Has anyone worked as a nurse for an Insurance Company?
I am a LVN working in home-health. full time. With the new pay cuts I am searching for a second job. I heard there is work for nurse's in the insurance companies. It sounds like a nurse goes to the home and gives a medical assessment. I am not sure of all the details. Has anyone heard of this?? I have searched the internet for the job title and how to find this kind of work, with no luck. I would really appreciate any help from my fellow nurses. Also, if you might have any ideas of part time work for LVN's. I am currently working full time, but as I said, I need to add a part time job due to the pay cuts recently. Thank you in advance.

Pediatric Visiting Nurse
A temporal thermometer is a great help with kids. they are not cheap but worth it. A portable pulse ox is nice too. A GPS for your car is a must. Good luck
- Once upon a time, we were new to nursing.

What would you do?
I am a home health nurse. I was working in a home with a patient for the entire day. The family had gone to work and I was there alone. The patient was asleep. Suddenly, I heard very loud crying and screaming comeing from the next door neighbor. A woman was crying about her baby. She kept saying, "but it's my baby." I could hear her loud and clear, but did not see her. It went on for at least fifiteen minutes. Finally, I decided to go peek out the window,,There was a man pushing the women against the house and they continured to argue and the women was histarical. They kept referring to a baby being in the car and that the baby was crying. I never went outside. It was very stressful to say the least. The people carried on for at least 45 minutes. What would you have done? Would you call the police? Would you just go back to your day and do nothng? Do you think that it was a bad situation?

Unsanitary Condtions in Home/Can I refuse to take case
Hi everyone, I am a home health care nurse. I have loved my job up until this present case. The home enviorment that I work in is filthy to say the least. Backed up sewage in the sink, infested with flies, garbage over flowing in the house. This is just to mention a few things, but you get the idea. I spend eight hours a day with the patient doing trach care, and basic nursing care. I am an LVN. It is not a diffiuclt case, however the condtions are so difficult for me to deal with I run home and feel like I have to sterlize myself. It is beyound filthy. My question is this: I hate this job I am at. I have nightmares about it. I would like to tell my employee that I just cant take it. But I am afraid they will not give me another case cause. I have not worked in this job long, and do not want to jeopordize my job. So, what do you think? Should I try and get out. Signed, Miserable

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
Katie, You already have a head start. You know what to expect when you go into the boards to take the exam. Keep studying everyday. Remember you made it through nursing school and you can do this. Another good book is the Kaplan book regarding how to take the NCLEX. It will help you understand how to break down the questions to the correct answer. It helped me a lot. Use the CD's of the books you purchase. This is the format that will be on the boards and keep you familar with the way to answer the questions. I know you can do this and pass. Keep praying. God Bless and best wishes

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
Katie, Best of luck to you. Do not give up, give ur self a break to rest ur mind. Then go at it again. Give yourself two months to study everyday. At least 100 questions per day. Try Sanders. I used the CD and went to exam part. Bookmark the questions you do not get and go back to them. Read all rationals even if the answer you got was correct. And last but not least know ur labs. Best of luck. Oh, the most important thing, pray everyday. Prayer is powerful!:heartbeat

NCLEX Takers Support Thread
A prayer forum is a great idea. I believe prayer is what helped me pass the NCLEX. I prayed everyday. Prayer is powerful and more powerful if it is more than one praying

Nclex help
I would suggest Sanders. I read the book first then I went to the exam part on the CD and did at least one hundred questions per day. Read the rationales, even if you answered the question correct. Bookmark the questions you did not get correct and go back over them once you have completed all the questions. Also the Kaplan book on how to take the NCLEX is great. It will help you to understand how the test is set up and how to narrow down the right answer. I also used Feuer tapes, you can download them somewhere on the internet for free. I used these in the car. Memorize your labs, these are important. Good luck and pray

Passed NCLEX/PN, delayed license due to past conviction
I am praying. I believe so much in the power of prayer. The more I read these posts from such careing and kind people I feel so proud to be a part of the nursing comunity. Mine was a misdeamor of a shoplifting conviction. I sent them a letter with my application explaining in detail the offense. I also stated in the letter how ashamed I am of my behavior and take full responsibility for my actions. I am ashamed of such behavior, there is never an excuse to break the law. After I received the letter stateing that I had passed but my license was being delayed so that the BON could go over my past conviction I called the BON right away. They told me it would be a week to a week and a half before they will contact me regarding the situation. I am hopeful I do not have to wait yet another month or more to find out. What torture. Thank you for all the support. It means so very much to me. More than you know.

Passed NCLEX/PN, delayed license due to past conviction
OMG, you do not know how grateful I am that you have written me. I am a wreck every second of the day. I cannot stop thinking about it. Are you in California? . How did things go for the person you knew that received their licence with a past conviction. Did they have to go before the board? I am trying to prepare myself with what tiny bit of sanity I have left. I am praying, and I will pray for you as well. Please pray for me.

What to do?
I do not know if you took the RN or LVN, but check with the pamplet that came with your application, it should explain how often you can take it and how many times. There is always hope. Give yourself a little break, breath and start again. Get on a schedule. Go over at least one hundred questions per day, and read the rationals on all questions. I used Sanders, it was helpful. Also, a very very helpful book is the Kaplan book on how to test for NCLEX. This book will teach you how to work through the test. I also used Feuer tapes. I listened to them every time I was in the car and sometimes right before I went to bed. Keep trying and pray. God Bless you, Be proud that you are trying and working toward your dream.

Passed NCLEX/PN, delay in license due to past conviction
Please help! I just received my NCLEX/PN results. I passed! However there is a delay in my license due to a past conviction of a misdemeanor charge (petty thief) from seven years ago that the BON needs to look in to. I reported the conviction when I applied, I gave them all the paper work, I sent them a letter explaining the conviction in detail, and also the conviction was expunged. I am a wreck. I am so scared. Has this happened to anyone else. I know most people will say, you have to wait and hear from the BON. I called them, they said I have to wait one to one and half more weeks to hear from them. I have already waited over a month due to the fact that I live in California and it take that long to get results. I would just like to know if any one else had a misdemeanor charge and passed their boards, recieved this notice and still will able to obtain their license. I am so scared. Please help. Thank you so much.

Hey Mikeejel, I really believe in the trick,, It works. I felt I had failed. I got home and looked up a few of the questions I could remember and it appeared I did not get them right. You have all ready passed Mikeejel. I took the NCLEX/Pn on March 30. It was a long wait but now it is behind me. You have passed. Keep praying and I will pray for you too. God Bless.
