  1. Hi, I have worked for non-nursing managers in the past and have experienced similar to both of you. Cost cutting would appear to be their main mandate. However, patient care is the nurses responsibility and if things go wrong due to poor staffing levels, inadequate or incorrect supplies, and you have not put in writing, the blame will be laid at your feet. I would document everything. Having said that, there are also some very good non-nursing managers who support your role and enhance your job. You are in a difficult situation and I don't envy you. 3. Hello one and all :balloons: I work in a chemotherapy unit and would like to know where I can get information on specific accuity levels for chemo patients. The present system I'm working with seriously needs updating. Thank you, Cathy

  6. Hi ' I'm a British RN who did the anaesthetic course. I could never administer anaesthesia in UK. You may find a job assisting anaesthetists, but the majority of jobs will be in the PACU, Holland allows you to practice. Me, I had to leave UK to practice. Hope this helps,
  7. 2 ties for us and then we call in the meds, and if they can't get it they say that "perhaps they patient doesn't need after all"
  8. Strict policy in our hospital that all medications are double checked.
  9. I did the JBCNS 182 course in Anaesthetic nursing in 1982. Althouhg I could not fully utilise it in UK, I could practise abroad. Anaesthesia is absolutely fascinating!!
  10. Hello Shannon, In our hospital we do pretty much what you do. Job descriptions are being revised as we speak.
