Hey guys me again..anyways thanks for the advice dee. I did what you said, I went to Southern Hills Hospital and did exactly what u said..didnt get a callback from the Unit Manager but it was worth trying. I've applied everywhere I could think of and no luck. 18 positions at Sunrise 25 positions at SpringValley etc etc...the list goes go. However I'm glad to say that I finally got offered a position after 4 months of suffering. LOL I start next month March2nd...So excited and sooooo happy I finally get to apply what i've earned. One reason I got in is because of a family relative. My sister is an RN case manager at the hospital I will be working at and she was able to get me an interveiw, I tried my best and I was only up against 6 other new grads. Luckily I got the position. ANyways good luck to those looking for jobs out there...It's really a pain..I was almost getting hopeless and was thinking of relocating.

2 more days, your exam is almost here. I didn't do any studying what so ever those last two days before my exam. Although I did a bit of reading on some medications that I thot would be tested, luckily those were the ones that came up on my test. lol I guess I got lucky. But yeah just relax and do some good things for yourself. Any cramming at this point is useless so just relax. Goodluck

Yeah everyone studies at their own pace, just depends on what your comfortable with. I tried religiously doing at least 100 questions a day but by the month of my exam I just focused on understanding the rationales and would probably get 50-70 questions tackled in one day just like you. I think your on the right track, the number of questions you practice won't matter if you're not understanding what your practicing. Keep up the good work and continue to stay focused. Goodluck :)

I think you should try it despite you doing the 3rd edition from Saunders. The 4th edition which Suzanne requires has a quiz at the end of each chapter while the 3rd edition doesnt. I did her plan and passed. I did kaplan and all those other stuff and failed. I think you should really consider it. As for now if you just took your test, listen to what the others are saying and just relax for a bit, take a break then get back to studying after a week or so. Goodluck

Average score I'd make sure I'd get above 75, anything under that and I'd read the chapter and make sure I'd cover everything. I completed about half the CD under Study mode, 2700 questions and passed. Goodluck

Hey flightnurse..omg are u serious??? That's a hell of a long trip to take your test. Here in Nevada there's only one testing center but usually you have to schedule your test 1 month in advance since all the good spots get taken fast. Anyways about the rosary yeah I tried taking it in with me before and you just cant. I had to leave mine in my bag, but I took a break and took it out and started to pray when the computer just kept throwing questions at me and it finally stopped lol. The rosary is good to bring along but just by knowing that God is everywhere and having that spiritual mentality to imagine that he was right beside me during the whole thing helped me alot. I prayed right before I walked in, during my breaks and right after I walked out! Well anyways good luck. You can do this and try not to study 2 days before your test just relax...DON'T STUDY!!! Wow thanks Dee. I tried again today and luckily I found out my papers have gone through finally! It's finally official that I can work in Vegas also I found some available positions online that accept new grads so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have a family relative trying to help me out as well, she knows people and she's trying to help me out too. I have a ton of international grad friends but no friends who have graduated here in Nevada wish I did but oh well. I know I'll find a job soon, I just have to keep trying. Thanks for your guys input.

Thanks. Yeah I know I thot that everything would fall into place once I passed the Nclex and I'd be working in no time. My family's wondering why it's been close to 2 months by now and I still haven't been working in the hospital yet. Part of it has to do with the fact that I'm still waiting for my papers but for the most part I've been applying and I just don't seem to be finding a place that's New grad Friendly here in Vegas... All the places that I've been to always keeps telling me that they'll give me a call if they're intrested but nothing...anyways yeah guess I have no choice but to keep trying. If there's anyone reading this who knows of a New Grad Friendly hospital please do let me know. Any information will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hey guys, I passed my Nclex October but was registered with CA, so it's been taking me awhile to get my papers in order so that I can officially work in Vegas. Anyhow I've been applying for RN positions. Unfortunately they're always looking for RN's with 2 years experience and so on. How can I get experience if no one wants to give me a chance?? Anyone in the same position or know any place in Nevada that's hiring New Grads??? Thank you for your responses. Btw: I am an international graduate if that has anything to do with the reason why I'm not getting hired.

Hey folashade. Well if they gave you alot of meds it means that they found you weak in that area. This time you need to master those suckers. They gave me alot of Medications the first time I took the test too and I wasn't very good at them either so I made sure I killed it when I prepared for the test again. It may seem hard but you know once you set your mind on something that you really want to accomplish you can do it. I bought a ton of poster boards roughly around 35-40 in total and I handwrote all the medications that I thot were very important and that I needed to know, posted these up on my wall and practically my whole room wall was covered from all four sides. It helped me remember the drugs alot because I would see them everyday along with their side effects, precautions, when to take them and so on. As everyone on here has mentioned practice those questions. It helped me alot to feel prepared for my exam. It just feels like your at home practicing questions when your at the test center. Anyways goodluck on your test.

I'm very sorry to hear that you did not pass. Many others are in the same situation as you so don't lose hope. Take some time off for yourself and try to do other things in the mean time other than studying. Get back at it again after a week. It's better to start studying right away and not let too much time pass while what you've reveiwed is still there. Goodluck on your next attempt.

