  1. Respiratory therapy?

While searching the want ads and hospital employment websites, I have noticed a disturbing trend. It seems that almost all the RT job postings are for "contingent" positions...no full time jobs. Has anyone else noticed that?
  2. RRT questions

True, but every RT I know who has an advanced degree has one in education or administration. I'm not even sure if any schools offer an advanced degree in the clinical aspects respiratory therapy.
  3. RRT questions

Maybe a masters in health education or administration.
  4. I'm DO NOT want to go back to finish my last semester!

You have way too much time and energy invested to quit now. Plus you'd be really upset with yourself if you let the semester start without you. So suck it up and get going. During the boring commencment speech, you'll look back with horror and dis...
  5. Worked in Virgin Islands?

Never worked there, but when I visited the USVI a few years ago, I was told about a local saying: "Got a pain? Get on a plane."
  6. The Pope and The Rabbi

"He took out his lunch so I took out mine." :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I almost ruptured a lung, I laughed so hard.
  7. Wheaties, I just returned from the Philippines too. Enjoyed the visit, but the flight was brutal. For some reason, I just can't fall asleep on an airplane, so I was more than ready to sleep by the time I arrived. Luckily, I got over my jet lag (go...

  9. what are you doing with violence in ed?

The security guards at my facility are legally "special police" with guns, blackjacks, and arrest powers - none of which they hesitate to use. They tend to keep a low profile, but when trouble breaks out, they come pouring out of the woodwork. Gotta...
  10. Oral Presentation!

I have never enjoyed giving oral presentations in class either. Here are two tactics I employ. First, just remember that everyone in your class is in the same boat. Second. volunteer to give yours first. You're going to have to give it eventually...
  11. no helmet

I'd enjoy riding without mine too, but the thought of my head hitting the pavement is enough to make me wear it religiously. A buddy of mine, however, never wears one. According to his thinking, "[t]he only difference a helmet makes is whether the ...
  12. Nurse Abused In Phoenix area

While some states have statutes specifically prohibiting the assault of some healthcare workers, it is not a federal offense. But, as a general principle, it is a crime in all states to assault ANYONE. The trick, of course, is getting the police an...

  14. Nurse Abused In Phoenix area

I certainly hope the nurse files criminal charges. And, unless the patient is judgement proof, sue his stupid a$$.
  15. Words to live by from my former life in the corporate world: "Don't dip your pen in company ink."
  16. Informed consent

If I was a surgeon, I would be absolutey ANAL about having all the i's dotted and the t's crossed where informed consent is concerned. Aside from the fact that the patient deserves to know what the surgeon is going to do to him/her, that lame-braine...
  17. having funky dreams about school?

I remember once when my wife changed the bed side radio to the local educational station. When I went to bed I set the clock radio without looking at the station. When it went off in the morning a progam called "The German Hour" was on. I started ...

  20. I am a Failure!

Giggles, Don't EVER think of yourself as a failure. We all have struggles and set backs, strengths and weaknesses, but as mentioned here already, there is more than one way to skin a cat. Many people become LPN's on their way to becoming RN's. You...
  21. Chronic Tardiness

Of course there are good reasons for being late on rare occasions. If a wreck blocks the freeway and you're stuck behind it, what are you going to do except call in a say you'll be there as soon as traffic starts moving again. But...in most cases i...
