i'm at a loss, 300+ applications without an interview?
Britt, I'm not really qualified to answer, since I'm unemployed, but all I did was show up in scrubs and clinic jacket and say, "Hi, I'm the new RN, I'm here to work." I did this a few times as Joke and it went over well. I also just went in and told truth, Hi, I'm ____, I'm new grad licensed as RN and I'd like to work here, who should I talk to?" Everyone was receptive and easy going that I spoke with. I just smiled and was honest, open, friendly.

i'm at a loss, 300+ applications without an interview?
I think I should be at 15 posts with this ? I hope so... anyway, UPDATE --> I got a Phone interview next week for awesome local hospital that'd I do just about anything to work for. And I got 2 home health agencies that told me to "come by." I'm not sure how home health would work as a new grad, it's not my first choice, but I'd be willing to do it... I'm just concerned about their training. Thanks again

i previously thought this was taboo... i thought you'd be better off applying for posted jobs. but TODAY i went out and pounded the payment and started visiting places with resumes in hand. it went very well, people where more open and receptive than i expected. i should have done this sooner

i'm at a loss, 300+ applications without an interview?
Ohhh... this is classic, GOT this in my email box this morning.... "Although your qualifications are impressive, to qualify for a Nurse Extern, you must be actively enrolled as a nursing student. This is not a new nurse graduate position, but rather a student position. Please visit our website for Nurse INTERNSHIP positions." HAHAHA... The JOKE is on ME because there is NO internship positions. I looked again today and I looked BEFORE applying to the extern job. What a joke. So... I'm overqualified for Tech, I'm unqualified for RN job (no experience) I'm ineligible for Extern (not enrolled in school, sorry I graduated) This leaves GN jobs and Internships... like looking for a needle in a haystack... then if I find the almighty needle, I gotta fight off 100's of other needle seekers to try and keep it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad to know its not just me. Some good ideas above, I'm going to start showing up in person. I thought that was taboo, but what do I have to lose at this point? I've applied to areas as far north as Denton, even Decatur, East Dallas, West Fort Worth, and everything in between... some of these would have been 2 hour commute each way. I haven't considered Oklahoma though. I can't relocate my residence because I have joint custody with my son, and if I move, I'll be legally jeopardizing losing my son - I'll work at burger king before I lose my son.
