I study for about an hour,then I go and do something else.I memorize ALL of the highlighted words and the Chapter summary.Actually I read the chapter summary first,then memorize the words,then I read the text if I have time.If the text is confusing me I would find another way to learn the same information.Youtube was helpful with that,There are LOTS of professors on there and sometimes a different personality can help me to learn the same material.I NEVER study for hours and I really don't think that I could retain any information that way...I also have an app on my phone where I make flash cards and I look at those during my commute to school.Its very helpful to know your 'learning style" I am a visual learner so listening to lectures rarely helps me..I just zone out.it would be wise to try different study methods to see which one sticks.I also study with my kid during his homework time..so we both get at least 2 good hours of study per day.

Call the credit card company. Most Companies will forgive one 30 day late payment every 16 months..I would also consider moving in with family members until you finish school.It might be hard since you have a husband but it might help the money situation.

Do you have help with childcare other than the daycare? I'm asking because if your child is sick they might want her to stay home,some child care centers also close for certain holidays and vacations.Nursing school can get crazy and your schedule can change without notice based on which clinical's are available. LPN's are NOT going anywhere so I wish that rumor would end,its been around for years.Some hospitals want magnet status so they hire BSN's but there are plenty of places to work as an LPN. Lastly, the issue with the cost.. If you cant get into a cheaper school because of wait lists I say do it..don't be like me and wait YEARS to get off if 3+ waiting lists..I eventually went to a private school anyways.I could have done that sooner.It was not my first choice, but it was the best choice because I was ready for my life to change. As far as your baby, it will be hard to leave her, but this is best for your future and hers.You can do it!

I would go to a private LPN school,then transfer to lpn to BSN...It sucks,but you can get started faster.

Are you at a Community college? Talk to the school's financial aid officer,maybe you can do work study or they might know of other programs like WIA or something similar in your area.Have you tried the unemployment office? They give out funding for school tuition.

You could also just SAVE as much as you can for 1-2 years,then quit your job and go back.I mean bare down to the minimum!!! L.A. is expensive..I would move somewhere cheaper(Riverside county) If you can still get to work without using too much gas,cut down my phone bill,(Mine costs 30 bucks a month for 1,000 minutes.I use my roommates phone when I'm in the house because its unlimited.) Take public transportation,cut out Cable and anything else....

I was in your situation Years ago.I Choose to do what was right for my kids at the time,I now regret that decision because If I had suffered through the pain then my life would be better now.Whenever you go back to school you will have less time with your child..whether you do it now or in the future,but as our kids grow their needs and demands grow,they cost more and they have more activities and financial needs.From one single Parent to the next-I would say to do it now as long as you have childcare for your kid. Its better to be poor with a 5 year old than poor with a teenager. I always wanted a life where I'm able to pick my kids up from school and study with them.I know that kids get into the most trouble after school when they don't have supervision or activities to keep them busy,so Now I have to balance My school,work,Their school(And when they get old enough YOU will be spending a LOT of time helping with homework!) Activities,sports,and being SURE that I am there for them EVERYDAY after school and at all sports and performances. Something had to give...It was work.I can only work part time while doing all of this and forget about a social life.I should have done this while they were smaller. In the end YOU have to make this decision because you and ONLY you have to live with the consequences. But If I could rewind time I would have done it back then with my savings and worked ANYWHERE that fit into my schedule to supplement my income.

The school is more like 30,000+ now WITHOUT books,uniforms ect.The program is also 16 months.It would be 11 months but NO ONE passes the mysterious accuplacer so EVERYONE has to take remidial classes before they start the regular program-Thats how they get you.I have not met a SINGLE person who was not placed in at least one remedial class...even if you already took math and/or english at the university..they wont accept your transfer credits.I have met lots of people who passed the accuplacer at other schools but not here.They charge you $300 if you miss a clinical to make it up..4 tardies and you FAIL that clinical(Which is understandable I guess).There is really no where to park unless you want to spend $34 a day parking downtown so the train or bus will be your best bet.The clinicals are in random places and you cant pick your clinical location. The school is downtown so that is a plus for some people.Its right across the street from Macys and Millinium park.The location is beautiful,although inconvinient.

You can make 13-15 as a Cna working in a hospital.You have been given good advice and I hope that you are willing to think about some of the suggestions.I agree that you should do your LPN at this point.Why not if its the same amount of time as the ST..but u could be making more money and not be on call? BTW,did you think about how u will finish school if u are on call with various working hours?...Begin with the end in mind.Your goal is to be an R.N. so IMO,U should do CNA,LPN,RN...

My husband owns the security company for a hospital in the WORST area of Chicago.The worst things that I hear from him usually involve cars.For some reason people leave laptops,purses,and things of value in their cars and the idiots like to break into them.HIs hospital allows you to have security escort you to your car after work...but I never hear of any robberies or beatings of the hospital staff.Sometimes I drop him off at work and when I pick him up-late night..I see staff walking from the train 4 blocks away with no problem.Most people in "bad"neighborhoods are not "out to get you." most are just hard working folks...and drug dealers stay to themselves and their customers to avoid attention...its the drug addicts that u need 2 worry about..they want money..so dont go to work with your fancy Gucci bag.

Hello,So which careers in healthcare are currently in demand? Do you guys know other hospital jobs where one can work 12 hour shifts? I'm not sure about nursing.

CAn new grads work as charge nurses?

They say that everywhere in every state for MANY years.

As a new nurse you will need to stick in one area for at least a year to get experience,once things pick back up you could do travel nursing.

Did you consider getting your LPN,then getting the RN-bsn while you work? It could work.Does your current school have the Lpn program? If not I would find a private college that accepts financial aid and then find a bridge program.BUt I would surely check out some other programs because 3 years is too long to maybe get in a program.Good luck!!!!!

Currently taking A&P 2 at edukan..we do labs.I already had to dissect an eyeball and heart,and PLENTY of virtual labs...I have actually learned a lot.And I don't get charged "out of State fees" I pay the same as the folks in Kansas!...full accredited school too.

I think the suspension was fair,but its just a "learning lesson" like you said and hopefully things will improve.I would also have a talk with the X because its not appropriate for him to be gossiping about you with the CNA.

How do you apply for jobs in other states? I mean,If My license is in Montana and I go for an interview in Florida won't it be a long time before I can "transfer" it...Won't I have to be licensed in Florida at the time of the interview?

I was in the same situation.Here are my tips that helped the most: 1.Do your work EARLY!...things can and Will happen.Trust me on this one.If assignments are due on Friday,try to have everything completed by Tue/Wed. 2.With online classes the instructors usually open the assignments early.If I were you I would try my best to be a week ahead just in case you really need a few days off. 3.Study with your kids! After school I would make sure to get quality time in with my kids by playing,then we all do our homework together. 4.Study at the same time each day,even if its early in the morning.I study best at the library..my kids get off school at 4,so I go to the library by the school at 2pm everyday. 5.Talk to your family about being supportive.Your kids are young but maybe they can help a little more with chores so that mommy has more time to study. As far as A&P...Those coloring books on amazon are REALLY helpful with the anatomy part.It also helped me to learn all the Latin root words that were in front of the anatomy book..very helpful when I could not remember words during a test.We also survived on casseroles and crock pot meals(saved me a lot of time).Good Luck!
