  1. Patient: "I need to be changed" Me: "True change comes from within"
  2. Got it, thanks.
  3. Where??????? Why am I not seeing this forum?
  4. Got laid off from my old job, considered getting into X-Ray but the waiting list was too long. I was married at the time with children and needed to get in and out of school quickly. LPN school was a good option. 15 month course and lotta jobs available
  5. Thanks P2000. Anyone else have any insight. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not to take the plunge into HH. About how much charting is involved for the LPN. Surely not as much as the RN,no? What about admissions? Is that strickly for RNs or will I be involved in that too?
  6. I've always wanting to open a Nursing Home called "Knockin on Heaven's Door"
  7. I found a lot of good info on home health by searching the site. Most of it was written by RNs who shared their duties and experiences. I'm an LPN and am pretty sure I will be getting an offer to do home health soon. I was wondering, as an LPN, what will I be doing in home health. I'm guessing that I'll be changing dressings, possibly giving meds, maybe doing trachs, beyond that, I'm not really sure what else I should expect. If anyone can share anything they know, I would appreciate it. Also, what kind of charting and paperwork will be involved. I'm think I'll be expected to see 5-7 pts per day, and it is an hourly wage job. I've been in psych for quite a while, night shift at that so, I've forgotten a lot of medical skills. My concerns are I.Vs, drawing blood, etc. I will definitely have to be retrained. Will there be a lot of this?
  8. I swear that at the first facility I ever worked at we used a Geriatric MD named "Dr. McElderly" and a Gyno named "Dr. Zipper"
  9. Another vote for New Balance. 608s? or whatever. They conform to my feet pretty well and hold up nicely. I usually get them for $39-$44.
  10. Hey everyone. I'm a male nurse. Been an LPN for 14 yrs now. I've been working in psych for much of the time. Also have a lot of geriatric experience. Presently in psych. I do have a few questions about a job I'm considering taking in another area of nursing but would like to do a 'search' for answers before making a bunch of unnecessary posts that already have been answered. Is there a search function on this board? I can't seem to locate it. EDIT: Duh, nevermind. Found the search box.
