haven't already spoken with them. I worked the second out of 3 semesters...the first semester of nursing school you just have to hold on tight for the ride, manage your stress, everything is new, it is a culture shock, you want to find out right away what text books you need to read and which ones you don't. the last semester was just too crazy busy and I am not Type A....I need my vegg time. I worked as a physician scribe in the emergency department...the shifts were between 8-10 hours...really great experience, I think that is what helped me ace the HESI (NCLEX predictor exam). I still got student loans for a second bachelors degree...all my previous loans were consolidated with Xpress Loans ($30k)...so I just put that on hold while in school (they are so awesome and wonderful, so helpful). I get a 6-9 month grace period for my nursing school loans so then I will consolidate them with the Xpress company ...and start paying it all off....$500/month, ouch! I got my degree in Maryland, at a small college/university. I went out of state. I am looking for jobs in Washington, Maryland and California (that's where I am from). I need to pretty much get my WA license and move there before anyone is going to take me seriously, I have gotten several calls from staffing agencies and hospitals explaining this....they have all been soo nice about it though. I was going to do a Critical Care new grad program at one hospital here in Maryland, and after going through all the rigamarole, they just called to say they canceled the program due to low census and budget....which most hospitals in the nation have cut the programs....but I just yesterday called the hospital next to my school and they were very enthusiastic and have given a lot of students in our program jobs already, event though they have not taken the NCLEX yet....so I think I might be getting hired there, albeit part time. California (the Bay Area) is inundated with new grad applicants. I applied to a VA hospital and 1200 people applied for 8 positions!!!! And the hospital probably already knew who they were hiring, they legally have to post the job. lame! Soooo, I think I just might have to get my initial experience here in MD.....but as soon as I pass the NCLEX (Feb 3) then I will endorse to CA and WA just to have those options later on, and it takes several weeks to go through. I am trying not to be depressed about staying here longer...however, I was glad I came here for school, it was an excellent program, cheap, and quick. Good Luck! I would go BSN...you are going to want to do that eventually, and some hospitals only hire BSN. Just get the pain over with at one time!
  18. Bump....any new info on hourly pay? thank you!
  19. Thank you too! I will follow up on this information! Any update....3 years later? Thank you! I am a new grad, BSN
  20. thank you! i just spoke with Children's and the nurse recruiter said it could take up to 6 weeks! But that you can go in person to pay with a money order and that may speed it up. I am working with an agency and they also reported they were able to expedite licenses....hmmm, i first have to pass the NCLEX in MD...
  21. I too am relocating to Seattle, brand new 2nd degree BSN. I have a part time job lined up but not in a hospital and I really want that hospital experience....I'll check the twitter and childrens daily. Thank you! Ps is it better to Transfer license in person when I get there or ahead of time---for shortest wait period. Thanks!
  22. did you ever get any info? i am looking into a master's program too, not CRNA
  23. some hospitals only hire BSN nurses. it is a wonderful degree to have because if gives you a lot more flexibility in your career, if you want to work in other roles, or even in a different field....plus, then you can continue your education etc. what is your end goal? what will it take to get there? what is the shortest/cheapest/convenient route for your plan? map it out! good luck!
