I am sorry to hear that you are having such a horrible time with nursing school. Nursing school is hard enough without people trying to sabatoge you. I was lucky I guess my instructors/Director didn't show much if any bias with us male students and appeared to enjoy having us there. School was still hard and demanding but we as a class stuck together male and females alike and got through it. Hang in there find a few close friends in your class that will be your support system through the remainder of the program and study hard together. Prove to the naysayers that you do belong there. It was easy to bash Bush and his admin because they made it so easy. For B.Obama he has yet to really make many truely bashable mistakes or changes in government that are so easily targeted as our previous presidents give anyone enough time in the spotlight and he or she will make the mistake that will allow us to bash.

Personally I go to the gym and love my tennis shoes they are Nike Shox work well for running and higher impact stuff so they too are great for standing all day. For a bit dressier feel I wear my Dr. Marten boots very comfortable too.

Some hospitals do require tats to be covered it depends on the policies of the hospital you work in. I for one do work in a hospital that does require this. Sometimes people are unable to see males in a career as nursing I for one have been ridiculed by MACHO men thinking that they are better than me because I am in a "girls" profession but I just reply to them well where else can I be surrounded by beautiful and educated women all the time, have versatility in my career choice, get paid quite well and above all enjoy what I am doing. Kind of changes the macho mentlity a bit.

I took the NCLEX last week and went in feeling confident that I was going to pass and supprisingly I left still feeling confident. The NCLEX is not the monster test that many make it out to be rather it is somewhat easier than many of the test i had taken during nursing school. I did study alot and practically read the entire Saunders book. My test did consist of meds (both generic and brand are listed) about 9-10 SATA's, lots of prioritization, and infection control. Just understand the NCLEX is similar to any of the practice tests you have done take your time and don't let your emotions get you worked up. Read each question choose the best answer and go to the next one, trust yourself rely on your skills you acquired during school and you will be just fine.

I just took my test and never really was too worried and supprisingly felt like I did well leaving the testing site, especially after the computer shut off on me after 75 questions. Personally I had an idea going into the test that 75 questions was all I was doing because I knew I was going to pass it eaily. Sure there were questions on subjects I didn't remember but I was able to narrow my answers down most of the time. Definately do as many practice questions as you can because they are the best indication on how you rationalize the question and after you do the questions read all the rationals even on the questions you got right the information given is invaluable for test taking strategy. On test day have confidence in your ability and understand that the NCLEX is just like every test you have taken since you started nursing school its not the boogeyman it's hyped up to be.

I found the key to the NCLEX is not thinking it is the monster that is out to get you rather it is just like all the practice tests that you have been taking (When you take practice test the primary goal is to read the question entirely make sure you understand its root and what the question is looking for as an answer ;find the correct answer to the question and don't second guess yourself, take your time with the practice questions and after the practice tests review every rational even if you got the questionright this will give you lots of insight on what the question is looking for and also useful information about the wrong answers). When you are able to control the anxiety and fear that is inherent with taking the NCLEX then you are ready to give the test all you have. Anxiety and fear are difficult things to overcome but once you have conquered them and found a positive coping strategy you will pass the NCLEX. GOOD LUCK.

I took the NCLEX RN on July 21st and went home did the Pearsonvue Loophole and wasn't allowed to register tried the following day and still unable to register. received my License on th NM BON website early this morning so yes the loophole does work. Also told my classmates about the loophole and three of them checked all were unable to register and all three passed.

I too was a procrastinator and at times still am, Nursing school does have a way of changing the procrastination habit significantly. From my experience it almost totally directs you to devote multiple hours a night to just studying and don't get me started on care plans and being prepared for clinicals. what I'm trying to say is as a fellow previous procrastinator it is possible to complete a nursing program but the tendencies of procrastination do change.

I agree that the pledge is outdated and the white hats come on. I too had to endure the torture of tradition, my arguement that did get some of the females to come to my side was it too was tradition for the nurses to stand up in respect when the physician entered the room is that the type of nostalgia your looking for with white clothing and purity pledges.

I feel taht the biggest part of taking tests is confidence and keeping your anxiety levels down. Obviously you have been studying if your grades are good you do practice question every other day so obviously, your knowledge of NCLEX style testing is great. I just took the NCLEX-RN and realized that it wasn't the monster that everyone makes it out to be actually if you take your tiime and read the questions and the answers you can come up with the correct one most of the time. Good Luck you will do fine just keep your anxiety to a minimum while you test.

I took my NCLEX RN yesterday the 21st and just like the above posters posted if you go in and look at it just like another practice test you will do just fine. I was pleasantly suprised on how it kind of seemed less intimidating once I started the test. Now I just have to wait for my results.... and good luck to you...

I had to sit through an entire semester of taking ERI questions, quizzes and tests to prepare us for my nursing program's exit exam which was the Keystone exam OUCH!!! The Keystone exam is very difficult and we were only allowed to take the test twice. If after two unsuccessful attempts the student was required to retake the semester. OUCH!! OUCH!! I did pass the exit keystone exam on the first try but just barely. I hope that the Keystone is not like the NCLEX if it is I'm definately looking at some trouble.

I just graduated Nursing school on May 23, 2009 and completed school with a GPA of 3.89 which suprisingly was enough to make me the valedictorian of the class. I was able to work throughout school too. Not much of a social life outside work, school and family though.
