Lone Star Spring 2011
yes it has but one story, but they go into detail of what kind of questions they ask and how they will ask them. That is the most important detail. Just my 2 cents and I did pretty good on the reading.

Lone Star Spring 2011
I recommend the study guide from the people that created the HESI exam. It is called Evolve Reach Assessment Exam Review. It does have some errors in the answers of it math but it is still well worth the investment.

Hey sis sorry for not getting an acceptance letter from Kingwood, but I have confidence that with your score you are on the top of KW's alternate list to get an acceptance letter any time. Brian

My sister says Toronto, but to be more accurate we are from the city of Mississauga Ontario. Since most people don't have a clue where that is we just say Toronto.

Let me clarify "practice" HESI questions.:)

Is BSN really necessary?
I have heard this is only true for Memorial Hermann Hospitals. Besides, some of us have to start somewhere and the BSN route just doesn't make sense up front. I am interested in the hospital paying for my continuing education once I am hired as an RN, so hopefully this is the case when my ADN is completed.

Random Question about Lonestar
I would be interested in this also since I am applying for the 2011 spring programs.

UT Arlington Partnership Online RN-BSN
I too am interested in what you think of the program. I have heard your clinicals are arranged at a medical facility close to your area since UT has many partnerships with hospitals around Texas. Let me know what you think of the program since once I have my ADN I am considering this route to get my BSN. Thanks!

Lone Star Spring 2011
mks1014 the kingwood director did not say why other than they were putting the online course on hold until they could iron out problems that they were having with it. i would say that means they had some technical issues with it. i will not be taking the hesi and applying to the program until the last week of august since i am retaking general psyc for the summer session ii since i made a b in the 80's and i need an a. in the meantime i will be brushing up on my math skills... brian

Lone Star Spring 2011
Hello everyone! I am a spring 2011 hopefull too. I met with the Kingwood Nursing Program Director today and she did say that they offer the early graduating option and it is for sure a lottery selection based on the number of requests. She also said that they are not offering the online ADN program this semester because of too many problems. Has anyone taken the HESI yet? If so, any one willing to describe the kind of questions asked in the reading comprehension? Also, my HESI review book does not have any full algebra problems. So, is it safe to say there are no algebra problems? I ask since my HESI review book which is the Evolve book written by the HESI testing people and it only has basic addition, subtraction, division, multiplication of basic numbers, fractions, decimals, metric and standard measuring. Just trying to get a handle on the reading comprehension & math sections. thanks. Brian

UT Houston Fall 2010 (University of Texas at Houston)
FYI everyone, I just got off the phone with someone at the UT Houston BNA department and she said that this fall was the last time they are requiring the NET test and that they are switching to the HESI entrance exam starting Spring 11. I just missed the window of opportunity to take the NET exam to get into this fall. That is way ahead of the fall semester???

Should I take A&P I class with a Sociology class and Fitness for Life I class?
Yeah, I would recommend taking an exercise class to work off that "junk in your trunk" since you'll be sitting around studying everyday with that A&P I class.

Need help getting my foot in the door; any suggestions?
I too am interested in some sort of hospital job while I'm working on finishing my prereq's for the RN program at Lone Star College in Houston. It would be nice to have a hospital help with my nursing education while I work there. I have applied for some non nursing jobs at some hospitals online but I have not heard anything from them. I have 18 years professional sales and consulting experience in the computer industry. I even have 5 years background with medical practice management software systems for physicians. Anyone have any suggestions to get us in front of some HR people at some of the hospitals without a nursing degree or certificate???

HCC HESI test
I too am a 44 year old (male) that has decided to leave the corporate cut throat world to become an RN. So, I'll be taking the entrance exam about a year from now after I finish 5 prerequisite classes that I didn't need for my Associates degree way back in the stone ages at North Harris. I haven't thought about or looked at Algebra since the 80's so how difficult are the math questions for the pre entrance exam? Also, are the math questions more difficult at the end with the RN exam? Thanks. Brian

HCC HESI test
For ya'll that have taken the HESI entrance exam to start the basic RN track. How difficult was the math portion of the exam? How complex were the algebra and geometry questions? I ask because I'm 44 years old and I took college algebra at North Harris back in 1986, so I probably need to do some serious brushing up. :uhoh21:
