  1. I got having same dilemma with Solidus Snake. I'm here in Singapore and dying to leave and work in OZ. I'm an EN and wants to be RN. I already heard about bridging course and willing to take the risks. The thing is that how long is the course? If I will wait it takes another 2 years cause they need at least 2 years experience as part of the requirements . I appreciate very much all your suggestions.
  2. I carry a pouch with me which includes: Pen w/ multiple inks Permanent ink Glue Pencil Ruler Stapler Name stamp Ties (to tidy my lines) Sweets (sometimes in my pocket) Scissors I work at cardiothoracic icu
  3. There are factors that affect your confidence aside from being newly grad. U can talk to one of your senior at least makes u comfortable while u are working. She went through all this stuff as well. Experience is the best teacher. Just pray always to remind u that God is still there to help u even if u feel alone struggling.:nurse::nurse:
  4. In this area of profession, we have to deal to different group of people. So whether we like or not, we need to talk to them, work with them. In fact there are times also that rn's need to collaborate with older lpn's which sometimes make things a bit difficult. Where in rn's are highly educated professonally and tend to be bossy to lpn's. I see this as an observation which sometimes we cant help it but to live with it since its the part of our job. We must not deal only with our patients, but to our collegues and other members of healthcare since we are working as a team.:specs:
  5. when i think of all nurses i think of people with same concerns with me. I dont have people in mind but i know that someone out there is willing to read my concerns, my doubts and wearies... keep it up for all the the people that make this site going and going....
  6. this is a nursing profession. unlike other jobs out there, we are taught to be submissive not agressive. Give care rather than insisting that we wre in theright side. Just reme, mber at the vend of the day, we know in ourselves that we've done as what an angel in land should do ;-)
  7. It is actually a good idea when a new and senior staff work togehter cause the older one will teach things practically. Its just that the pressure is with her cause she has patient of her own and have you as an extra load without extra income. I bet this is what is running through her mind. Wherein in ideally she should be helpful coz last time she was a new nurse before she became a senior staff. Regarding the unit management, too bad I have same with you and not the one we are looking for. Its the manager who runs the unit will determine the floor nurses outcome. In our ward must save your own self rather than helping each other for the unit to survive. But according to my senior staff friends, the previous manager is the best. She is so fierce with her staff to train them but can scold doctors also to protect them. They say promotion that time also is so fast.. How I wish I was with them, too bad I was born today :beercuphe:beercuphe
  8. For me, the effective one is exercise. I go on classes like yoga and boxercise. This classes are in the gym. At least Im not alone doing it, so that I can push myself.(if others can do, why cant i kind of thing....)aside from making us healthier theres called endorphins released by our body during exercise that make us happy. Sorry reading then apply to myself will not work for me.
  9. I've got same concern with you. The mosty terrifying part is that your nurse supervisor or the doctors that making rounds will ask question and we dont have the answer at that moment. I've observed from my co-workers that they just know how to joggle the words than providing the infos that are needed. Even if you know what to do and you dont look confident of what you are doing they will judge you as dumb. I think confidence matters most than knowledge. Its good to have both though....
  10. We have also in our area. Credit to her, she's 20 yrs plus already in nursing profession as LVN. If a new staff will come to us, she can be a mother figure. can give you cakes that she bake but one minute she will make young girls cry out of small mistakes ( understandable cause its been only for a month) and will scold people in front of so many crowd. Of course this will make the whole word know that she's doing the right thing compared to others. I've been tolerating her cause I am working for the pt , and besides she's not my boss. By the way most of my colleagues experiencing this. We are thinking to complain her, but we knew that this will lead us to nothing. And she's also older to our nurse supervisor. We are working only for few years in that area but for her, its almost half or her life she spent there. We just ignore her, so that the story will stop or else, the whole shift will become a radio station to our ward..
  11. thanks for the comments... yeah we render nursing care to the patients and wether we like the other nurse or not, we should do the procedure with them. But how can we communicate we them if they are not in good terms. Just like suctioning or turning the pt. perhaps. U would drag yourself and can create more tension if u can raise your voice unconsciously. Sometimes working with people with attitude problem is more difficult than doing the job well...
  12. They say nursing needs team work. But there are times that our area is sooo busy but we need to help more than 1 person at one time. For example, you need to choose your friend than the person which you find irritating? Let us say, u r irritated because her working attitude is bad that she dont help u or other people if needed to, or just find that u dont simply dont like her personality even u if u tried. I would appreciate all of your opinion on this... thanks:yeah:
  13. I definitely agree with bettyboop.... must take the english exam first... what if in the middle of your plans unexpected things happened.... at least u can select other countries that u want and not waiting to be selected. In addition, what if u already chose one (for example the hosp. in US) but there is no vacant position available.
