  1. Congratulations! Isn't it such a relief.
  2. Have you not gotten a phone call yet? I was #15 on the alternate list, and was called on Friday, ironically during my CCC orientation.
  3. Did the school know about your situation with your mother?
  4. Actually I would think that the hospital would have a lot more disgusting things on average, like people with infectious, oozing sores that smell rancid, and a greater potential for colostomies. The facility that I work at has people of every care level, and when people come in from the independent living into our SNF they came be in pretty bad shape compared to the people in our nursing home. Nobody in the nursing home has bed sores, and I've only had one person vomit on my shift. Have you thought about becoming a medical assistant? I think that might be a better fit.
  5. Yes, they tell everybody that they're an alternate. They said that in past years people have done some Tonya Harding type stuff. I was shocked by that statement. At my interview this year I asked how many alternates on average get in and they said maybe 5.
  6. I would say it depends on how far away you live. My letter was dated for the day before, and I live about 2 miles from the school. As I recall from last year all letters where sent out at the same time. I hope to see you in the fall.
  7. Thank you! I think I'm still in shock. Why would your friend rather go to CCC? Having a good friend to study and fight my way through school with might be more important to me. Besides we will all end up this the same degree from OHSU. :)
  8. For some reason I don't think it would be approriate for students to be looking at or touching each others whoo-has, even if it is for educational purposes. :)
  9. I got my acceptance letter today! This was my third year applying; the competition is very high here in Oregon.
  10. I just got my acceptance letter from CCC! I am beyond excited. This was my school of choice. I guess third times a charm.
  11. Good point.
  12. I'm on the alternate list for PCC. I'm number 15, so all hope isn't lost, but I'm still pretty sad.
  13. LOL! Why is it that the mailman is ALWAYS late this time of year?
  14. I'm very saddened by this. He wasn't just an awesome teacher, but an amazing person as well. Do you know how he died?
  15. What teacher died? I really hope it's not my favorite teacher.
  16. I got my denial letter from OHSU today. I don't feel too bad, because they have so many supreme applicants for 30 spots. I just hope I get in somewhere.
  17. I love my job as well, but I can't say I love all my co-workers.
  18. I am very experienced with the dealings of Clackamas (I've had interviews there the last two years), and yes they do this every year. I received my letter as well today. After the deadline they will send out interview invites.
  19. Does anybody know when we'll hear from PCC?
  20. So I just got an e-mail from Mt. Hood saying oh, the alternate number we gave you yesterday was for your skills check off, this is your real alternate number, and the number is twice the size. Somebody messed up royally. I'm very dissapointed.
  21. I found out that I'm on the waitlist for mt. hood. I feel pretty good about that since many alternates get in each year. I suppose that is probably because they have the winter cohort, and people excepted else where might rather start in the fall. I'm still waiting on my rejection letter from OHSU (I'm assuming that's what it is since they only have 32 spots and close to 400 applicants). I have pretty high hopes for PCC. They admit 100 and I felt pretty good about my essay, but that doesn't mean anything. And then there's CCC who hasn't even sent out there invites.
  22. The ratios you wrote for Oregon aren't correct. They are Days 1:7 Evening 1:11 Nights 1:19 I don't know about other facilities but the facility I work for has 1:7-8 on days, 1:7-8 on evenings, and 1:15 at night. The eighth person is always someone fairly independent, and they just lowered the ratio by one person, and there is always alot of nurses and med aides, so I don't think they're outside the law.
  23. If you do your CNA program at Clackamas, they will give you points for doing it with them, and they will give you points if you work at one of there clinical sites. They also will give you points if you work in direct patient care. That's 9 points right there.
