  1. Thank you, this definitely helps!
  2. Hands on role...thank you!
  3. It will be a hands on role. Thank you!
  4. Just wondering if anyone is an OHN at a hospital. Have an interview and need help preparing. Any advice?
  5. Congrats!!! Did you take the Kaplan course by chance?
  6. I would call the nursing dept and ask Teri. Im sure she could give you an answer.
  7. From my understanding, it will follow the same format and timing as last year.
  8. I bought 2 sets of uniforms, 1 lab coat, 3 patches. It was about $230. At orientation, some grad students donated theirs. During a break, you could make a donation and get a set of scrubs. People got in line fast and they went quick. Its very expensive in the beginning.
  9. I havent used the mosbys dictionary between the internet & pda, dont need. The journey..., scopes & stand, Apa. Dont know if they were required or recommended. Maybe use once further along
  10. Some of the books I bought we haven't used yet, so you might not have to run out & buy them all. I spent at least $700 before the 1500's and bought used when I could. Plus, I got them from the bookmark which is cheaper than MCC. I also heard some will change next Aug. Some are a must, but others you might not need at least in the beginning.
  11. Right, some people I know last year retook the test even though they had a decent score (over 90%). The problem was GPA, so they took bs classes to bring it up. That's why the change to admissions will be a good thing.
  12. I hope I dont come off the wrong way, but if nursing is what you really want to do then do it. You should look at the criteria of the nsg program you want and do whatever it takes. I applied at MCC one time. My goal was a 4.0 in the prereqs and score at least 92% on the Hesi. I sacrificed many things b/c I needed to study, etc. to achieve my goal. IMO, it's competitive but NOT impossible. Many of my fellow rn students did the same thing and some may have taken a longer, but they made it. So, while many blame admission tests, schools, instructors, advisors, etc. take responsibility for your actions. Are you doing everything necessary to make it into the program and be a notch better then the competition? I am not pointing a finger at anyone, but it seems many do not want to put in everything it takes to get there.
  13. I pray she continues to feel safe, secure, and happy. God bless you & your kids for giving her a chance to live in a home where she can be loved and not abused and afraid.
  14. No, but someone on another post here sd that was their score. But yeah, this is a great way to speculate if you got in. If you look back at the bottom five scores over the past 4 years or so (2 yrs ago scores were not avg), they are pretty consistent.
  15. You are right. So, if that's the case, last year a person with a 4.0 & 87 hesi would be in. (93.50 overall).
  16. FYI, even though 1000 register for the Hesi, admissions is based on the people that follow through and register and qualify. I think it usually ends up being around 800 give or take.
  17. You should get in no problem.
  18. Depends on how low your GPA is. Last year scores where not exceptionally high.
  19. Someone I know started in Aug of 07 and will graduate May 09. Which ever time you start, classes continue except through summer.
  20. Actually, in MCC's program most are 8 week classes (some might be 4). I love it. You need to learn a lot in a short amount of time but it goes by super fast.
  21. Mcc

You never know what the competition is like. More spots are available, and some do dont accept their spot because they have applied to other schools. I think it was 3 years ago & a 4.0 and 90% got in. 2 years ago, the tests scores were extremely high, and last yr, they averaged somewhat back down. From now until the letters go out there is so much talk, he sd, she sd, it will drive you nuts. It's competitive, but not impossible. Good luck
  22. I'll tell ya, I will never understand how a mother could allow that to happen to her child. I agree, I'd probably kill him first. I know God will judge us all and it's not for me or anyone else to do especially never walked in their shoes. But, I think she deserves to be charged and locked away as well. When I hear stories like this, it really makes me wish there would be some sort of license you had to get before you could get pregnant or donate sperm. All the ineligibles would have to get fixed. God bless that little girl!
  23. Is the lab stuff we need the lab 360? I didnt see it listed on the plus just the regular constellation. I dont know what to do!
  24. No, it says over 120 hours of CNA training, career readiness, & job placement svcs included.
  25. I checked into Baker before MCC but decided against it. First, I talked to many RN's that told me they do not feel Baker students are prepared clinically after graduation and tend to hire last. Plus, not being accredited was a factor to me b/c I would like to pursue my BSN. I was told just b/c some credits may transfer now, doesnt mean they always will.
