  1. Sorry was only able to post today. So busy with job hunting. I'm in NS, received results last week. I passed! Hope everyone here who hasn't received the long awaited results get the "pass" letter soon! :clpty:
  2. If you believe that you really deserve a 7 in writing, then you could probably file for an appeal. But it could go both ways. They could give you the 7 you want or in a worse case scenario, they could give you the same score or maybe even lower. Not to put you down, but you have to be prepared for anything. Alternatively, you could just take the exam again. I'm sure you'll get an even higher score.
  3. Considering that it will take time before you could be licensed as an RN, it is definitely a better move financially to work as an RPN than a PSW. You can buy the Canadian PN prep guide and do the online predictor test for review. Mosby's Canadian Comprehensive review of Nursing is also a good book. Good luck!
  4. Happy thanksgiving! Just a week more......
  5. You can apply for next year since the cap has already been reached. There is no need for an agency. Everything can be done yourself without having to spend your hard earned money. You can do all your research on the CIC website. Everything you need to know will be there: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp
  6. The British Council and IDP are different entities. I seriously doubt that British Council will assess any result given by the IDP. If you did your exam under IDP, then the same body should reevaluate your result.
  7. Hmmmm.... 1st post again?
  8. This still sounds like an advertisement. Someone from the agency who's at the office, and will never come here. It does not take 6 months for the immigrant processing. Any knowledgeable person would know that.
  9. OMG! :grn: There must be dozens fooled by this agency! :grn: How can people believe that the immigration process is as short as 7 months? It's so obvious that people from the agency are writing the posts. We were not born yesterday!!!! :dncgbby:
  10. Same here. I think I am repressing those stressful questions.
  11. Wow! Thank you for all your replies. Great insight! I thought being transparent was better.... I guess some things are better left unsaid...
  12. If I'm not mistaken, Saipan Ocean View is the only hotel which is within walking distance from the testing site. There is a cheaper hotel, I believe it is just $10 less--- Saipan Gold Beach. If you are planning to visit the testing site, just to relieve the anxiety before your scheduled test date, then you would be spending a little more if you stay at Saipan Gold Beach, considering that you still have to ride a taxi going there.
  13. There are so many nurses applying for work in hospitals here in the Philippines. Everyone wants to get the needed hospital experience to build on skills. The problem is, there are no vacancies.
  14. I spent around $1,000 for airfare and hotel booking, inclusive of free breakfast. I stayed at Saipan Ocean View which is just a very short walking distance from the testing site. If I were you, I would bring some coffee and snacks with me, (so you won't regret not doing so, once you've computed how much more you had to spend for a box of instant coffee or pringles). The hotel provides free hot or cold drinking water anyway.
  15. I've been having a hard time finding work in the hospitals here in mla. I feel like I've been waiting forever just to be scheduled for interview and examinations. With some hospitals, I got the impression that passing the NCLEX-RN is not a plus factor. It seems to me that NCLEX passers are second priority over those who only have the Philippine license. I've always been asked the big question... WHEN WILL YOU LEAVE? Could anyone share their experiences?
  16. ANSAP has a direct line which is 713-1063. You can also try 716-3901 up to 20 loc.383 You can call them to ask about their next schedule and fees for IVT training. The basic training takes 3 days.
  17. Thanks sunnyjohn! :w00t: It certainly sounds very inspiring! :wink2:
  18. congrats!!!! who can remember a patients' name when all you have to do is diagnose them and recite your management over the phone to your consultants??? when i decided to try nursing, all my consultants' eyes were on me... it was as if i killed their patients. two years later, some of them are asking me how to make nursing care plans...:monkeydance: hahahaha! :rotfl: revenge at last! just kidding! i'm sure you were happy to oblige.... during the start of class we were about 20 plus students... the number trickled down to 15..... most of them decided to drop out when we started making the ncps. it was hard to make the shift. some even tried to challenge the nursing diagnosis ---- to the exasperation of our very patient instructors.... although i could see them trying to control themselves... and still smile... :d :angryfire :angryfire :argue:
  19. yeljet and shiina thank you very much for the info! :icon_hug:
  20. I got my 3rd edition comprehensive review for 1,518.15 over a month ago at C & E recto. The book came with a cd rom. I think it's more expensive because the copy that I got has nice white paper ( nice to read and mark ),and not the newsprint which I think is the only one available now.
  21. We're on the same boat here! I also applied last february of this year for the CGFNS-CP. I decided to forgo the CP and just proceed with NCLEX. From the $295 I paid, only $120 was refunded. You shouldn't ignore it. B etter give them a call. You'll still need their services for the VisaScreen.:w00t:
  22. [color=#333333]i came across this old post in another forum. it received a lot of replies but i cut it short since it's mostly in tagalog. [color=#333333]it gave me a headache, but it also did give me a good laugh! read on..... [color=#333333]:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: [color=#333333]i'm a nurse and i work in the most reliable clinic. take note what i bring you a story. this afternoon i got have very sick patient who went to our clinic for check up? take note what we found out with this financially poor patient.his life is nearly being into danger and be burried by being a live man. december 15,2003 he was brought to the hospital by his only own self with a little bit conciousness and could manage to went to hospital to subject his self for cure ment of his stub wound and internal stomach organ been out from his stomach. when he is already arrive in the hospital he lost his conciousness and when he opened his eyes he were wondering and frightened where he is why? it is already dim in his sorrounding. he shouted and he said to the 2 men who brought to him there, that return me back!!!!!why are you bringing me here? take note what was that room so dim and dark??? it was a morgue. if he did not get his conciousness up! that nice good poor man will be alive embalm. see what is the situation it was all the fault of the doctors medical there why they did not make see to it of that man is still has life to survive or just already die. it wasn't because he is died and he is getting second life to be a live. it was a big fault of a doctor why they did not make see to it. just because they saw the man unconciously and have the internal organ out they thought it was died on arrival. see what i am trying to emphasize. god what if this will happen to us? what will you do? your soul will be not into peace. [color=#333333]
  23. That's so funny! I had the same thing in mind! :chuckle :chuckle
  24. Being a nurse is much more humane than being an MD. As a nurse you see the person as a whole. Care is an integral part, which is not so much the case when you're an MD. As an MD, you're always concentrating on diseases. One of my classmates during one of our rotations even said I can't remember the patient's name. But, I'm sure that I'll remember who he is if you tell me what his diagnosis is. I'm sure a lot of doctors turned nurses would agree that they have done this a lot of times. I wish I took nursing as my pre- med course. But, better late than never! The shift I have made is definitely the best move I have made so far. God bless us nurses!
