  1. @Alicoco Hi did you end up taking pathophysiology outside of nightingale? Im trying to find an online Patho class if you know of any. Thank you
  2. Hi Had12, I haven't applied yet. I plan on applying for the cohort that starts in Sept. If you don't mind me asking what we're your HESI scores? I haven't taken mine yet.
  3. Hi it really depends on where you work. Home health you can get paid anywhere from 18-35. I know of one that pays LVN's 40 a visit, but of course it's hard to get in. If you go to smaller homehealth agencies you tend to get more. In a hospital you would start out making at the least at 24 and hour, but that's if the hospital is union. I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley area, and I think you can find affordable areas out there. If I were you I would go back for my RN. It just makes things easier. Hope this info helps.
  4. Have you looked into CNI College, American Career College, and Stanbridge University. All three have Rn programs without a waitlist. They cost about 75,000 for each program. The cost is less if you have classes done. Also these aren't Bsn programs they're Adn programs. Hope this helps you out.
  5. Hi Aniiigh, where did you see biochemistry on straighterline? I was checking and didn't see that offered through straighterline.
  6. Hi guys I will also be applying to WGU soon. Almost.nurse.ts are you still working on you prerequisites?
  7. BreeFutureBSNRN where did you take your online PE course? I'm in need of PE also.
  8. I think your best bet is to call the board and see what they say. I do know there are Psych Tech to RN programs. You wouldn't be challenging the boards if you did it that way.
  9. They offer accelerated science, math, and psych classes at Southern California University of Health Sciences in Whittier, Ca. Each class is 1800, and you can pay weekly. Each class is one month sat and sun from 10-7 or 8-4. They have some classes that are fri night and Saturday day. I'm not sure what the hours are for those days. Hope this helps you.
  10. I passed my nclex a year ago. I read a little bit of the Saunders review book, did 1500 Kaplan, and 1000 Saunders questions. Make sure to do a lot of SATA questions. Goodluck to you!!
  11. Hi cvh1576, I also challenged the boards. You should have enough to challenge the boards if you have the Med Surg, peds and pharmacology done. I didn't have a hard time finding a job afterwards. I got hired at a nursing home quickly after I got my license. Then 3 months after that I was hired at a hospital in Los Angeles, and at a home health agency. On both applications it stated that the applicant needed to have graduated from an accredited lvn program. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions. Best of luck to you!
  12. That may help him, but I'm not sure. You should also look into homehealth.
  13. I don't think the job market is that bad in the San Gabriel valley area. I got my lvn last summer and I got job offers from a few nursing homes on the spot. Then I was hired at a hospital after 3 months. I think it just depends on how badly you want it.
  14. Don't be discouraged just because you didn't pass the first time. I also challenged the nclex and I didn't pass. The second time I took it and I passed. Good luck to you
  15. One just started this month so six months from now. I spoke with another coworker who recently graduated from there. She took her prerequisites at a Jc and did the RN program through ACC. She told me the final cost was 20,000.
  16. The program is offered every six months.
  17. I'm not in the program but I also went to the info session. Classes are either 2 or 3 days a week. I have a coworker in the program and she has only said good things about it.
  18. My first job as a new lvn in a ltc facility I was paid 23. Now I work at hospital in Los Angeles and I'm making a little over 25.
  19. I like the hours in a nursing home, because you can work 7 to 3 or 3 to 11, but the pay at a hospital is better. It depends on if the hospital needs you, how many days you will work. At the least you will get 1 day a week. Maybe you should look into doing registry work, that way you can make your own schedule. If your gonna do registry try and sign up for a few registries. Its harder to do per diem work at a long term care facility.
  20. If I were you I would forget both and do the lvn. If your really looking to invest in your future that would be the best. MA and cna makes less than lvn but MA's do about the same work. Also if you worked in a clinic as a lvn you would be doing the same work as a MA but getting paid more. Also if you like the lvn work it would be easier for you school wise to go on and be a rn. I didn't realize money was such a big option but as a cna you could always do regisrty work and that would to bring in extra money and you would be able to make your own schedule.
  21. The difference between an lvn and an rn is that rns are more of a supervisor. They are responsible for delivering, planning, and managing patient care in an acute or specialty settings. Lvns give medications change wound dressing give meds some start IVs. A lot of this the rn can do but if the lvn is there it usually will be done by the lvn. RN go to school for 2 to 5 years, and lvns usually take classes for a year to 18 months.
  22. Anything over 300 is way to much to pay for a cna class. Go to an adult school or community college. Its just as easy to get in as any other place. Also for a cpr card you can go to your local hospital pay 50 dollars for the next available class. Also have you looked into an lvn program. I wish someone would have told me to go for that instead of cna only due to the fact that the pay is better.
  23. I had a phone interview, and I was asked how my previous employer would rate me as an employee. Why did I quit that job. What was one of my best days there, and what was one of my hardest. If there was one thing that would make me take a stand what would it be. They explain to you that how long the interview last depends on you. So make it last long and say good things about yourself. Also they ask if you were ever late, or ever had any no call no shows, if you were ever fired. Just say no to all of those questions hahaha. Hope that helped.
  24. The first person was right you end up making between 16 and, 23 an hour. Most nursing homes start you off at 10 dollars if you don't have any experience. You should try and look into registry work, I hear there is decent pay in that about $16 dollars or more at places in los angeles.
  25. Alot of the LVN's I worked with at a convalescent home in los angeles worked at the VA hospital close to westwood Maybe you should try there. They had also started working there after just graduating.
