Hudson Valley Community College--Has anyone gone there???
I recommend that you go to Samaritan. I am an HVCC student right now and I will most likely be applying somewhere else. Most of the instructors are indifferent...they do not care if you do well and they aren't helpful. There isn't enough lab time to go around, and they expect more than what is necessary at this point. I have an A average for my tests and quizzes, but my lab skills are suffering, along with atleast 5 other people in my class of 30! The failure and drop out rate at HVCC is rediculous. Hope this helps!

Hudson Valley Community College--Has anyone gone there???
I am currently a student at HVCC, and many of us are not happy with the 'training' we are receiving. The skill exams are very difficult because we a re expected to learn most of them by reading and watching the dumb videos. There isn't enough lab time to go around for 200+ students. I am seriously considering applying to one of the hospital programs. Are there really no CPE's at Samaritan? Thanks!

nursing clothes, t-shirts,pants, etc
I am a nursing student and I also think a lot of the clothes and things are cute. I will probably get some, but there is another reply that brings up a good point. I know that I also would not want to be bothered most of the time by people who want to pry into my personal life. It's too bad it has to be like this, but don't let it stop you if you really like them. I will be right there with you, because I won't be able to help myself! LOL -NAT

hudson valley community college
The HVCC program is extremely competitive, and also has a long waiting list. I just applied for transfer into the Nursing Department (I am currently in Individual Studies). I was told that I may be able to start Nursing I in the fall of 2011, 2010 if I am lucky and have very high grades. I am a part-time night student and was told that if I was willing to switch to days that my wait may be shorter. They are currently trying to make the program a points based competitive program so that each A you get will be worth x amount of points, and each grade of B would be a little less, etc. I hope I helped, and let me know if you have more questions!

hudson valley community college
I will be getting on the waiting list this coming semester when I finish my last pre-req. I am a returning college student, so I already have some of my classes out of the way such as ENGL comp 1 and 2, General psych, etc. I am hoping that thye list will take no more than 2 years for me to start clinicals, because if it does I will be out of classes to take. I don't want to wait around doing nothing for a whole year! Do you know how long the wait list is right now for Hudson Valley Community College???

Watch a webcast of an entire semester of A&P, Chemistry, or Biology from UC Berkeley.
Great info! Thank you!

What are YOU taking Fall semester?
I will be a part-time student due to the fact that I have 2 young daughters. I don't want to overload! I will be taking Algebra and Biology in the fall and my last pre-req (chemistry) in the spring! Hopefully the wait list at my school is les than 2 years...

Are we all old???
Hi everyone, I am 25. I am thrilled that I will be with more mature women and maybe some men too. I am comforted to know that I won't be stuck with all fresh-out-of-high-school 18 year old kids! I have been out of High School 10 years now...wow! And by the way, 30's is NOT old

Whats with the scrubs?
I like to wear my pajamas out sometimes...:roll

Is it too late for me?
Also like you, I am 25 and will not graduate until I am 29. What is most comforting to me is that nursing schools have an average age of students in their thirties. I am so glad that I won't be the only one that is not straight out of high school! Go for it you have more than enough time!

I Feel Like A Dummie
I also have some people in my life who are not positive and supportive of me going to school for RN. I refuse to let that hold me back and in fact use that as my motivation to prove them all wrong. It is just a matter of ignorance and possibly even jealousy. Do not let their negativity discourage you,,,,,GO FOR IT!!

What are the item(s) you need most for nursing school?
I really appreciate everyone's advice, thank you!

"It shouldn't be that hard to be a nurse"
Yes I agree, it is very sad and disappointing. I am on a wait list to get into the nursing program at my school. This profession is in serious need, and it isn't the lack of students but yet the lack of schools, teachers, etc.
