  1. Thanks!!! I am sure these will help to make me feel more confident in what I am studying.
  2. Thanks, you are probably correct, it won't stick b/c I am forcing it. I am going to have a nice lunch with my husband and kids, and then pick it up and try again.
  3. I don't mean to be so touchy, but I feel like this material is saying one thing in paragraph and the exact opposite in the next paragraph. I am also in such a pinch for time on this one I really don't know if it is possible to complete.
  4. not really sure how this is so funny.....i have been through a lot to get through this program just as everyone else has, and after passing the cpne, with flying colors, i get a notice that after final review of my transcript i am short 2.0 hours in sociology. so i have until march 15 to pass this exam if i want to graduate on time, maybe i am a little touch about the situation, but i was looking for some guidance.
  5. What books did you use to prepare for this exam?
  6. I have been reading since Thursday and am only on Chapter 5. I have to keep rereading the same paragraph over and over again. It seems a little contradictory to what the paragraph before it said. Am I just putting to much thought into it, is it that cut and dry, and I don't realize it?
  7. Thanks, I feel like I am never going to get through this!
  8. It is a time issue. My advisor told me that CLEP can take 4-6 weeks to get the transcript to EC, and I need everything finalized by March 15 to make graduation in April. And March 15 was an extension on the original cut off date.
  9. Has anyone taken this EC exam? If so, please give me some pointers this material is killing me. Thanks!
  10. Thanks, I just wanted to know what to expect this weekend! Thanks.
  11. A question off the subject, did they have a peds unit in Racine when you tested. I get mixed answers from others. Thanks!
  12. This sounds like the method Amy at the EC suggested to me, kind of make the guaze fold into your hand like candy ribbon does. She mentioned folding the end small so the fringed edge doesn't mess you up and then begin to pack. I guess I will find out Friday if it is acceptable. Wish me luck!
  13. No, you are correct it is for my fly. The only reason I have continued to put myself through the agony of nursing school is for my family, so it felt appropriate! Don't get me wrong, I love nursing, but it has been a VERY long road for me. To make a long story short, I had to withdraw the second half of my last semester of a traditional RN program, I went on bedrest for my first child. After he was born and I was ready to get back to it, and Hurricane Katrina tore my life apart and sent me miles away from my family and school. So EC was the only option for me. Now 3 years later I am one week from CPNE, so as I sit here telling my little girl (2nd child) I can't play dress-up with her I have to study I am ready to be free from this too. But I still feel like I would not be setting an example for her if I just gave up. Plus my husband would have a stroke if after paying student loans from the traditional program and putting me through EC. So it is all formyfly! And a little for me....I hope you reconsider throwing in the towel, but I am sure you no what is best for you and yours. Best wishes.
  14. Apples, I can understand how you are feeling. To be able to read a book for pleasure, and not to have your children looking at you with that please don't neglict me anymore face would be heaven. But maybe after a few weeks you will look at the situation and be more motivated than before to complete this program. I am not am LPN, but I see the ones I work with and they are awesome nurses and don't get the pay they deserve! Best wishes to you and I hope you do go back and become a GN!!!!
  15. Thanks you guys are the greatest. Well 7 days and counting them down!!!! Let me know if you think of anything else.
  16. Thanks so much, I am confident one minute and losing my mind and breaking out in hives the next minute! This clears up any misconceptions I had about documentation!
  17. So even if it doesn't apply to that pt you still chart that it doesn't apply. ie. palpating fontanels on an adult, should still be included as not applicable? Im sorry to bother you with all these silly questions, but I had an appointment with Dr.A yesterday evening and no one called me, so I don't know who else to ask. Thanks!
  18. Lunah, I am asking you b/c I trust your opinion....is there something "unique" about documentation at the CPNE regarding critical elements? Joanne had mentioned it on a post that people have a hard time with this. I am begging for some specific guidance here....only 8 days and counting til CPNE!!!!! Thanks
  19. I am so sorry to hear your sad news, but believe in yourself and get back to it!!!! I testing Feb 13 in Racine, wish me luck and send me some pointers!
  20. I was very luck to get a cancellation date of Feb 13-15 in Racine, WI. It will be a long trip, I live in Louisiana, but hopefully it will be the most memorable Valentine's Day ever!!!! All prayers are appreciated and any advice NEEDED!!!
  21. Stay focused, I have faith in you, forget about NC6 and knock NC5 out of the park. I will be trying to get some studying done while I'm away, I rescheduled my exam for September 11. Hopefully life will be halfway normal by then. Good luck. Oh, I give you permission to have 2 shots on Friday, one for you and one for me, but that is it. Saturday is back to the books!
  22. If the "LA" you referring to is Louisiana, YES, they do accept EC students to sit for NCLEX. I live in Louisiana and spoke to the BON when all of the news about GA came out to verify that I would still be eligible!
  23. I agree with you on skating through clinicals!!!!! I have seen it FIRST HAND....there were many, many students in my traditional RN program that I would not let take care of me, or my dog for that matter. I have passed 100% of my clinicals in that program and am very FEARFUL of what lies ahead for my CPNE, in the traditional program I did not have an instructor sitting over me each time I was in contact with my patients, as a matter of fact once you are checked-off on a skill you can perform it on your own. I have to say I have met one women who forgot to wash those hands first and had to repeat that experience.....in my old program, my instructor wouldn't have known if I would have even washed my hands at all that day. Please don't get me wrong, I am NOT trying to knock any nursing program, if all would have went as planned I would be a graduate from there... I am just trying to say, just b/c you got that clinical experience, in that traditional program, does not make you a better nurse than someone from EC!
