Hi, I stumbled upon this thread and you guys are asking exactly what I want to know. I'm looking to relocate around July 2012. By then I would have 2 years experience on an intensive medical care floor. I was wondering how things were turning out for you guys and what salaries you were being offered. Thanks for your help.

Have you guys looked into Davita Dialysis? I know a girl who got hired with them right out of school. Granted, this was in FL but when I was job searching I saw plenty of postings taking new grads in TX. Good luck!

Well, thank you all for the good luck wishes. The interview went pretty good I think. The nurse recruiter and nurse manager were really awesome. Karaokefrog, it was on 2F that I interviewed.

I'm not sure what floor it's going to be on. I spoke with the nurse recruiter and I have to meet with her at 10am then the nurse manager at 11. Was she nice? I'm normally fairly confident but for some reason I'm so nervous about this. That would be awesome if we were in the program together. I don't know anyone in DC.

I am a new grad and I have my license in FL. I would have to apply for endorsement in DC.

I'm so excited and nervous! I have an interview Friday at 11am on the stroke unit! Does anyone have an idea what kinds of questions are usually asked? I'm really hoping for this job. :redbeathe

I just want to say thank you for this post. I'm still in my ADN program and graduate this May but I've decided to get my BSN through Chamberlain starting Oct and was curious about how it really works out. No not really. A lot of it is quite expensive considering what you make. No reliable public transport so you most definately have to have a working car.

I just wanted to echo the original poster's comments and thoughts. I'll be a single parent and new grad in May and looking to relocate. My son will be 7 at the time and I'm always concerned about that to do for him but you guys have offered up some GREAT suggestions. Thank you so much for helping me put my mind at ease somewhat. :redpinkhe

I'm in the same boat. If you have a definate interview and get offered a job, take it. The south will always be there. Get you're expirience in familiar surroundings then move on when you're ready. If it's meant to be, then somthing will open up for you down here when the time is right.

Start researching the hospitals you want to work at now. Most of them let you know the absolute latest they would want a resume for their new grad programs. Most say the latest is 3 months prior to graduation but honestly like the others have said, you should do this now.

Up your fiber intake. You won't believe how much that has helped.

A friend of mine says the are really look in Pensacola. Not sure of the hospital name though

1. Reading the book BEFORE class really does help tie it all together when the professor is lecturing. This being said, there is a lot of reading and life does get in the way. If you can't get to every single word on every single page, learn to skim effectively. I find that the first sentence, the middle 2 and the last sentence of each paragraph is usually what I really need. If it's a topic that I'm weak on or not grasping well, I'll make sure to read the entire section. Also, read the summaries in the back of the chapter 2. Do the questions/videos/workbooks that come with your text. It helps a lot. 3. It's been said before but yes, rewrite your notes. Or at least flesh out the ones you already have. It helps to commit things to memory and to understand the material 4. Find and awesome study group - two heads are better than one and so on 5. Reward yourself for little accomplishments or take breaks during your study sessions. It's a lot of stuff to go through even if you pace yourself. You learn better if a 5-10min break every hour or so.

- You were once upset with a grade of 78, now that's what you're hoping for - You check, recheck, and call other classmates to confirm that you did not miss a due date for an assignment - The sight or smell of poop doesn't make you flinch that much any more - Really gross/morbid stuff gets you slightly excited

I will be graduating May 2010 with my ADN and like so many others, I will be starting the application process for new grad positions the first of the year. I already have one ex-professor (she was not let go, she moved for family reasons) willing to write me a letter of reference but I would like to have a least one or two more. For some reason, when it comes to this sort of thing I'm shy. What is/would be the best way to go about this? What has worked for you? I'm almost done with this semester (12/14 is our final) and I was contemplating asking my current professor for a letter. I have an 'A' average in the class so far (Peds) and I've turned in all assignments on time or early. For some reason, the thought of asking her just leaves me tounge tied. Any suggestions how to start off? Thanks so much for the help.
