  1. So true....I am trying to transition to the OR but I keep being told you must have experience. ...even though I took a peri op course.....I feel how I did when I first started looking for a RN job 4 years ago....
  2. Hi I'm taking the class currently too. We have a sims lab in class only. The perioperative instructors discourage evening and/or weekend clinicals. They feel you will have a better clinical experience if it was done during the weekday hours.
  3. Hi, I am currently in a preoperative course at Delaware County Community College. It is taught by ---------------. Excellent program .....most students completing the program are hired by the hospital where they compleyed their clinical. It's located in PA right outside of Philadelphia. Its worth looking into. I have a classmate who came from AZ just to complete this program. Good Luck in your decision:)
  4. Hi what program are you looking at that's online, affordable and no clinical? I'm searching too.
  5. Hi I am so glad I found this post. I am planning on taking the review course offered at my hospital. Thanks for the advice on the study guides:)
  6. Thanks for posting this..... I am struggling to decide where I should attend for my BSN.... It has to be fast and economical .... Oh and online...... Any thoughts?
  7. Hi, What program awards a BSN while pursing the MSN degree? Thanks
  8. Hi, I graduated from CCP in 2009. You will all be just fine. Yes at times it can seem a little unorganized but it will be ok. I can say that it was one of the best experiences I ever had!!! GOOD LUCK:-)
  9. Have you taken the CRNI?
  10. Hello, I am working for a trauma 1 teaching hospital in Philly. It took me two years to finally get hired. I like my job but know that I want to move to the OR. So I am planning on taking a perioperative course in the spring with hopes that it once I'm finished I can move into the OR by this time next year. Reading this post has helped me realize that I can eventually get to the OR.... Thanks!!!
  11. I am just getting my foot in the door with a home infusion therapy company(Phila area). I'm very excited on where this may lead too in my nursing career.
  12. Hello, I am interested in infusion nursing...I wanted to find out if you all are still liking this speciality? Thanks!
  13. Well actually a former classmate turned in my resume. I received a call about a week later. I would send in your resume and then call and ask to speak with Patti in HR to follow up. Good luck and keep me posted:)
  14. Does anyone know the starting rate for a nurse with one year experience at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia?
  15. Good Morning! I actually got a call the day of the interview that they had to cancel bc the person I was interviewing with left early due to illness. I never called back to re-schedule. I "heard" that they start out at 25.00 an hour. Which for me is a big pay cut that I can't afford. Also I had to think about the commute. Right now I drive about 20 minutes to work verses driving there in 45 to 50 minutes. Plus I like psych but I'm just not sure if I want to do that right now in my career. Excuse the rambling and I hope that helps. GOOD LUCK IF YOU PLAN TO INTERVIEW! let me know how you make out.
  16. Hello, Does anyone work for Horsham Clinic in Ambler, PA? I was just curious how are they as an employer. They are part of Universal Health Services. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
  17. Hello, That is great about having a tech job after your first semester. I still have my books but remember the editions change every few years. I joined Barnes and Nobles membership for $25.00( a year) and ordered all of my books online. You can order them and have the books shipped to the store to pick them up. It comes out a little cheaper. Also apply for scholarships too. They should be giving out the info on that for second semester that was helpful too. I am working on a sub-acute floor. I plan to go back for my BSN in January.
  18. Hello there, Sorry for the late response. I am a 2009 CCP grad. I really liked the program a lot. My advice to you right now is to stay up on your readings and if you dont understand something ASK QUESTIONS! Also if you have a chance to do an externship GRAB IT!!!! You will learn alot. Feel free to ask questions anytime. GOOD LUCK!!!
  19. :) Just want to say CONGRATS!!!! I graduated from their program May 2009. You can relax right now you have been accepted. I think the next thing to look forward to is orientation. I think that takes place in April or May. It is a good program and you will learn alot. CONGRATS again and GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!! p.s. feeling free to ask questions :-)
  20. Hi Can'twaittobeanurse, Congrats on getting a job at Hahn. I just want to say again I was only giving information that was given to me by a current St. Joe's student. Congrats again:-)
  21. I hope everyone understands that I am in no way bad mouthing the program. I was only giving information based on what I heard about the program. I wish luck to anyone who plans to attend there.
  22. Hi, I am entering my second year of nursing at CCP this fall. As far as I know microbiology is a co-req class for the fall semester. In the Spring semester I think it is electives....hope that helps:-)
  23. I think that they graduated the entire 60 people.....however....only the 1 passed the boards on the first try.....out of the 4 ......
  24. Hello I can understand that you feel nervous. I have not heard anything good about that program. I was told by a current student attending the program that it is very disorganized. Some of the students are afraid that they are not learning enough to be safe in a hospital setting let alone to pass the boards. Lastly, the St. Joe's student was told that out of 60 students, only 4 people took the boards and only 1 passed.
