I always check the mar with the med rec form that is signed by the physician before as part of my morning chart checks before giving meds. if the med rec form is not signed then yes, I look at the individual orders for each med. not checking can cause accidents, the pharmacy does make mistakes and ultimately it is your job to know what the patient is getting.

I graduated in may and had a job lined up on a med surg floor. I was told that nursing recruiters want to hear from you about a year out, make contact, try to get a job as a pct (Nurses assisstant). the only people who got jobs in my class were the ones already working for the hospital. have a great resume. if you can't get a job as an assistant. be a server, they like that too. Network with your teachers and nurses in the clinical setting and use one as a reference and have around 3 teachers write letters of rec.

In my city no one got a job if they didn't already have one as a CNA (Patient Care Tech). There is no nursing shortage for new grads and hospitals only hired within themselves. Also I would reccommend it so you can see what nursing is really about, how the hospitals run, and very good information and experience, you will feel less lost when you start

get a job as an assistant at the hospital, in my city the people who had jobs already were the ONLY ones hired

ER or cardio for sure. floors that give you great skills and are the most interesting to graduate into. remember this is your job interview for when you are a nurse, so what kind of floor do you want to start out in?
