  1. Use the licensure by examination. Then include your pass letter together with the form when you send them your application.
  2. @juicebar, I recently received my CA RN license from the board without having to pass the clinical cases. I'm not sure on what occassions they would request for an applicant to submit it, but i think it would vary depending on the submitted documents.
  3. Could be. Thank you for responding.
  4. Will it be against the law if a nurse in a skilled nursing facility is not given a night diff if he/she works pm and evening shifts?
  5. Is the night diff required as part of the pay when working nights or weekends? Or employers can just offer the basic without nightdiff?
  6. I'm so glad that you started this thread. I'm a new nurse too starting in LTC. Thank you everyone for the tips.
  7. You may opt to do that but it's really not necessary to resend it. The purpose of attaching the letter is to let them know what the docs are for. But I think they should be able to identify why you sent them your deficiencies.
  8. @raymay you are correct. Attached the communication letter when you send them you documents. Just send only those items that they are requesting.
  9. Hi ammeriemichelle, when did you submit your application to the cabon and how long did it take for them to inform you of that requirement?
  10. @Sfajrn from applicatiom date @chinita it's ok if you send them your school credentisls before you send them your application form. My friend did that and he still received his license. Not sure if the online option is ok for previous passers or if it's applicable only for first time applicants. If I may ask, did you still request for verification of license from PRC or just sent a copy of your local license?
  11. I passed Nclex in 2007 too and will arrive Ca on June 2015. A friend told me it took approx 3mos before he received his license.
  12. Can anyone ping the link/thread for this? I can't seem to find it. Thank you!
  13. @sem_rs i suggest you consult your immigration lawyer for the best possible option. When will your vt license expire?
  14. You will most likely get the same response. I called them around 3pm et. You can also click on contact us link found at the left portion of their webpage. It will send them an email and they reply via email too. Response time is the next business day.
  15. I had the same case. When i called cgfns to follow up on the status of my docs, they said it normally takes around 20 business days for your docs fo be reviewed before they update it as received. So that will take around a month (more or less) from the date it was physically received
  16. Thanks for the update seminarista. Im really having 2nd thoughta if the demand draft should be payable to "BRN" only or "Board of Registered Nursing". I hope that they can process my request as fast as yours. Goodluck to us and let's keep this thread updated to help others as well.
  17. Hi. I have the same dilemma. I already emailed Ca BRN to confirm which are the correct forms / fees to complete, but I haven't received a response. Can you let me know pls what you did and which are the correct forms/fees? Appreciate your reply.
  18. Hi again! NJ is another option. Although I haven't run thru their procedures so I'm not really sure. With regard to the visa screen, I haven't started anything about it yet. Will need to pass my IELTS first before I can start the visa screen application. Hope everything will turn out well.
  19. Hi fragiledoll05. I'm actually undergoing the same predicament as yours. I was able to discuss this concern with a lawyer in the US and she advised me to either have my application reviewed by VT or NJ. I chose I run through the procedures in VT and decided to go with them. However, I also emailed VT BON and was informed that they will be changing their policies which will be applicable by July 1. Provided that your application is postmarked before July 1, your application will follow the current policy. Otherwise, you need to review and inquire with them re the new policies. I'm almost complete with my application and will be mailing it on Monday. Good luck to us! Anyway, just in case you have other queries, let me know. Hope this little info helped you in any way. :-)
  20. Hi fragiledoll. to be on the safe side, much better if you will have your application verified and reviewed by VT. This way, there is a chance that they will issue you a license. At least, you don't have to worry of the "expiration of your CA pass letter" because you already hold a license. Hope this helps :-)
  21. Anybody here applying for endorsement from CA to VT? CA-BON is requiring the SSN for me to get my CA license. Since I cannot provide this to them, in three years time, my application will be considered abandoned. A friend mentioned one way to obtain a license is to apply for an endorsement to VT. Anybody here is on-going or have applied for endorsement to VT already? Please let me know. You may reply to this thread or send me private message. Thank you.
  22. Hi! I'm a graduate of nursing too and passed the local boards already. Up to now, I'm having a hard time landing a job in the health care industry. I'm currently working in an office ...Was hoping maybe you can tell me which company do u work for...Maybe I can apply as a health care rep also. thanks a lot
  23. Well, Filipinos have to say BIG thanks to Filipino nurses (and other Filipino OFWs) for bringing IN money to the Phils. The fact is, a big percentage of the economic growth of the Phils is due to the remittances of OFWs. Nobody has the right to stop anybody from learning. We can choose to be lawyer now and decide to change path and become a nurse in the future. People change. Their outlooks change. Who knows, a lousy lawyer can be a caring nurse. I don't think imposing a bill forcing nurses to work locally for 2 years will help increase their nursing knowledge and improve their nursing skills. Other countries (and other hospitals) have different standards. If they are forced to work locally, do you think they'll be more competitive? Well, I don't think so. That's Filipino RNs need to take NCLEX-RN and be trained in the hospital. Try watching Taylor's or Delmar's clinical nursing skills videos. What they show there is far different from what nurses do here. I am not saying that all nursing graduates in the Phils are unskilled. Of course, there are students who are dedicated and are serious of becoming good nurses. Nursing schools are growing like mushrooms. You can see them anywhere in the Philippines. The best solution to prevent the problem of having UNSKILLED doctors or nurses (locally or abroad) is to close the schools that are way below the standard (i.e. having a low passing rate). This is a big problem for doctors taking up nursing. I just hope the Phil. gov't will look at it in a wider perspective.
  24. Hi Ms Suzanne4! Thank you for this post. You're correct. Not everybody here in the Philippines is aware of the TRUE setting in the US, Canada, Europe or anytwhere else. I know some people who are now taking pratical nursing courses thinking that completing the course can help them land a job abroad. It has been quite sometime since a lot of institutions here opened a practial nursing program. I can't believe at first when I learned that it'll only take 1 1/2 yrs to complete the course. And these instiutions even claim that they are recognized by so and so. Thanks again for this very informative post. I will relay this to my friends. :-)
  25. Not yet. Maybe this weekend or any day before aug.4. I'm not sure how much more info/lecture they added this time. I'm after the teaching style they do to remember their lecture/notes/facts. Plus plus the confidence they give you. It's like everytime you leave the room, you're ready to take the exam. :-)
