New Grad in ICU struggling
Our ED's orientation for new graduates is 6 months, and 3 months for experienced RN's. So yes I agree. I dont think 8 shifts is a sufficient orientation.

So ready to throw in the towel and it makes me sad...
Sounds like a terrible work environment. I work in an ER and the people i work with are all about pitching in and team work. Perhaps if you love the ER maybe a different town or hospital? I dont think you should throw in the towel. Sounds like you are a great nurse in the wrong place.....

What do you absolutely LOVE and absolutely HATE about your job as a nurse
I work in an ER. I Love saving lives, and knowing that I am making "a difference" in my patients & families lives. I hate seeing patients code or die, or when family members become emotional when there loved ones are sick or hurting (that makes me emotional and all choked up). But the thing i hate the most is having to do "nursing tasks" on children, like shots, stitches, caths etc....

0130- 9 year old with a sore throat that started 1 hour ago child with fever for 6 hours- did you give tylenol? No 2- 9 year olds with earring back stuck to back of ear family of 4 at 2300 with one with sore throat, one with cough, one with sore eye, one with runny nose sooo many more when I think, "Are you freaking serious?"

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
Update: YES THE TRICK DOES WORK!!!!! I just found out I passed, my results were not even available through Pearson, I saw my updated RN license on my state boards web site. Good luck to all !!! and God Bless! The trick kept me sane through the weekend!!!! It really really works!!!!! I honestly thought there was no way I passed. I felt like the majority of people walking out of the testing center. I had a ton of SATA, and priority questions 141 total questions. I used Kaplan exclusivly and my scores for the 7 Q trainer tests were 60,57,57, 53,59,64,64- overall score for all questions in the Q bank was 60%. Hope this gives someone some confidence in their own scores! If I can do it, YOU can do it!
