  1. I am a new RN starting Orientation on Monday!!! I have always tried to learn from all my preceptors during clinicals the best way to stay organized and on task during the course of the day. I have been looking for the best way to take morning report, whether it be a standardized form that has all of the important information categorized (vitals, labs, tests, etc.) and ready to be filled in or just a blank sheet of paper divided into the number of patients you might have. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to start out somewhat organized with a system that actually works! thanks......Pat
  2. Thanks so much for the heads up! I am so ready for the test to be over. I don't take it until 3:45 in the afternoon tomorrow!
  3. i take my test tomorrow and feel like throwing up! Were the questions like what you thought they would be? Like Kaplan? Like Saunders? At this point i just want it to be OVER! zander (congratulations of getting through it!)
  4. Thanks for the info. I take the NCLEX on the 28th and leave for vacation for 10 days on the 29 of June. I won't be home to get the mail!!! Oh well, I should just enjoy the "not knowing". zander
  5. CONGRATULATIONS!@! Any hints for us poor souls who are still suffering???
  6. Congratulations!! I take the NCLEX on the 28th! Interesting to hear that there are a lot of straight content questions. We are drilled into our heads to critically think!! Did it seem easier than you thought?
  7. Thanks so much for the info. We who haven't taken the NCLEX are dying to hear the "real scoop". I also took Kaplan but have been concentrating on Saunder's for the content. I take the NCLEX on June 28th. I am surprised to hear that the NCLEX is so much harder. I thought it was the other way around. That makes me nervous because the Kaplan questions are pretty hard! Thanks again.......zander
  8. For those of you who have ended the torture and taken the NCLEX.... Were there many diet questions such as diets for specific disease processes?? zander (D - Day 6/28
  9. LOL.......you are not the ONLY ONE who was confused. I kept reading the replies trying to figure out which one is actually harder!! I think they think Kaplan is harder.......at least I hope! zander
  10. thanks so much for the info!! I guess since I don't take the NCLEX until a week from Tuesday I need to prioritize my WORRYING!! thanks again, zander
  11. Were the questions typical of what you had been studying?? When did it cut off? BREATHE....... (and congratulations on finishing it) I am sure you will pass zander
  12. It states at pearson Vue that the name must match EXACTLY on your ATT with what is on your primary ID. I confirmed it with my BON.....specifically mentioning the middle name/initial as that is what my problem was. It was an easy thing to fix......You just don't want to get to the testing center and have to deal with that problem!
  13. Not to worry you any more than you already are BUT.....I live in NC and just got my licence (after moving here from GA). Anyway, because of 9/11 NC passed a new law that makes it mandatory for your spelled out middle name to be on your drivers licence!!! Don't worry though. I had applied to take the NCLEX with Pearson Vue before I got my driver's licence and I did NOT include my middle name. Once I got my NC driver's license I too panicked. However, All I had to do was to contact the North Carolina board of nursing (via email) and they changed it. Pearson vue will not change it. It must be done through your BON. Anyway, it was fixed within a week......... any questions feel free to ask.
  14. Does anyone live in North Carolina. We are not one of the states who can receive results through Pearson Vue, so i was wondering if anyone knows the best way to get the results (without having to wait a few weeks)??? 6/28 is D DAY!!!
  15. Thanks for all of the replies. I decided against it because I have so much NCLEX review material PLUS I am finishing up my Kaplan course this week, I might fall into information overload!!! Good luck Holli on Monday.....I would love to hear how you did and what you thought the questions were like compared to all of the NCLEX prep questions we are used to. If you wouldn't mind posting to this thread. I could sure use a confidence boost right about now. Zander
  16. I was wondering if anyone has found Mosby's Cat useful to prepare for the NCLEx?? Lord knows I have 10 different books and CD's to prepare with but thought this sounded good! I take the NCLEX on June 28th!!
  17. Advice Please! I live in Charlotte, NC and will be graduating in May from a college in Atlanta (husband recently transferred). I have begun interviewing for nursing positions for when I graduate and want to make sure I choose the right job for the long term. I already have been offered a position on a Med/Surg floor but the description of the culture of the floor made me nervous (turnover, three changes of Nurse Managers over the last year etc.) So, I have that offer on the back burner. What advice do people have for accepting a first time nursing position? Money is the same for the 2 major hospitals in the area. thanks......
