  1. I took the Nclex last may..i was really nervous and was sure I would fail...I studied for 1 month pretty much 5 days a week for 5 hours a day...i used saunders review with the cd and I think that was the best one. i also put lab values on index cards and memorized them. The last week before the test I focused a lot on my notes from my classes and that seemed to help a lot. and dont study the night before the exam...believe it or not it confuses you and makes you even more nervous....good luck!!
  2. dont be so hard on yourself....everyone feels like they failed when they leave...its only normal...try to relax until you officialy get your results. i know its hard..i didnt sleep at all...but you probably passed...i read in the brochure that pearson gave that said 85% of people pass on their first time..just chill out, good luck! Jemmie, RN :) :)
  3. 1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75 2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? , Saunders, ERI and drexel 3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? Our school uses ERI..I got a 70 percent and passing was a 62...not great, but i did it without opening a book. 4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?I took the test Monday morning...found out wednesday morning. 5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test I am sooo shocked...i cant beleive I passed...if you study and use saunders(the best book ever) you will pass...NCLEX is doable...its not as evil as I thought! just priority and remaining calm is the best advice. 6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? yep!!! and I'm done!!!
  4. just stay calm. that was the advice anyone ccould give me. stop studying today and relax. do something fun, i layed out by the pool the day before mine. get a good night sleep, and eat breakfast, even if you have no appetite. I passed with 75 questions, i felt sooo unprepared...and thats normal. know tht you will walk out being very unsure. just stay calm. by now you know the material...you did nursing school...you can do this too!!! Jemmie RN as of 6/29/05!!!!!!!!
  5. Yea. I took mine on Monday. the BON website is the Board of nursing. I live in new york, so I go to their state board of professionals and search with my name. As far as I heard, it takes fourty eight hours to get your results from pearson vue. I keep checking it to see if they are up yet. What did you put for the nursing radiation question? I put that she could go into the same room as someone recieving chemotherapy...but know I think I should have put she should go into her own room....ugh...this is horrible, I havent been able to eat in 2 days!
  6. I cant believe that I am going to find out in a few hours if I past or failed. I go from one minute saying I passed to the next saying I failed. I have been checking the state BON website for my name and I havent seen anything yet. i also logged onto pearson but it says my results are not up yet. I began my exam at around 8:40, so does that mean that they will be up around 9 or do I have the wait until 48 hours from the time I left the exam? AAAAAHHHHH this is the worst...I have chewed all my fingernails off. I'm going to Greece for a month tomorrow and I cant even think about it until I find out if I pass......or fail.... This is by far..the worst part of the whole process!
  7. omg...thats so wierd...I hope I passed..It sounds like everything on the board who passed had somewhere around 75 questions. One minute I say to myself I passed, the next I say that I failed....I hate this! good luck..
  8. I just read somewhere on here that the average pass rate when you have 75 questions is like 90%...hopefully its true!!
  9. I also took my exam today and had the same pitocin question!!!! OMG that question killed me..I must have did it like ten times. Was it like 10 units of pitocin in a 1000 L bag and the drip rate was 60gtt? I think i got it wrong because I had two or three more math questions. I also shut at 75...I hope what people are saying is true....90 percent of people pass if their computer shuts at 75!!!!
  10. I used saunders to review, and one of my review classes also did. I think Saunders is the best, and questions are most similiar to it. The questions were hard, but not impossible. Everything was pretty familiar and like I said, I could narrow down to two almost always. Here is my list of topics from what I can remember: -priorty..some ABC's -Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome -Preterm labor and meds -Renal failure---LOTS! -Diet for renal failure -Tracheostomy...I'm not sure if your supposed to put something over the stoma when showering or swimming..I put wear a medic alert bracelet for CPR through the stoma.. -theraputic communication-depression -What to do if a client went into preterm labor and the baby died...i said offer them to hold the baby? -Know normal labs....like ca, mg, na, ect -know normal CBC's -Catopril..or some cardic med of the similiar -pre teaching for stress test.the question was something like the client misunderstanding I said he should bring nitro -client teaching foor loop diuretic----K+ -Signs, and symptoms of parkinsons disease -microdrip med calculcations---know that 60 microdrips are in 1 ml or drop -chemotherapy and radiation, the question was something about a person that is recieving radiation and putting them in a room with a person with brest cancer that is recieivng chemo..i said that is ok and that the person with external radiation does not need their own room..I think i was wrong though...but it didnt say the type of external radiation..i should have put their own room!!! Crap! -Scarlet fever....i didnt even study it! -Herpes Simplex 2 -AIDS and precaucautions...lots of questions about precautions...know when to wear a mask...glown...gloves ect and with what diseases/viruses -Reflexs in the newborn...know when they go away..(At what age) Thats all i can remember know..I'll post if i remember more...Just remember that anxiety is the worst when you get there...so just calm down..i felt that I honestly knew most of the material..i was just soooo nervous! UGH...and waiting is the worst part. ! :rotfl:
  11. I just let my exam. i am soooo nervous. I have no clue how I did. My computer shut off at 75 questions....I think. the last time i looked at the screen I was at 69 and then it shut off a few minutes after. The questions where hard... a few I did not know, and most that I could narrow down to two...then it was guessing from there. Lots of priority....lots..not just ABC's, although some were. I had 3 medication administration fill in the blanks, four or five select all that apply and no ordering of priority. Is that bad? I dont even remember the last question, but it was priority, and I though I was picking a pretty good choice. I just dont know how I did. Someone help!!! Make me feel better. Is it common to have to priority order like putting in number order...i had none, but lots of select all....HELP!!!!!!!!I just want to be an RN
  12. thanks for the clarifcation....good lucky girls!!!!
  13. i'm taking my test tomorrow also...and i'm soooo nervous. i did two reviews and have been using Saunders review. I did about 2000 questions, and i'm still nervous..i just feel like its not possible to know everything. Everytime i do another set of questions i learn a few more things...does anyone feel like this...and have you passed even though you feel this way?
  14. Hey..i'm taking my test tomorrow..and i'm realllllly nervous..i think with hip fracture you want the leg abducted...I had a question like that on one of my practice tests.
  15. Hi guys...I am studying for NCLEX and taking it in a few weeks. I took the Drexel review course....Anyone heard of it??? and I am also using Saunders. I was an A/B student in nursing school, and always felt confident in my clinicals....but I am soooo nervous about NCLEX. Is it really impossible? Towards the end of the exam, do you feel like you dont know any answers? I am doing pretty good on the questions that I review with, but I do run into things that I just dont know. Is it normal to not know everything? Everyone says priority is such a big thing...I think i'm pretty good with that..but then I heard that on the test, even the priority questions arent clear cut. I heard that its not as easy as ABC.....please help!!!! Any suggestions would be great!!! Thanks! :rotfl:
