In the middle of orientation and I just hit a wall...
I'm set to go independent some time in January. How scary! Anyway, I had a minor problem a couple weeks ago when I had strep throat, so I had to take 2 days off. I took my antibiotics and I was better. Yesterday, my sore throat came back again, plus a weird rash. Now I have mono. Figures. I'm in the middle of orientation and I'm most likely gonna have to take a couple weeks off to recover. This sucks. What did I do to deserve this?

financial planning for the young!
Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to be starting my first RN job soon and I'm terrible with money! I have to pay back my parents for a bunch of stuff first, but after that, most of it is going into savings so I can get the heck out of here! :)

I FINALLY got a job!
I'm so excited!!! I'll be working on a GI/Medical floor. I'm so happy. I passed NCLEX at the end of May and now FINALLY I can practice as an RN! I am really nervous though! It's been a while since I graduated school. I LOVE learning, so I know it won't be a problem. Plus once I get on the floor, I'm sure it'll all come back to me once I get going.

May Nclex takers...come and join hands...
I took my NCLEX-RN on Thursday last week for the first time. I graduated in December 2007, so I waited a long time before I tested. I had 130 questions. 11 SATA, 3 med calcs, and mostly priority and delegation. I was so sure I failed after I left the testing center, but doesn't everybody? I pretty much partied all weekend to get my mind off of it. LOL Anyway, I logged on today to see if my results were posted. I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I stared at the screen for a minute in disbelief and then started shaking and almost started crying. It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I am sooooooo happy, but yet I am so scared because I have never had any kind of medical job and now I am an RN. o.o

May Nclex takers...come and join hands...
Hey everyone! Just wanted to say "hey!" :) I just rescheduled my test today from April to the end of May because I'm totally not ready. I just moved last week Friday, so I haven't been studying the past week like I should. :/ Eek!

April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!
Hey everyone! My testing date is 2 weeks away and I'm really nervous! I've been studying Saunders for the past week because my Kaplan subscription expired. Right now, I feel as though I'm not ready to test. I have to really pound on peds and maternity. I do pretty well with delegation and prioritizing. I usually get between 80-90% on those. I'm thinking of postponing my test date if I still feel this way at the end of next week. :stone

April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!
Pooey. I did a question trainer today and got a 57% on it. Looks like I'll be going over a lot of stuff the next few weeks. Ick.

April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!
Hey everyone. I scheduled my test not too long ago for the end of April. I'm super nervous already! At this point, I do not think I'm ready, so if I still feel that way near my testing date, I may reschedule. I just feel so overwhelmed by everything that I need to look over. I have been doing practice exams, but have not been scoring as well as I should. :/ Oh, and I haven't told anyone about my test date in fear of them getting on my case and stuff like that. Let's see how long I can keep the cat in the bag. lol

Any grad nurses out there? HELP
I sent in my application to the state about 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back yet! Just wanted to know how long it took you to get your ATT and stuff (that is, if you sent it in). I'm debating if I should call or email to check the status of my application. I searched for my name in the database and it wasn't in there. *frustrated*

Can anyone tell me about spinal cord injury center?
From what I know right now, I will get a 12 week orientation. Thanks for your reply. This area interests me and I hope it all works out! Hopefully I like what I see when I get a tour on Friday.

Need advice re: interview attire...
I was told to always dress up for an interview even if you know the interviewer wears scrubs. It's your choice though.

Can anyone tell me about spinal cord injury center?
It is acute care and rehab.

really gross doctor
Ew! The 5 second rule doesn't apply to meds that fall on the hospital floor!

Starting to really HATE clinicals!!!! LONG
Unfortunately, you'll run into a lot of nurses like that. It irritates me to no end. I don't understand why it was such a big deal about the doctors computer. At one of my clinicals, the student nurses were able to use the doctors computers if no one was using it. Don't let it get to you. I was in your place MANY times throughout nursing school. Just promise yourself that you won't be like that when you get your license and have students on the floor when you're working. :)

Can anyone tell me about spinal cord injury center?
I have an interview on that unit next week. I applied for a Graduate Nurse position and this is what they offered me because of my clinical experience. It sounds interesting, but it wasn't my first choice. Can anyone shed some light and tell me about this unit? I'm a little nervous and scared! Thanks!

Ughhhh!! NCLEXRN tomorrow
Make sure you leave early enough to get there on time, especially if it's still snowing. Be careful! Good luck! Let us know about it when you get back!

So I'm having a hard time finding a job
Thanks. I'll look into that. I am actually going to an open house next week at a local hospital to discuss some career opportunities with them. Hopefully I'll get something there! I am actually lucky that I don't have a lot of bills, so I could hold off on a job for a little while longer, but the sooner I get a job, the better.

So I'm having a hard time finding a job
I can't work as a CNA because my certification is expired. No use in paying over $100 to take that exam again and work as an aide for a few months. As a tech...I don't know. Can I get a job as a tech without being certified? Thanks for the advice guys.
