  1. ORIGINAL FROM HAPEEWENDY The second big hurdle was actually having to work hard and study. I had it pretty easy in school, didnt have to study all that much and got excellent grades without much effort (not proud of that , just saying!) anyway nursing school changed all that in a hurry! All nighters were a new concept and I was overtired a lot of the time. And wanted to quit the whole program when I was doing my pre-grad, again I'm glad I didnt. its a tough ride , you really earn the title of "nurse", its far more intense than many other college/university programs and it takes special people to be able to do it. so lets keep remembering that we are a special breed of people , who roughed it to get where we are now! I'm proud of all of you and am glad you toughed it out! THANKS FOR THESE WORDS..... I AM A THIRD YR STUDENT AND HAD A HORRIBLE WEEK....I ALMOST WALKED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY CLINICAL DAY....I AM GLAD TO HEAR I AM NOT THE FIRST ONE OR THE LAST ONE THAT HAS EVER FELT THAT WAY...:kiss
  2. Okies, how about the the guy that vomited into his emesis basin during dinner and then soaked it up with the bread from his dinner tray and ate it? True story! I thought I could get by eating some toast after reading all these wonderful stories..............Guess NOT!!!
  3. Oooohhhh I forgot....In Southern Nevada.... An ObGyn Dr. K. Moorehead (Female)..... She is not my doctor, but I heard she is always very happy!!!
  4. I had a client not long ago by the last name Yu and he kept saying his first name was F. Since he only spoke Korean (I believe) we could not understand him, so we had to request his labs and everything else by Mr. F. Yu....that woke up a lot of staff at 3:30am
  5. Since you all have more experience.... Is spitting considered violence and should it be reported??
  6. I had one that really caught me off guard... I am a first year student and was cathing a older male during my clinical...He was very cooperative and quiet and I thanked him afterwards... But then he said to me in front of about 8 people in the room... Now that you played with my member, Can I play with your lady parts??? The nerve.....
  7. Hi MELIS0106: I am a full time nursing student and have 3 children. So far I have only worked as a volunteer and a NAP and all I can tell you is the it is possible, but you need a very supportive husband/wife/babysitter/maid/counselor/tutor/...I am dead serious, I only see my children 2 or 3 times a week and I am hoping this will change when I graduate and start a job. The weekend baylor shift Rhonda is talking about sounds great, maybe my kids will know they do have a mother if I spend the entire week with them and only work on the weekends... Anyway, I think students need to hear a bit of encouragement from the seasoned Nurses since all we hear lately is negative. Thank God I went for it with a lot of LOVE for nursing and really wanting to help!! I love children and want to specialize in peds, but so far I have not found volunteer positions in peds, so I have done nursing homes and ER and I believe that is not my cup of tea. I hope this helps
  8. Finally I hear someone having fun at everyone's expense. Why is everyone so negative. This is my first time in and cannot believe how much hatred amongst members of such "loved" profession.
