  1. Good Morning, I am moving to the Atlanta area this summer. I have been trying to find out the steps needed to start practicing in GA now that it is apart of the compact states. If I already have a multistate license, shouldn't I be able to start applying for jobs and then transfer my primary state when I move there? I have not had much luck when speaking to the BON in Georgia. They really couldn't give me an answer. Has anyone here done this yet, since the change? Thank you!
  2. I work there. I love it! The pay is good in my opinion. But everybody is different.
  3. I literally laughed out loud when I read the part about you having to take her through starting your IV. And then having her cry like that?! Poor thing (you and her)
  4. I'd go with B or C. if you want to have a baby you should. Its alot of work being in school and having small babies but it is doable. If you don't like feeling broke (who does lol) you will may have to work too because kids are EXPENSIVE!! My oldest was 1 when I started back to finish my BSN. I also worked weekend nights so I was there during the days. Good luck!
  5. I worked nights for a while. I miss never seeing the bosses :) But now I hate getting report from certain nurses because i know that it will be a mess to clean up. Its not that great getting yelled at by the doctors because the nurse discontinued a cardizem with no order and said she talked to the doctor. (who of course denies speaking with her)
  6. I started working nights but had to switch to days for my family. I understand day and night shift. I miss my coworkers from nights. But right now days is what's best for my family. I always try to stay around alittle bit to catch up with some of the night shift crew. And i make sure to explain to my day and night coworkers that each shift is different. There are certain things you don't see as much at nights so I try to help the best I can
  7. I'm so glad I'm not the only one working at a place with a bunch of crazies. I can't believe how strange and ridiculous some patients/ and or families can be.
  8. I've worked with you melosaurRN. Your a good nurse. I can see that and I don't even work on your shift. We do the best we can do and that's all we can do. Trust me there will always be something that we "did wrong". Don't worry it will blow over. And if she asks you just explain your side.
  9. I'm a new grad, working the night shift and 23 weeks pregnant. I understand how your feeling. I'm exhausted all of the time. My husband gets frustrated because all I want to do is sleep. But I'm hoping it will get better too. I'm so sorry that you are feeling so bad. Know your not by yourself! It will get better :)
  10. I was pregnant with my first child during LPN school. I actually had her 3 days after graduation. Now I am pregnant with my second 3 months after starting at my first RN position. Its stressful in both situations. But having your first at the end of nursing school was actually easier because if you can work it so you have him/her after graduation you have that time off before you take boards and start working. When you are working you still have the nausea/tiredness etc and you still have to be able to take care of your patients. Not to mention some places of employment don't qualify you for FMLA until you have worked there at least one year. Just a thought. Good luck in school!
  11. I took the test yesterday and I really think I did terrible. (like everyone who takes the test lol) I did the trick this morning (because the site was down which made it so much worse!) And I got a good pop up. Now I'm just waiting to see my real results tomorrow morning. I am praying I passed!!!!! Congrats to everyone who found out their results already!
  12. Have you thought about taking a kaplan course? I am taking one now and I know there are people in the class who have failed NCLEX before. Its expensive but it is a good program.
  13. most of the hospitals in the area are owned at least in part by scott and white. S and W is the teaching hospital and trauma 1 hospital in the area. Metroplex I hear needs nurses. Both hopsitals have internship programs although it maybe to late to apply for this coming summer. (I'm not sure if you were interested in that)
  14. I'm so sorry you had such a rough day. Don't give up on something that you love because of your coworkers. Why not look at working somewhere else? A new area may be helpful. It seems like you are excellent at what you do especially as a new grad! I know I was no where near that organized by that time. Best of luck to you. :)
  15. I agree with previous posts. Its one of the best careers to have as a military wife. It will really come in handy that you already have a year of experience.
  16. my advice don't bother paying for an expensive watch. Get a $6 or 7 at walmart that you can wipe off. Its bound to get some of anything on it! That way you won't be to upset if something happens to it. Good luck with school!
  17. I graduate from Clarkson in May. I also received my LPN from there. I can say the programs are challenging but you are well prepared to practice as an RN when you graduate. You will make friends with your classmates as you have MANY projects during your time. Also, they have activities on campus if you are interested. Good Luck!
  18. We use ATI at my school as well. Usually if you are above the national average you are ok. But each school is different in what exact number they want you to receive. Hope that helps.
  19. Hey Everyone, I just found this today so this will really help me. I have just made the decision to try and do the LPN to BSN program with ISU. I graduated with my LPN August 07. For those of you who have already been accepted into ISU is it difficult to get in? Or are you automatically accepted on a conditional basis until you finish the LPN to RN transition course? I have finished the majority of my prereqs already. Some of my grades were...border line. So I am worried that I will pay all this money to TCN and not get accepted into ISU. Also, can you take some of the prereqs and the nursing courses at the same time? This may have been on the wedsite somewhere and I missed it? Thanks.
