  1. Do you mean PMHNP, PNP is a pediatric nurse practitioner . I'm not sure how much psych nursing was in your FNP program I know as a PNP I am able to treat ADHD after consulting with behavioral health and our psychiatrist , anything more complex goes to Behavioral health / psych for evaluation. Good luck
  2. Blue Devil CoreO ZENMAN been looking for recent posts by them and haven't seen any posts

Thank you all for the encouragement , this has been devastating for me, I was never a sunbather, or used a tanning bed, have a dark complexion , dark hair and eyes, and was shocked. I've cried , yelled and was angry, im past that just determined to move on , I don't want people feeling sorry for me. I won't let people feel sorry for me , I plan on returning and if people ask why ( my close co workers know ), I'll tell them . Im going back with a positive attitude and if I find I can't do it all I'll be honest rather than jeopardize care . Again thanks

Hi all , I was diagnosed with stage 3B melanoma in May after 2,surgeries I still have days where I'm exhausted , my melanoma required a wide local incision then the next week a complete axillary lymph node dissection I now have a post op infection that isn't responding to antibiotic. I told work 2 weeks ago I would return 8/3, I'm worried now that this will set me further back from returning to work , along with that i am entering a clinical trial for melanoma and it requires one day a week , I haven't been there long enough for FMLA but was there long enough to collect short term disability . I need to approach HR this week and although they have been supportive I'm not sure how they will feel about 4 days a week, I know other providers do 4 days a week but I don't want too feel like I'm asking for a favor
  7. Good luck I took a& p during the summer it was hard
  8. I'm a nurse practitioner used to have a receptionist who gave medical advice all the time, would tell parents oh your child needs a antibiotic , I'd see the child and he had a cold , would then explain that the receptionist was not a nurse just because she was wearing scrubs. One day she told a parent that the child had a fracture before the report even reached my desk, there was no fracture . She's no longer there😷
  9. I don't think the op stated she wanted her kids too sleep away from home. I think for her the only job she can get is night shift. Unfortunately trying to get a job as a new RN , you get the more undesirable shifts. If you don't have family too help , you do what you have too. She may not have a choice. I worked nights, my children survived
  10. When I mentioned both of these conditions the mom stated " I was told by a er doc a while back to have it ( the hydrocele ) looked at . The child is 3 and hasn't been seen since he was 9 months old. I think there's more here than the mom being angry about me being a NP. The whole thing is strange.
  11. Parents brought their children in today for a school physical and after the exam was completed and I had referred one for a hydrocele and estropia, expressed their displeasure at not seeing a MD INSTEAD of a glorified nurse. The mom began to rant why the "f" are we seeing you instead of the MD ( who is on vacation) . She questioned my qualifications , I explained to her what my qualifications were and that if there were any questions as to the diagnosis that I would consult . When she made the appointment she was made aware that she was seeing a NP . The mom continued to rant at that point I stated , " if you don't feel I'm qualified to examine and refer your child to a specialist , then obviously I'm not qualified too sign off on his school form, would you like to reschedule the appointment for when the pediatrician is available in three weeks . ( the child was already getting to be refused back in school with out a physical ). Rant over
  12. If you didn't register for classes how can they charge you tuition. I don't understand what you mean by sister schools, are they part of a state wide university system , or another college with in the university ,for example I attended ABC university but graduated from the xyz school of nursing at ABC. I think I'd be calling the registrar office. Good luck
  13. I have a MA refers to herself as a nurse she triages calls, every rash is measles, so far I've only seen acne , allergic reaction to PCN, not measles SMH
  14. I actually told mom no because there was no diagnosis code👀👀
  15. Ok I get a lot of questions / requests from patients and parents. Yesterday on April 1 I had a parent ask me if I could measure her daughter for a proper fitting bra👀. Immediately I thought this is a April fools joke. Calmly I replied no but there are many department stores who can. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Mom was serious .

The statement " I wanted you to see how high his/ her fever is" baffles me. The kid is sick with a 104.2 fever and whimpering and you want me too see how high the fever is. Let me show you the door as soon as i medicate him and diagnose his raging AOM. My other pet peeve he vomited last week and I kept him home all week will you write a school note excuse for him for a entire week. Um no. My favorite he's vomiting every time I feed him ( kid is obese) he's going to starve on clear liquids . Um no but he will dehydrate to where I admit him . Quit feeding him .the reverse law of physics what goes down will come up 💆
  17. Lunch forget it if I get 15 minutes I'm happy ,leave at 5 try more like 5:30. Everyone has the same schedule 15 minute appt slots regardless of type of appt they have . Providers have no say in scheduling
  18. As much as I love my job I'm frustrated with the things that are put in as urgent visits in my already over booked schedule . Today I was triple booked for a 8 month old who was tripping over her feet , but missed her last 2 well baby appointments , a two year old who woke up with a runny nose and a mom who thought the child's wart on her hand that had been there for months was a emergency . Of course no one showed up on time . I finally told staff that the asthmatic was going to be seen before the late ones. The late ones got upset because they had to wait . Supposedly the nurses in triage are triaging , the office manager goes and ahead and ok'd walk ins with out triage and doesn't bother to see how backed up I am. Why because we are a fqhc and the more patients we see the more grants we get. Every patient seen for a acute appointment has to have a follow up appointment . Rant over .
  19. We have designated blue jean days. I wear nice jeans with a nice top and lab jacket. Never had a issue with patients complaint about attire.
  20. I'm a pediatric nurse practitioner I used to have a receptionist who took it upon herself to advise parents that their child needed a antibiotic upon presenting with a runny nose. Finally one day I asked her in private to see her license, with a confused look on her face she asked my drivers license ? No I replied your license to practice medicine. 😊
