  1. Hello Everyone I am wondering if anyone knows anything about this school. I looked them up on the texas board of nursing and they check out there. So I want to talk to some of the grads from them. I started nursing school before and think I want to return but this school is about 45 minutes away without traffic (2 hrs with traffic). I have wasted enough money and time. I am way past wanting to be a nurse. I need to be a nurse NOW.Any info would be great. Thanks Dusty
  2. Well I am the mother of two kiddos. 3 girl & 5 boy Full of energy!!! I just finished my first semster of Nursing school -LVN. I have lived in Texas my whole life. Born in Sherman moved to Denton at age 3 and lived here since. Been in school for a long time and now I have a direction. I have everything except microbiology done for my LVN to RN bridge program. Its going to take a while to finish everything but it will be worth it in the end. WOOT:balloons: WOOT:balloons: WOOT :balloons: First Semester is OVER !!!!!!!! SOO SWEEEET !!!!!!! I got 3 B's and 1 A. Med Surg = B Clinical = B Not sure how but an A in EMA Skills = B Celabration time is near!!!! Just 8 months to go!!! Graduation August 2008 Here I come !! Dusty
  3. If you want to save yourself huge buckets of money apply to go to North Central Texas College. www.nctc.edu It is almost as hard to get into their RN program as TWU but with half the cost. I have two small kids so they have worked out really well for me. TWU also offers a bridge program for people who get their RN somewhere else. Personally I have lived in Denton my whole life and have never wanted to attend TWU. SO when I finish up my RN I plan on going to Midwestern State University. Good luck where ever you go, Dusty
  4. I took it early so that I would not have so much stress during the nursing classes. It turns out that I now have "Free" Fridays aka extra study time. I have classes from 7am-4pm so it will be very nice to sleep into 6:30am. So depending on how you study and how high your stress level is I if you want to take it now or later, Good luck Dusty
  5. My LVN teacher told everyone in the class at Oreintation... During the course of nursing school, Ladies, be ready for a bad relationship to get worse or end altogether. Through the years I have seen hundreds of girls do the same thing you all are about to go through. If you are in a rocky relationship now, you have three weeks to either brake it off or fix things. You will not have time to worry about what (insert name here) is doing you are learning to improve YOUR life and help others. During this process you will become a different person. Is the new you willing to put up with the same old HIM? Think about it and I will see you all on the first day of class. So now you have to think about what is best for you and Your CHILDREN. If your parents can help by all means take their help. I know I would be lost if it wasn't for my mother. Its been a long hard road to travel but what in life really comes to you easily? Good luck to you, Dusty
  6. Stay as far away from the State SChool as possible . I worked there for 4 years. They do have good benefits but the work vs. pay totally BLOWS!!!!!!!!! There is no overtime, it gets roled into sick or vacation time. 4 years ago RN's on the lower level homes( great problems) were paid the most (2600 monthly). They had to take care of a min. of 38 residents. If you like to be stabbed in the back or have people telling you your not doing things "right" (their way) then you would fit in fine. When I get my LVN or RN I will NEVER NEVER NEVER work for Denton State School or any other MHMR center.
  7. Dang I was hoping your were in the LVN program too. Yikes!!! Your orientation is 6 days before school starts!!!!! WOW that would be a BIG stressor for me only having 6 days to get everything ready. Hope to talk to you soon. I haven't figured out how to pm people on her yet but I will in time, Dusty
  8. Melimayer have you heard from any other students (other then us) for the Fall NCTC class ? 6 days and counting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope oreintation is as fun as I think it will be. Do you know if there is a NCTC forum? Thx Dusty
  9. Melimayer I will be looking forward to meeting you at orientation. !! Have you got your CPR cert. yet? If not let me know I know of a class this weekend. Do you have your packet completed? SO excited with you!!!!!!!!! Dusty
  10. Hello All I am looking for a good solution for my need(want). I am needing a recorder that is rechargable so I can listen to my notes to and from school. I have read that a PDA is great to have and so I really want one. I am leaning away from an IPOD but it is not totally out. think about it and let me know, thanks Dusty
  11. https://allnurses.com/forums/f175/brookhaven-el-centro-northlake-mountainview-234014.html that is a thread to read. In Denton( where I am ) TWU and North Central Texas College, both offer nursing courses. If you are looking at different areas look at the community colleges. Collin county, Tarrent county,Denton county and Wise county all have at least one college that is offering nursing. Good lucky,Dusty
  12. NCTC, TWU, MWSU. can you be a little more clear of where you are moving to Dallas Ft.worth Arlington, Denton
  13. Well as a mother of 2 little ones I will be very happy with 18.00++++ an hour. It beats the pants off of working for 9.50 with no benefits. I start school AUGUST 27th !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so excited, Dusty
  14. Dallas / Ft. Worth has (I believe) 6 big NICU departments. Are you wanting a traveling job or are you ready to settle down?
  15. Right now gas is between 2.70 and 2.99 depending on if you are in the country or near a bigger town. Road trips are great to the malls around Austin or Round Rock.. If you get the chance to get in the Hill country DO DO DO !!!! It is SOOOO beautiful. New Braunfuls(sp) Kerrville, or anytown around there would be a GREAT !!!!!!!!! While we were in Gruene (GREEN) several people told me that the area was about to get a new "mega" hospital. Good luck, it will be wonderful for you to get back to TEXAS !!!! Dusty
