  1. Sounds like Js408 is just making some ridiculous and uneducated speculation. WGU is NOT a diploma mill, is NON-PROFIT, and is not accredited at the moment but WILL BE. Think about it. Why would a prestigious hospital like Cedars Sinai want to risk their own reputation by participating in a diploma mill??? You've got the Nursing director at Cedars encouraging staff members of her own hospital to enroll in this program. Before you go out and start making stupid assumptions like that, go do your homework first!
  2. I received a flyer from a close friend of mine regarding Western Governor's University. I've never heard of this program before but am interested in their BSN program. But how legitimate is this program? Anyone ever heard of it or attended any of the nursing programs there? I consider myself an excellent self directed learner and since a majority of this program is online (other than the clinicals) I feel this program would be ideal for me. THanks!
  3. Thank you jm, that actually helps a lot. So I guess the idea is to interview around double the amount theyre accepting. That probably means if they do send out another batch of invitations, I highly doubt it will be another 72 people. It should be a lot less than that, if they do send out another batch at all. They're probably just trying to be on the safe side just in case more people have to give up their seat than expected. At least now I have a better idea of where I stand, although not really a favorable one LOL. It's lookin like Western's my only hope now
  4. LOL, I dont mean to discourage you, I'm just being straightforward. Have you visited the campus before? If you're not used to going to a big school in a metropolitan area then it might be something new to you. I went to CSUF in Fullerton. Even though CSUF was a fairly big school, the campus and parking was not nearly as complicated, and Fullerton is still a fairly suburban neighborhood. But ya know, that's just me. But hey, if you're up for UCLA life, more power to you! I'm just talking about the experiences I've heard. I'm sure there are also a lot of positives of UCLA life.
  5. You know what, you're actually right. Even if I did get in, I still wouldnt have completely ruled out the possiblity of attending other schools I applied to. UCLA is in a very metropolitan area. All the schools I've attended are in semi-suburban areas, so simply going to school was never a "journey". I wasnt looking forward to the heavy traffic commute to LA. UCLA is such a big complicated campus and parking is extremely difficult. Even the idea of living near the campus didnt appeal to me because everyone I know who lived near or somewhat close to UCLA absolutely hated it. So I guess I'm not all TOO disappointed.
  6. MECN2009, if you are around, I seriously hate to put you on the spot again, but you are the only one so far who has been accepted into this superhuman program. If you don't mind, could you please share with us your amazing stats? There has to be something about you that made you stand out among this excellent pool of applicants on this forum and I'm sure we're all dying to know what your stats are
  7. It would be great if they invited a second batch of people for an interview. But I'm not sure if I'm totally ecstatic about that because even if the rest of us do get an invitation (and hopefully the rest of us do), does that just put us at the bottom of the barrel for being "second choice" and at a disadvantage compared to the others who have already been interviewed? I want to believe that they are just simply backed up, but them just MIGHT wanting to send out another batch of invitations doesnt make them sound like theyre just simply "backed up". It sounds like they might just not be satisfied with settling with their current pool of interviewees, or maybe some of their interviewees simply didnt show up. And why would they want to interview even more people if they are only accepting 35 students this time around? How many students did they interview already anyway? I know I'm over analyzing, but I'm just trying to make something out of my situation so I know whether or not to just prepare for the worst :uhoh21:
  8. I recall them asking that in the essay prompt too if applicable. Since it wasn't applicable to me, I didn't address it.
  9. It says they wanted to increase a pool of socio and economically disadvantaged students into their programs. MECN2009, you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but did you happen to experience any socio or economic disadvantages growing up?
  10. Wow, with those stats I wouldnt have seen it coming either. I'm very sorry to hear that, but I'm sure you'll be accepted somewhere (if you havent already). I'm sure many of us a very much qualified if not overqualified for this program. For those of us who didnt make it in this year, think of it as UCLA's loss and not ours.
  11. To those of you who were not invited for an interview, did you a receive a rejection letter to the program?
  12. I actually posted earlier that I received my rejection letter from UCLA today. For reference, I'm about 30 miles away from the campus.
  13. Hi empresz, you're not the only one who's regretting not applying to more programs. I only applied to 3 schools. I was confident I was going to get into UCLA since applicants from last year with the same GPA as me were even getting scholarships. Now I only have hope for 2 more (Western and CSUF). And CSUF's not looking so hot to me right now either since they already started interviewing and I didnt even get invited to an interview so far at this point. Word to the wise, don't let cockiness get in the way of applying to more programs. With these days you can never be too sure. To everyone else stil waiting, hang in there!! No news is still good news!
  14. Hi everyone. I've been following this thread for a long time now and have just decided to join and post today to let you all know I have also been rejected by UCLA. Today I walked over to my mailbox doing the sign of the cross before I opened it, only to be devastated by the sight of a small white envelope from the UCLA SON. Sadly I knew what it meant. Forcefully opening it hoping for news of even a place on the waiting list, sadly there was no news of that either. For those of you who are still waiting, I really wish you all the best of luck and to not give up hope. Best of luck for all those who already got in. And for those of us who have already been rejected, God has a place for all of us somewhere and I guess UCLA just isnt it. But eventually, good news will come by. Just hang in there :wink2:
