Bread making for stress relief...
Love your post. I have all the same stresses and also garden, walk the dog and do my yoga for stress relief, a night out with two or three friends, watching a movie with hubby, I no longer have nice woods by my house- but I love to sit on the back porch and listen to my wind chimes. I read my books in a bubble bath with a glass of wine instead of an armchair with tea, and I don't worry about laundry- that is my husbands chore, but I have been known to turn a blind eye to some serious dog fur until I am done with just a few more chapters and the bath water has turned unbearably cold. I may try the hot tea thing this winter, (wine is getting expensive!) :) Thank you for your nice post- I am totally going to goggle bread recipes now. I already have some yummy butter recipes saved on pintrest. I think that sounds like a great new thing to try.

would it be ok to bring in a food tray or something for first day?
I think it sounds weird. In what profession is it customary to bring food to work on your first day as a gift to co workers?
-
no job, going back for bsn, or is it a waste of money?
I'm starting my BSN & just got the ASN in May- and passed nclex a few weeks ago- am not currently working as a nurse- just going right back to school.
-
Is a Nclex review course really necessary?
Not necessary- also passed with 75 questions- took less than a hour and I studied mostly w/Saunders hand me down review book. NCLEX was not bad, EASIER than the nursing class tests I took at the community college.
-
Kaplan..is it worth it?.
Never did a kaplan question or looked at one of their books- and I passed w/75 ?'s. I used Saunders,LaCharity and Hogan. So for me not necessary- if it is worth it I can't say. Certainly possible to pass without even looking at Kaplan.
-
For those who passed the nclex.. how did you study pharmacology?
Did not study pharm...to many drugs- too overwhelming. Could not possibly hold all those drugs in my brain.

SURVEY for 75 questions on NCLEX RN
75 questions--less than an hour to test-
- Name on BON -pending?

Name on BON -pending?
Is your name on the BON before you pass? I was just wondering because I read a post that said the poster had been checking their BON for their name to change from pending to pass. My name is not even on the BON. Should it be while your results are pending or only after your pass? Anybody know? I'm in PA if that matters.

I'm an RN now =)
Congrats! I also studied from third edition hand me down Saunders and a few days on LaCharity. Took the exam today and hopefully my name will be on the BON in the am!

Should I reschedule?
I did mine today too- and I also was wondering if I should reschedule, but I did not, I just went for it. I was pretty sure that I was going to fail. I don't know. My test sounds close to what your was. Only one calc question. I got a pop up on the Pearson Vue trick-blocked me from paying. I was looking two minutes after I was in the door- I can/could not wait. Now I am just praying that the trick works because I don't think I can go through that again! People at work keep asking me about it and I keep saying that I rescheduled becasue I don't want to talk to them about it! I hate lying, but if I fail I don't want to have to tell everyone. Good Luck to us. About what -42 hours now until we can get our quick results. :)

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
I got 75 ?'s too. Only one med calc question--but it was a convert lbs.-kg and mcg to mg- so "kind of" advanced, maybe 5 sata, drug, priority, I guess a little bit of everything. The time flew by-- it did not seem like I was sitting there an hour- I never even looked around the room, I just sat down, put my ear plugs in and started doing questions, and let me tell you I was not SURE about ANY of them. I'm hopefull but still afraid to get too happy. Just caue the trick works, I have to see the words pss to believe it- you can bet I will be paying the $7.99 in about 40 hours now to be sure!

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
I took the NCLEX this morning and my pop up says "The canidiate currently has an open registration for this exam. A new registration can not be created at this time." Is that what it is supposed to say? Mine does not say anything about contacting the BON which is what others say their says so I am afraid maybe my pop up is not the same/good/you passed pop up because it says something different. It does say delivery sucessful- on the home page & it says your exam results are not availabe at this time. Is that a "delivery sucessful" a good sign?

So I took NCLEX today..
I took mine today too at 8am, it took about an hour and cut off at 75 questions, only had one drug calc question and maybe 5-6 sata- nothing easy, many that I just went with my gut on, maybe only two of the questions popped out at me with the "right" answer. I don't know what to think- last night I was crying sure that I was going to fail, but too late to reschedule, a lot has been going on and I don't know if got enough study hours in, but at the same time, I don't think I could study another thing. I'm just fried. I did "trick" and got "The canidiate currently has an open registration for this exam. A new registration can not be created at this time." Is that what your said? Mine does not say anything about contacting the BON which is what others say their says so I am afraid maybe my pop up is not the same/good/you passed pop up because it says something different.

Does anyone study from their class notes?
Does anyone study from their class notes? Or just NCLEX books?
-
Is and LPN Program a Good Route to Go in Trying to bridge over to RN?
I was going to say no just do the RN- but it's obviously different for everyone.
-
most difficult part of nursing school?
ALWAYS feeling like you must study- never being able to relax because you have to study and feeling guilty if you do try and relax.
-
school papers?
They are powerpoints all printed out on paper that we were required to buy from the bookstore - the ones that were posted on blackboard (only 1/2 of one semester) I already have on a memory stick- this is just pure paper.
-
How old were you when you began nursing school?
35-- already have a BA in something else--doing AS for my RN degree.
-
school papers?
I just finished my last semester of nursing school- I just have a mentorship and round table left--- do you think it is safe to pitch 2 years worth of power points? They are taking up space and I don't think I will ever look at them again, I have the books... it is seriously a stack of powerpoints about two feet high. What do you guys think? Pitch? Or would you keep them in case you needed them...but what for? I can look everything up in a book right? Would you study for NCLEX from them?-- I am thinking I will only study for NCLEX from NCLEX books.. What did you guys do? (I really want to throw them away-it will feel so good.)

What do you do to relieve your stress?
Eat- Which is awful- I am a huge stress/study eater I have found out- I have packed on so many pounds- and it was interesting at the end of last semester I was like holy crap I gained 13 pounds- over the summer it was just magically gone- back to school and within 6 weeks it was back. I can't wait to have time to work out again- I work FT M-F 9a-5p, class & clinicals three nights a week till 10pm and clinical 10 hours on Sat. Sunday is time to see my three kids and clean my house, maybe wash some clothes for them. So I truly do not have the time or energy to workout right now. No not even 1/2 an hour a day. I'm always rushing from work to class and up till 1 or 2 studying, then up at 6a for work. & get the kids on the bus.- I'm so tired I'm so glad we are on Christmas break and I can sleep normal for three weeks. Sleep is my other stress reliever - and Tylenol- lot's of Tylenol for my headaches. The thought of going back to school again, my last semester, it is stressing me out just to think about. I can't wait for May to be here.

Cpr???
American Heart Association is good for 2 years and American Red Cross is good for one year. They should be good to the date you took it last, not the end of the month. I have seen some AHA cards printed withe the 31st on the card when the class was taken on the 17th. It is expiries on the 17th not the 31st. I'm not sure why they started printing them like that. Yes your is clearly expired and yes you could be told you can not work on the floor until it is renewed. I'd get on line and look for any place that might offer cpr and get there asap.
