hi i just accepted a job offer for relief nurse and i got the email for a physical exam, does anybody know how long the hiring process takes? like when can i expect to start working or orientation? thanks

study a week or two earlier thats what i do i tend to procrastinate a lot so i give myself a lot of time

yup pretty normal atleast in my experience. i hated instructors that are like that. used to give me panic attacks too but then i started to ignore them and just not care about the program anymore lol it helped me survive nursing school.

if u want to apply for new grad programs then yes. some programs require atleast 3.0 GPAs. but in my opinion just survive nursing school and work on ur networking skills while in the program. talk to nursing managers during clinicals, volunteer and make connections. because when u graduate ur connections will help u find a job and not ur GPA.

i depends if it works for u then keep doing it if not try something else. but like what ppl r saying here most of us study in 1 hr blocks. i myself like to study and read for 30 mins and take 45 mins-1hr breaks lol nursing itself is supposed to be easy and straightforward in my opinion but for some reason instructors always want to complicate things and stress u out.

they let LVNs do IVs? anyways i will try to help u out. its order/hand so that would be order= 50mg and what u hav in hand is = 50mg/1ml (vial). so its 50mg/50mg per 1 ml. so both 50mg cancel out u get 1 ml. so u would draw 1 ml. in that 1 ml there is DimenhyDRINATE 50mg mixed in with it which is what the doctor wanted. the minimal amount time u can find that in ur drug book i think. now u put this 1 ml in ur secondary line (piggy back). now for the rate it depends on what the drug book tells u. lets says the drug book said 30 mins. so its 1 ml in 30 mins. the rate is usually set per hour. so to figure out the rate u can simply multiply it by 2 because 30 mins x 2 = 1 hr so 2 x (1ml in 30 mins) would be 2ml in 1 hr. so that would be ur rate 2ml/hour. VTBI (volume to be infused) would be 1ml. duration would be 30 mins i think

study harder or pick a different major. the pre reqs are tough for a reason, to prepare u for the nursing program. if u think pre reqs r tough, wait till u get in the program its like 10x harder. hate to break it u bud but it is what it is. i had a hard time with the pre reqs too when i first started but i just sucked it up and like i said just studied harder. i memorized everything from the book and class notes, i forced myself to study harder, i had to, i didnt think it was possible but u just have to believe u can do it. if u have trouble understanding concepts from class just post it hear and ill try to help out

oh i definitely dont view it as a step down. right now i just want to work and gain experience whether its an RN or LVN job its still experience that will help me in the future. working in a family medicine clinic as an RN is kinda like my dream job. but i plan on getting a few years of med surg experience under my belt first. i was hoping that if i get hired as an lvn and work hard they might offer me an RN position in the future. anyways, thanks for ur advice!!!

i havent figured out how to answer that question thats why i was hoping someone could help me out and give me some advice. im in LA right now and it's really tough for new grads to find a job out here. i graduated last june and it is really frustrating that i still cant find a job, im desperate and im willing to work as an lvn right now rather than do nothing. and besides new grad rns make about 30/hr and this job will pay me 25/hr (if i get hired) so its not so bad.

hello! i have a job interview in two days for an LVN position in a family medicine clinic. i was just wondering what kind of questions they might ask me? any advice? since they know that im an RN do u guys think they will ask me if i will be actively seeking for an RN job? if so, any advice on how to answer that kind of question?

hey guys! im taking my nclex-pn test next week and i dont know if im ready or not. ive been answering thousand of practice question for about 2 weeks and ive been scoring between 50-65%. i also did the kaplan-pn review, most of the time i get 50-60% on q-bank questions, i did the kaplan strategy book practice test and i scored 61%, in saunders i usually get 60% on the exams, my ATI predictor test says that i have a 98% chance of passing the first test. ive been reviewing a lot of meds lately (MI meds, antihypertensive meds, emergency meds, street drugs). right now im just doing practice questions and i dont know what else to review. ive tried to study everything i learned from nursing school but there's just too much information. i dont wanna reschedule my exam i want to take it on tuesday, but im scared that i might fail. what should i do??? :crying2::crying2::crying2::confused::confused::confused::uhoh3::uhoh3:

sup guys!!! i've been reading a lot of posts about the "ATT" and im really confused now. my school sucks and didnt really help us students on how to register for nclex. well i graduated last april 2010 i completed all the requirements and my school sent my papers to the BON through mail on may 12. and now its june 14th and still i havent received anything from the BON. so i called them up this morning and they said that they received my papers but it hasnt been evaluated yet, they said its gonna take another 2-3 weeks to get evaluated. now my question is can i register at pearson vue without receiving anything from the BON yet? will i get my ATT if i register? or do i still have to wait for the BON's approval? ive been studying for months now, i really need to take and pass nclex ASAP because the application for the lvn-rn bridge program at LBCC ends on july 30th. and i need my lvn license to apply......plz plz reply.....thanks guys!!!

so if youve taken all the pre-reqs from another school does that mean that you can finish the program in less than 2 years??

hey caffeine congratulations!!! i just wanna ask you sumtin....when u applied for the lvn-rn program were the pre-reqs the same as the rn program?? cuz im done with all the pre-reqs but i had to repeat a couple of science classes....so i just wanna know if i can still apply?? thanks.... oh btw im an LVN student....

hi!!! im currently an LVN student in LA, im done with all my pre-reqs and GE classes, took them at la harbor college. my problem is that i took anatomy and microbiology twice at harbor college, first time i took these classes i got a D on both of them, and got a B on both classes the second time. now i know most schools only accept one repetition for all three science classes. is there any way that i could bypass this rule? do u guys know a school that accepts students that have more than one repetition? does this mean that i can never apply for the lvn-rn program at harbor or any other schools? am i screwed for life?

ok guys plz help me out....if you have a chronic kidney failure, does that mean you have hyponatremia or hypernatremia??? i understand that when you have renal failure you retain sodium and excess water, so that means you have hypernatremia right?? but you also retain water and if you have too much water doesnt it dilutes the sodium?? im really confused, one book says its hypernatremia and the other book says its hyponatremia...so which one is it??
