Respiratory therapy?
While searching the want ads and hospital employment websites, I have noticed a disturbing trend. It seems that almost all the RT job postings are for "contingent" positions...no full time jobs. Has anyone else noticed that?
-
RRT questions
True, but every RT I know who has an advanced degree has one in education or administration. I'm not even sure if any schools offer an advanced degree in the clinical aspects respiratory therapy.
-
RRT questions
Maybe a masters in health education or administration.

Worked in Virgin Islands?
Never worked there, but when I visited the USVI a few years ago, I was told about a local saying: "Got a pain? Get on a plane."

The Pope and The Rabbi
"He took out his lunch so I took out mine." :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I almost ruptured a lung, I laughed so hard.

I'm experiencing jet-lag, any tips on how to adjust my sleep pattern?
Wheaties, I just returned from the Philippines too. Enjoyed the visit, but the flight was brutal. For some reason, I just can't fall asleep on an airplane, so I was more than ready to sleep by the time I arrived. Luckily, I got over my jet lag (going both ways) in only one day. By the time you read this, I'm sure you'll be over yours too. Take care.

what are you doing with violence in ed?
The security guards at my facility are legally "special police" with guns, blackjacks, and arrest powers - none of which they hesitate to use. They tend to keep a low profile, but when trouble breaks out, they come pouring out of the woodwork. Gotta love those guys!

Questions about male/female tension in the nursing environment
Words to live by from my former life in the corporate world: "Don't dip your pen in company ink."

Chronic Tardiness
Of course there are good reasons for being late on rare occasions. If a wreck blocks the freeway and you're stuck behind it, what are you going to do except call in a say you'll be there as soon as traffic starts moving again. But...in most cases it's simply a matter of someone thinking (consciously or subconciously) that their time is more valuable than yours. Next time you have to stay over because you are waiting to give report to someone who is putting on their make-up, making personal calls, or enjoying some quiet time with their morning cup of coffee, just remember the message they are sending. "My make-up/phone call/cup of coffee is more important than whatever it is you do when you leave here." And, I don't mean this as a personal attack on anyone here, but those folks who say "I'm always late, and I hate it, but I just can't change," are among the worse offenders. They're just more polite about about disrespecting you.

pediatrician in trouble"Mr Enema"
Yuk!! I am constantly amazed at the way some folks get their jollies. "Mr. Enema" should be on the receiving end of a bag of Professional Strength Drano. I bet that would un-kink him.

CRNA's in the future...
Lots of good advice, but geez...lighten up. Skrawberri didn't say he/she was in it JUST for the money. We all have to make a living. I bet there is not one nurse on here who would do it for free.
