my best suggestion would be to search the local hospitals, etc via internet. I live about 2 hours west of the dfw area in a town of about 89,000 and about 90% of the medical businesses require you to fill out the application online. Kudos to your fr...

First congrats! I would suggest working in a hospital. I just finished my first year as an LVN and the experience I have gained is unmeasurable. I'm from East Texas and the hospital i work at is very flexible toward LVN's moving toward their RN. I...

we have 3 hospitals in our area the one i'm at is going magnet so we aren't really hiring but the other 2 are also i know numerous ltc's in this are that do and a few clinics I don't think we can get super specific on here but i would suggest doing a...
I'm just wondering if there is anything backing my feelings u in this. Okay about a week ago I had a horrible ear infection. There was drainage, and my gland all around my ear were swollen. I was also vomiting. I am in the float pool and currently ...
yeah that would be kind of crappy thankfully at least in my town the 2 big hospitals are always competing so nurse pay is always going up. Lvns even without being a former employee still make at least $7 more than the CNAs. Although it is still kin...
So I'm 3 months on my way to 4 on my first job as an LVN Its a telemetry floor. To begin with I am married no kiddos. I asked when I was hired to work days but when I received my offer from the hospitals it was for nights. When i asked why i was t...
Update: So I was on my way out yesterday and my Manager pulled me into her office and informed me that she was moving the new LVN's to the float pool, because they were hiring new rn's I was in absolute disbelief. I truly believe this woman thinks ...
Theres one at TJC in east texas it a year long and they have an AM and PM class very hardcore m-f lots of studying, but about 2 months before the graduation the have a job fair and hook you up with some of the local medical facilities looking to hire
I'm a new LVN just started on telemetry about a 2-3 weeks ago. I feel totally and completely lost. I feel what I learned in school was only about a tenth of what I needed. I already goofed up and missed a dr.s order for integrilin (it was later g...
In the hospital i work at we do it all. The explanation when the question was asked in orientation was that while we do the assessment and careplans it is signed off by an RN usually the charge nurse
I have been feeling that way too. I'm only in my second week of orientation. But I have a great preceptor. I was sitting at the desk with one hand on my forehead and apparently a deer caught in the head lights with my nurse notes and info sheets s...
So I'm taking it today at 11 I was cool, calm, and collective. In my program we took these things called ERI and I passed every single one of them. I've been studying and I feel like I know it but now I'm spazzing out I got the upset stomach, eleva...
Wow if we stepped out to answer our cellphones we might as well just leave cause we would not have been aloud back in. I do think at some point we are glad for the good questions.

I can't believe this. I have been a CNA and no I don't think when I was that I had any business to being a nursing supervisor. The knowledge just isn't there. I mean when I was a cna I thought that I had a pretty good grasp on what nurses did but t...

I just graduated in texas and I was hired at the hospital at 14.95 + shift diff and benefits. The ltc's around here hire between 14-18. The state hospital hires at 18. I'm in a semi-small town with a lower cost living but now that I seeing other ...
Oh we had a couple of the "know it alls". The ones who would answer the questions before the teacher barely had a chance to answer. The worst part about it they were usually the students with grades lower than most. I hate to also say that we had ...
You Might be a Nursing student if ... 1. You are not allowed to talk about your day at school at the dinner table. 2. You have what you think is a nightmare, and realize "oh I'm just at clinical. " 3. You have replaced...
It's pretty hard but it is possible. I started out full time in the fall but now only work 16 hours a week. My job isn't that flexible. If the agency your with is flexible I don't see a problem in working at least part time

I really urge you to see if the college you go to has a student affairs center or something like that. They can hook you up with testing and other things that will work for you. We had a German student in my Lvn class and she failed because of the l...
i suggest getting one of the nursing diagnosis and care plan books. It helps you get started. It has helped me get the point of it all. I am able to do them without any headaches now. The books are expensive but its worth it.
