Hi nurses, I went to a med/surg review class last week and I learnt that DM is the #6 V/S. Has anyone ever heard of this before.

Hi; Yes, experience nurses eat their young ones. I left two jobs in a year because of that. It was awful!. However, on my third job I found some good preceptors and that is where I still work. My advise to you is don't allow any one to push you around. After all they are being paid to share their knowledge and they all started somewhere. good luck

Hmm, As an RN with few years experience, I have recieved lots of written and verbal praises from my patients. However, about ten months ago, one of my patients who have been on our unit for over 4 months reported me to our nurse manager. In her letter of numerous accusation, she stated that I did not answer her call bell on time, refused to medicate her for pain, took her lunch tray away before she finish eating, did not do anything when she complaint of her room being too cold, etc. She even said that I deserved to be fired. Boy, I wasn't just shocked but angry as well when my nurse manager called my attension to the accusations. Luckily for me every single nurse on my unit came to my defense. Even the nurse that I considered my enemy on the unit backed me up. I was depressed for some time about the accusations even with all the support I got from the job. So now I don't expect every patient to appreciate getting the ultimate best care from me. Perhaps my ultimate best is just not enough all patient. But I always try to remember those who specifically call my nurse manager and request for me to be their nurse.

My school mate cheated all the way out of nursing school (AAS program). There were rumors all over when we were in school, but we did not have the evidence to come forward. It took her over four years to pass the nclex exam after graduation. By then many of us have earned our BSN and few were working as supervisors in a nursing home. All of those that cheat end up paying the price.

I wish I can say yes, but the answer is NO! :nono: :nono: :nono: My nurse manager is very unprofessional and needs to be sent to management trainning. She talks about staffs private business to other staff members ( her favorite group). One just can't tell her their problem to request a day off or something. She calls the unit at 3am to gossip about other staff members. She has created a division among the staff members. I certainly do not like her

I work 7:00pm-7:30 am. Any patient that comes to the unit after 6:00 am is not for the night shift to be admitted. What we do is take the vital signs, wt, and height and record it. Our rush hour starts at 5am, so we just can't do admission as per our union contract agreement. We also do not take endorcement for admission during the change of shift unless if it is a real emergency. Some nurses will volunteer to admit a patient after 6am if they are less busy.

When I used to work in the nursing home, some of the residents from my unit always waited for my arrival by the elevator just the way my kids did at the sitter. They checked the posted monthly schedule to make sure I was working each day. Few family members had me talked to the residents when they got "stubborn". I know I was loved.

I chose nursing because of the love first, the money part comes last. So I will certainly work more than 8 hours, maybe 8hr shift x 3. If I don't need the money, then I would volunteer or take the money and donate it.

:trout: Although I hate to judge people, but some times I can't help it. I look at the actions of some of my co-workers and came to the conclusion that they chose nursing for the financial reward. What do you think Do you think some people go into nursing for the money Would very much like to hear your opinion.

I like night shift because it is quiet. I like night shift because all bosses and want to be bosses are not there. I like night because because I get to assess my patients without doctors, social workers, PTs, OTs, RTs, and family members interuptions.I like night because I get 6200 hundred dollars more. I like night shift because I get to spend my days with my family.