Hey mochafrap :) It's LVdreamer. Anyways based from your story I had the same thing happen to me..computer just kept giving me questions and I was freaking out but I found out that I passed. First time I took NCLEX it stopped at 75. Then the last time I took it, it stopped at 180 after 4 hours and I just didn't know what to think. Being that there wasn't any computations I'd say that's a prettty good sign. My format of questions were 0 computations, 3 SATA's, 7-10 drugs, and the majority i'd say about 60-70 % of my exam was teaching and client education, who would the Nurse see first, which of the ff s/s would lead the nurse to notify the Physician etc. Anyways it's really easier said than done but try to stay positive I know it's hard..but really there's nothing you can do at this point since the test is over. All I could think about for the past 3 days before my results were posted was if I had passed and that I should keep studying just in case, but I passed lol. Well Goodluck! You may not beleive it at first but you know Suzannes Plan really works. I picked up alot of books myself being that my sister and I both took up Nursing School and whatever she purchased to use in studying for her Boards was just handed down to me, but all of that stuff didn't work! I had Mosby's, Kaplan, Springhouse, Lipincott you name it..just a whole bunch of all different kinds of references that I didn't know where to start. When she passed with Kaplan alone I thot of doing the same thing and just sticking with Kaplan but it just didn't work out for me. My third attempt I tried Suzannes Plan and purchased Saunders and stuck to that alone and passed. Really it's frustrating I know, you think when is it gonna happen for me? And finally right before my eyes it did! It takes alot of work and really just perseverence, determination and a positive fresh new look at the exam if you want to pass. Think of it as your first time taking it. Don't look at the past attempts as something to bring you down but rather learn where you should study more on and pretty much tackle everything. Don't give yourself a reason to fail or any doubts when you go in there. Give yourself plenty of time in order to prepare, if it means giving up going out here and there and if you're really serious then there's no reason why you cannot pass. Trust things will work out and REALLY put in the WORK don't be cheating yourself. If you need any additional tips or advice i'm here. Feel free to send me a pm. Goodluck!

Really the number of questions that one has on their exam doesn't determine if they pass or fail. I had 180 and I passed! Keep staying positive and do something fun to relax while you wait for the results. Goodluck!

Congrats adiaz731!! I felt the same exact way when I came out of the testing center. Then I saw my name 3 days later and was just in shock....I jumped up and down yelled to my dad to come look at the computer and I cried when I called my Mom overseas. I just had to since it was her childhood dream to become a Nurse and I fulfilled that in someway. =) Anyways Congrats!!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! You should go out and celebrate!

Hey guys! Goodluck to all November Nclex test takers! My tips would be to reveiw Nursing Content only when you feel weak or uncomfortable in that area and above all do as many practice questions as you can! At least 2000 before you test. If you're not reading all that much continue to keep your brain active by practicing questions and reading the rationales!! Goodluck guys it's possible!

Thanks so much! And same to you!! Unfortunately as of now I'm still waiting for my papers and license to get transferred from CA to Nevada since I originally registered with California. Meaning I have yet to work at the hospital once everything is transferred.

yeah me too! I just received mine the day before yesterday, saw my name 3 days after I tested on the CA BON. Then when my letter came I was expecting something small and I saw that big beige envelope with my license number on the front and I said what?? I thot I was supposed to get something small? I checked what was inside and I saw my RN diploma along with a letter of congratulations on passing notifying me that my pocket license will be sent 7-10 days from now. Yay we did it :)

Hey balletdancer, If you haven't passed maybe you should reevaluate how you prepare. Change your strategy and study guide because obviously it's just not working out for you. I took the test and failed twice then I moved to Suzanne's Plan and passed on my third attempt. Take this chance to do something different and study like you've never taken the test before. 180 questions 4 hours.

hey momofthree, sorry for the late reply. i passed on my 3rd take. well, if you've done kaplan before i really don't think it's a good idea to go back to that again. kaplan just doesn't work from some people including myself! first two takes kaplan-failed. my sister second take kaplan-passed. all the meds are in saunder's beleive me, it covers a very broad spectrum! probably for the last 3 weeks before i tested all i did was master medications. i had wall to wall posterboards in my room of all medications that i wrote down. i saw them everyday so it made it easy for me to remember them. when you're studying your meds don't forget to include what signs and symptoms to look out for telling the nurse that she should notify the physician & when not to notify the physician for expected side effects, what foods should be avoided and what to monitor with a specific drug. example: cyclosporine- monitor liver fxn tests and avoid combining grapefruit juice since it can cause toxicity. look for a pattern in studying your medications. like you'll notice everything that has to do with uti meds or urinary analgesics. pretty much any urinary tract medication if given can cause a normal side effect of orange to brown colored urine which is expected. stuff like that.

Just those Two. Saunders 4Th Edition and Priority Delegation and Assignment by Linda Ann Lacharity. I really think that's all you need. Not to mention Saunder's has enough questions to offer as it is. 4212 questions and I didn't even get to finish them all before I tested. All the medications that were thrown at me on my test are in there too. Try to master your heart drugs like lol pine's, statins. I noticed that psychiatric drugs are a need to know as well. Study your MAO, SSRI's, Tricyclic antidepressants, lithium etc. What cannot be combined with drugs and when to notify the physician. I'm pretty sure something in there will come out.
