  1. Did you learn anything about the actual schedule? Are classes M-F 4-10:00 PM? How about weekends? If there is anyone out there with experience in this program, we'd appreciate some information. Thx
  2. Hello, I just got accepted to the Gateway Nursing Program, beginning Fall 09. I'd like to speak to someone who has experience with program. I have questions! like... is it possible to hold down a job while in this program? What is a "typical" week like? They say nights and weekends- What does that really mean? I look forward to hearing from you and thanks.
  3. Wow, thanks for sharing your story. It is so helpful as fear is probably the most debilitating emotion there is. You address that so well and show that we just need to trust ourselves and rely on our co-workers for help. Thank you!
  4. I recently attended the CT League for Nursing- https://www.ctleaguefornursing.org/index.html They sponsored a RN student day and 800! fellow nursing students showed up. It was great, with a keynote speaker who discussed passion and compassion in the profession. The powerpoint presentations will be posted on the website. It was an inspiring event for a nursing student and the league is committed to nursing and education. I recommend that everyone check it out! Another resource for networking.
  5. What part is making your GI upset? ARe you currently in clinicals?
  6. I'm Ann in Old Saybrook. I am working on my Pre-requisites and plan to apply to the nursing program at Three Rivers Community College next Fall. Can anyone tell me about online nursing schools? I am concerned that I may not get into the program, but want to pursue this career path. Does CT recognize any of the online nursing degree programs? Also, what is the average salary one can expect to get in CT with an Associate RN degree?
  7. Thanks for the response. Can you tell me about night and weekend programs? I am in CT. Where would l look for this type of program? Thanks.
  8. What exactly is a student nurse? Is this something I can do while in nursing school? In particular, I am concerned about being able to afford to live while I do my clinicals. Right now, I am still pursuing pre-requisites. Any input you all may have on how to afford getting through school would be very helpful!
  9. I am concerned about the 2 year practicum, where I will have to give up my full time salary. How do people do it financially? Is it possible to do the clinical work on a part time basis? I really want to pursue nursing, but am concerned about the loss of income and being able to survive financially during this time. I look forward to hearing from experienced voices!!!
  10. What is a sticky>
  11. Hi, I am currently at Three Rivers Community College in Uncasville, working on my pre-requisites to apply to the RN program. (which I have heard for years is a great program) I have just turned 50 am and thinking that I want to have a real good idea of where I want to be when I am done - on a 5 year plan, as I am working full time. I have always thought labor and delivery would be cool. Anyone have feedback on that or other areas of nursing that you love?
  12. I'm new to this forum and this is exactly what I was hoping to find. thanks much for the information. AKW
  13. Hello Melody, I am new (brand new!) to this site and see the discussion of CLEP and Sociology. I am planning on beginning studying in 2 weeks. Can you please send me the information that you reference in this thread? Thanks much, AKW
