  1. BagladyRN, A note on the "banana bag"...I had a student working with me once that asked, how we were to get "this" back into the IV (banana) bag? .... she had just emptied the foley. Scary !
  2. The above suggestions are great. Do you have a briefcase. I typically carry one to interviews. I keep a few copies of my resume' and offer a copy to the interviewer. (If it is a group interview plan to have a few- so that each individual can have a copy). The interviewers have always seemed to appreciate this practice. Good Luck, A
  3. Sounds to me like there is a lot to be leery of! I doubt that there has been FDA approval for the preparations and as such, I wonder what your liability would be in the administration of such preparations? I think it would be too risky to put my license at stake (not to mention the lives of those who would be receiving the IV herbs)
  4. A successful post arrest pt complained that her chest was sore... I had been the person completing compressions and was questioned as to why I had " hurt" her chest A
  5. Hello and Good Luck in your move!! I am from TN and will be moving back next spring as well. (I am a Navy wife and have spent the past 5 or so years away from TN). Although I do not consider Memphis my home, I lived there for 5 years. I would suggest that you visit Memphis prior to your move to the area. Although there are many positive aspects of Memphis, it is also an city with high crime rates and areas that I do not feel that it is safe to live in. I'm sure you may laugh but try and avoid the areas with State names-- that is a joke in Memphis-- for some reason those areas have are known for high crime rates. I worked in acute care while living in Memphis thus I can not advise regarding LTC. I wish you much luck in your move. A
  6. Another name for the tubing you describe is a safeset by Abbott.
  7. Nurse Hobbit posted my suggestion: Vicks- I keep it with me!!
  8. Night shift sharpened the reuseable needles
  9. Yes you can. Just remember that scope of practice varies a little state to state and you have to practice within the scope of practice of the state you are working in. A
  10. To Alexsys, It depends upon what state you are in. A
  11. TN was my original state of licensure and I practiced there for 10 years. I found the staff at the board to be quite "limited" and at times it seemed as if they went out of their way to be unhelpful. Time and persistance... I wish I had better advise to offer.
  12. Burn Out -- poor ole fella-- but what a story, that was halarious!!!!
  13. Hi, Several states have statutes protecting the title "nurse". It appears that TX is in the process of enacting this law. I found the following article on the ANA website. http://nursingworld.org/gova/state/2003/titlenurse.pdf
  14. Patient's boyfriend (girlfriend actively having a seizure in the backseat of the car) " I got her orgasmier stuck"
  15. Pt presented to triage and stated " I think a snake crawled up my A**, I was so scared I couldn't make it stop."
