  1. Congratulations! I would go with a pretty scrub cap
  2. I also suggest you watch the evening news each evening. Not Fox or CNN, just the national news on CBS, NBC or ABC
  3. You weren't mistaken. It was getting better as people were getting vaccinated. Thanks to the awful polarization and misinformation (disinformation IMO) not enough people did to achieve herd immunity. Now there is a variant that is more transmissable. The explosion of cases is most apparent in red states. My blue county is very highly vaccinated and we have only seen a small uptick...like 12 people per day instead of zero. We averaged 300 per day at the beginning of the year. Again, the reason this is not going away is because of anti-vaxxers
  4. You seem to have joined for the express purpose of trolling psych nurses
  5. Especially because a psych discharge may not stay a psych discharge for very long
  6. I would love to know what hospitals in or around Philly accept ADNs for their graduate nurse program. This is Main Line Health for example: Nurse Residency Program FAQs: Main Line Health, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 2) What are the requirements to be eligible to apply? Graduation from an accredited BSN (Bachelors of Science in Nursing) program or currently enrolled in a BSN program and graduating within the next few months after applying Valid and active Nursing License for the State of Pennsylvania (all Nurse Residents are required to pass their boards prior to starting) Minimum 2.8 GPA (2.8? so I had a 3.7 or 3.8 in undergrad and ADN but not good enough...)
  7. Well this was back in 09 when no one was hiring new grads.our problem now is we are no longer new grads . Can you share what hospital system that is? Thanks! My cc has a great reputation for grad nurses passing the nclex
  8. You have to take the cost of living into account though. Look at house prices there and compare to your area for similar houses.
  9. I'm sorry I thought you WERE her arguing with me again and didn't read it closely. I appreciate your validation. I tried to delete my post but couldn't figure out how. I did change it though if you refresh
  10. Thank you . Yes it was a very quick change here. The hospital president at our pinning had the nerve to tell us to be "encouraged" because swine flu may "improve " the job market for nursings. Didn't mention they were also boing towards magnet status
  11. If I had to do it today I would go bs to bsn. That wasn't available when I started the process to changed careers around 2007. My program was ideal with evenings and weekends since I had a full time job I could not quit, although I never had a day off,
  12. I went ADN and got through the NCLEX in 70 questions so....
  13. When did I say I was in Chicago? I'm near Philly and you are full of it about research. What don't you get about the fact that they changed the rules in our last year? There are two hospital systems near me; main line health and Penn medicine. I am not lying here. Also did you see that my friend sat down with Main Line Health about not hiring adns and they wouldn't budge? Their positions at least in 2010 said bsn preferred . I have 20 years at another job with excellent references and magna cum laude in health administration from Penn State and a 3.8 from my adn. You're full of it And I don't have huge student loans but as a single mother with a mortgage I cannot afford more debt while my kid is also in college
  14. Umm yes it was a community college that is accepted into all Pennsylvania state schools. What does the stock market plunge of 08 have to do with researching markets? Did you not read where I said everyone in the class before us got jobs and mostly hospital jobs? The hospital that we did clinicals in and the other hospital )and many Philly main hospitals did not hire gn that year due to the crash. But then the hospital and the other one started hiring graduate nurses the next year but would not hire adn nurses even the hospital we did our clinicals at that was affiliated with the program. When we started our courses the hospital recruiter really sold gloats hard the fact that they wanted us to come work there. Then they refused to hire us. Eta: magnet status must have been years in the planning for this place. They knew at some point they would not hire the adns from their own program yet didn't mention this in information sessions. Plus magnet does not mean they can have no adns they have to have a percentage of bsn . They could have reached out the next year since most infuse still didn't have jobs and offer gn positions with the condition you get your bsn.
